Have you ever watched a video of an Italian dish being made by a non-Italian with a slight twist? I can guarantee you that there will be comments how they did the dish wrong and tell everyone how it's "done properly" by their mama.

Yeah, I've read those but I usually do not pay any attention to them :D I'm just there to enjoy the food and get inspired to do stuff myself It's exhausting really. It's „just" food. At the end of the day, it's important if it tastes good to those who eat it. Like everything, food evolves too but people do not get that :D We humans can be pretty stupid and small-minded at times, huh? The more I'm glad that they did not let them stop those news :)

I think it's more "if you know the rules, you can break them". It's the ignorance they don't like.

You may be right. However Ben and James are professionals and even in the ultimate battles Barry, Jamie and Mike get help from them with the recipes and they get a lot of their ideas from the internet i.e. other peoples. They definitively know the rules and are thus allowed to break them. There is another thing why I deem such thinking a bit small-minded: Many good things get discovered by accident and People who are still learning are allowed to break the rules if it helps them improve. And sometimes the original is simply not to their taste so why not alter it? You say its the ignorance they don't like and that could be right. But then they are being rather ignorant themselves I think. But people like to whine and nag about things on the internet anyway :D That's why I pay them no attention in the first place I'm just here for the food :D

I agree! Cooking is all about mixing great flavours and that's what they were! Some people get to high and mighty about the wrong things I guess... But I mean i'm sure they had their reasons!

But then you now who wins before you watched it. And also, I think, is the thumbnail dish just the prettiest for many clicks but it doesn't mean it has to be the tastiest. For me it doesn't has to change :)

But it would add another layer to the battle, also giving purely visually pleasing recipes a fighting chance. It would also mean Ben does not have to pick between visuals and taste, he would always judge on taste. (remember the cereal battle where he picked Mike's)

Well, considering it was supposed to be a loaded potato skin battle, Mike's actually the only one who didn't load anything into his potato skins (except for more potato skins).

Good thing that it's a LOADED potato challenge.

Yeah, Barry's wasn't loaded potato skins; it was just a roast that was piled on top of each other and the roast potato hapened to be at the bottom.
