Family time is #1! They grow up so very fast.

Work hard, spend time with the family and upgrade to the 997.2. I've had mine for 5 years still not bored with it yet.

The 997.2 is a nice car. In a lot of ways the best of the modern 911’s. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

Glad you enjoy the videos and I’ll still be making them, just in a more balanced way so I can make sure my family is first. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

Thanks for sharing. I didn’t know your obsession lead you to this path, but hey it happens to the best of us. I too have a family and had slight car obsessions myself but you know what, I got into the outdoor stage of my life and got into RVing. Currently own a travel trailer and enjoy spending quality time with the family in it. For now, I’m driving a ‘16 VW GTI, my daily commuter, mini kids school bus and my version of the practical Porsche family hauler. All in all, balance is key to success. All the best

You are very correct about balance. I got it out of whack, but am fixing that. But perhaps the outdoor stage is the best stage for balance. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Cars will come and go but family is forever. Its been interesting to see the car that my wife and I almost bought. We were just a day late and snagged it before we did. We still have our 996 4s we got and strangely enough it just developed a miss fire last night P0301. We are taking it to our local indy shop tomorrow for them to look at it and do an oil change. We put about 30k miles on our 4s since getting it in 2020.
@OurRideLife
@OurRideLife 3 месяца назад
Hopefully the Indy finds out your problem. Mine was giving code P301 and P1237 and recently the second code had me checking the fuel injectors. I’ve put some fresh gas in the tank and fuel injector cleaner and drove it for a bit and so far the codes are gone and the car is running better. Going to see if it comes back, but may have been a clogged fuel injector. Best of luck with your car and I guess you can kind of see what would have happened if you bought the car I bought when I do post videos. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

@@OurRideLife pulling in the indy shop heard the car and is 90% sure it's the coil. The 996 and 997 coils he said tend to fail at 5-8 years. They crack on the sides and moisture works its way in. They always get 997s and 997s in once the rain starts for miss fires due to coils. They are going to tear into tomorrow and call me. We have been using the same shop since we got the car.
@aszrael1266
@aszrael1266 3 месяца назад
@@OurRideLife It was just coil from cylinder 1. The shop said like clock work just after the rain they see 997 and 997's come in with miss fire's. The edges of the coil pack crack over time and water seeps in causing them to fail. Generally they say it lasts 5-8 years. All 6 plugs and coils with an oil change was 1465 so not bad.

I honest truth is that you should have started with a 993 and passed up all those other models that faded away. You are right about hobby, work and family. It all needs to have balance..

Nice, short video, that although certainly doesn’t apply to every Porsche owner, it is comical and reminds people of the things that truly matter. “Porsche” here can be substituted for any other material possession. Nicely edited video, I enjoyed it!

Yikes, no wonder you stopped the frequent videos. I'll continue to enjoy my modded metallic midnight blue, 02 986 3.2 liter with Numeric shifter, Fabspeed Exhaust, IPD Plenum/ TB, BBS Sport Classic rims etc. though! You do need to have balance in life😄

I think I’ve found a more balanced approach and have looked at ways to streamline the video making process to still get a decent amount of content out without taking a ton of time from my family. Enjoy your 986 as often as you can. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

@@OurRideLife It's easy to go overboard into the Netherealm of "obsession" when you're talking about Porsche; own the car don't let it own you. Speaking to myself here too 😂

I had a different experience. Bought a 996 turbo. Enjoyed it for 7 years…..the profit I made paid for every bit of maintenance, fuel, and insurance I ever spent on the car. Basically free to own for 7 years……the Evo 9 I replaced it with for half the price I do love more tho. If I really wanted a Porsche, I’d get a cheap blown engine 996/997, or even a boxster for next to nothing. And bang a Honda K24 with a light turbo in it. Could easily be built for under 10k dollars with right starter car, easy to make just as fast or faster, you can rag it everywhere all day, and even if you do manage to pop the motor, a replacement can be had from a scrap yard for under 1000 dollars. Worry free Porsche ownership for a fraction of the price.

Well there's the v8 Audi R8 , relatively cheap and should be more reliable so you dont have to be away from your family fixing stuff, unless your bad luck strikes again or just settle for a TT.

Born and raised on Oakland and have spent time in all parts. It's a ugly picture to try to tell others that the seller of your 1st car had "razor wire" at their home. Never in 30 years in Oakland have I seen any razor wire. Low move.
@OurRideLife
@OurRideLife 3 месяца назад
I don’t believe I said it was their home. To clarify it was their shop on Coliseum Way. Now I do believe he said that he lived in an apartment attached to the shop, but it was a shop and it certainly did have razor wire and a chain link fence that he did the business behind. I do have some family that still lives in Oakland and the last time I visited them their house just had a chain linked fence around the property, but no razor wire. There are good and bad parts of any place, just some have more good or more bad.

Oh snap, I just saw the automatic towards the end. No slushbox automatic Porsche is worth stressing about. Ive owned a Boxster S and I still own a Honda S2000. Both have been nothing but a joy. If you cant afford a Porsche dont buy one. Just go buy a Miata or Subaru BRZ. They are going to be more fun than a Porsche you cant afford to own/maintain.

Fair point about the Tiptronic, although I went for that due to some knee issues as my previous Porsches were all manual and then my knees got bad (I blame all the basketball I played when I was younger). Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

A Porsche is a purely discretionary toy. If you don't really have the resources to own even these cheap Porsches you should just focus on spending time with your family or have cheaper hobbies. Owning a Porsche is not really that big of a deal and it really isn't that expensive. Its good you have got it out of your system so now you can move on because your video sounded more like dealing with a heroin addiction than owning a $20K car.

I apparently didn’t make it clear in the video, but the biggest following was on the blog that at it’s peak was getting 100K month unique visitors and then some other social platforms have more followers (I also wrote for other blogs and magazines for a while). But, then I’ve since decided to just do this for fun in my spare time, so the career is good and this is a fun hobby when I have the time. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
