I think many people forget to mention the passing of his father. As someone who lost a loved one very young in life, it sets a new perspective and brings a lot of maturity out of you. That in my opinion was the biggest thing that changed Bryson
Having met Bryson's dad several times you can imagine his passing was a big loss to those who knew, and loved him. The fruit fell far from the tree. Bryson played fast, and loose with the Pandemic which flies in the face of his "mad scientist" reputation. A global emergency demands cooperation from everyone but Bryson gave the world the middle finger🖕.
I personally wasn't a fan of Bryson when he first hit the tour. Now I realize I was just a victim of biased bad press and social media banter. Getting to know him through his RU-vid channel and seeing him show immense respect to his peers and golf legends really shows his true colors. I'm definitely a fan, only downside is I'm not gonna watch LIV lol
We got CC in the house! At first i thought he was just misunderstood, but I admit I was rooting against him by the time the slow play drama played out. Nothing worse than slow play. All in the past though. I'm a fan now. Golf needs personality. Some guys win tournaments and hardly celebrate. It's soft.
💯 correct! I've liked Bryson since day 1! Even had me sold on the one length irons and Puma flat cap 😆 media are very good at doing that. The same way they make out Rory is such a nice guy and everyone loves him, when behind his front, he is clearly an absolute 🔔 🔚!
@@jerryinsci swear like 90% of golf is fighting your own mental state. i have been getting better at staying level headed, but man i’ve seen some crazy stuff on the course
His RU-vid channel is really awesome. The fact that he can go win the open and then do a video playing with kids clubs just shows he is for the people and im all for it
Even with his earlier "antics" he just seemed like a guy that was doing his own thing and brutally honest. Playing how he wanted and other people started talking about him. He didn't seem worried about other people unless they started getting at him.
These videos are amazing; Bronny, Caitlin Clark, Dechambeau... perfectly edited, documented, and "journalized". Super stoked for the growth of this channel!
Bryson has been quality on LIV. Met him in London last year, whilst he wasn't at his best then, he still drew massive crowd and took the time to sign autographs and talk to fans!
I’ve been a fan of Bryson since I started golfing during covid. Ive never not used an armlock on a course and I loved the idea of single length irons. Golf needs more innovation and differentiation. Never understood why the guy got so much hate I’ve seen so many pros and amateurs throw fits during rounds. Glad the guy is finally getting some love.
Nice work! Only thing embellished is the Payne Stewart piece. He wore the flat cap originally in honor of his idol Ben Hogan. He certainly has love for Payne as well being an alum of SMU.
I use Cobra one length irons and jumbo grips because of this guy. Been a fan of his back when he was using Edel irons. Glad to see em getting the love he deserves!
Frank love these long form videos! I loved the shorts and was always interested in them so glad your doing long form now. Could you do any on the nfl or nhl by chance?
His RU-vid channel is really helpful, I also like the way he plays and thinks as I am similar, I’ve started golfing a lot more since finding his RU-vid channel I like to hit the ball far and I feel a renewed sense that is good and fun
Love the Video Man!!! I am a big Bryson fan now and I think starting a RU-vid channel was a great idea on his part. Wish he was with the PGA, but I still love the guy!
hahaha i was out of the game for many years so never saw a lot of this. referencing a singular fire ant that "scrummed up" hoping for lie relief is hysterical
I like everything the guy does golf wise, i love a pro that isnt extremely boring and does their own thing and sticks to their own way of playing despite people disliking them, and I like seeing him win. That said, everything I see of him, he just seems like a really awkward guy to interact with that i could imagine rubbing myself the wrong way playing a round with him. I dont think hes a bad person at heart, just very single mindedly focused on golf, terrible social intelligence, really bad cognitive empathy to the point I genuinely think he might be firmly on the spectrum. I am definitely a fan though and love the unique approach and personality he brings to the game, the good and bad of it.
Coming in late to golf, I've only seen what a gentleman and scholar Bryson is I think it's great how analytical he is about his game Watch his youtube channel and enjoy the LIV golf format He and LIV are bringing golf to the people
When will solo survivor come back? But anyway, Great job, FMS, thanks for all the amazing effort you put into your videos and for the awesome games that you provide for us.
Well done! At times Bryson made it hard to like him, or admit that I liked him. But now I love to cheer him on, especially in the faces of my friends who still staunchly hate him and bet against him at their peril!!!!
Everyone should just take a step back and remember Phil was beloved by the people but some of the stories of how he treated people when the cameras were off circulated for 2 decades before the rest of the world finally caught on. What are the chances Brson has changed? I hope he has, and life is in the right perspective for him. We all want golf to come back together. The question is will the public get sick of it if they see it week in and week out. 4 times a year to have Bryson being Bryson may be the perfect amount for all I know!
Hey I remember you made a video a while back about the effects of turf on nfl players but did you also know that it causes more head injuries because there is nothing to cushion the fall? Maybe make a long form video on this and the many other factors. Love your work!!!
Why did Bryson get rid of the flat cap? If the US Open was being played at the same place where his golf hero won, doesn’t it make sense to wear the flat cap as a tribute to his hero’s greatest victory?
Flat caps lack proper spacing for sponsorship branding. Tribute only goes so far. But he did manage to put it on for a minute after the end of his victory round during the interview.
Payne Stewart was such an idol to Bryson that next to a Payne Stewart pin that Bryson wore on his cap during the US Open was a Net Jet promo logo. Given that Payne Stewart died in private plane accident, a person would have to be totally tone deaf to commemorate Payne Stewart alongside promoting Net Jets. Before Bryson’s image comeback he never once talked about wearing the flat cap in honor of Payne Stewart. Honoring Ben Hogan was always Bryson’s stated reason for wearing the flat cap.
There was never a comeback. He was trying new methods to find his game. Stuffy golf traditionalist were against it and it fell into the press. Most (golf pros) went with it cause they have to be told what to think. Now that his game is rounded out and he won some key events, everyone seems to like him. Good on him when he took control of his image. Goes to show there's always narrative spin when its simply not the case.
Yeah, I think he has just figured out how to play the social media game. Maybe he has fundamentally matured, but I think he is just doing brand management…and people are buying it.
The media did a hit job because Bryson did not have the RIGHT sponsors and because he was NOT tiger woods. Why do you think some of the most mid golfers get their own streaming and why those streams start before the main feed. Sponsors want you watching their guy not someone else much more entertaining and knowledgeable.
All of these reporters evaluating Bryson's game would lose by 18+ strokes to him on any golf course in the world. The first amendment has never been so weak on the topic
there are a lot of little factoids in this video to make bryson look bad, number 1 i get it he was slow but he was nowhere near as slow as ben crane or patrick cantlay, the slowest players on tour. Number 2, he played holes 2, 3, and 4 5 over par on friday, and keep in mind this was during covid, he hooked his tee shot way left and lost the ball because there were no crowds there that day and he ended up making like a quad or something stupid. If you cant agree that brooks is a cocky brat i dont know who you are. Brooks thinks he is above everyone else and using him to insult bryson in insane. Edit: he was not complaining about cobra's driver itself he was talking about the fact that you cant change driver settings in the middle of tournament.
