The Untapped Potential of Pokémon Spin-Off Games 

My big ideal idea for a new pokemon spinoff game is a 2D sidescroller Beat em up game, with a pixel art artstyle somewhat like TMNT: Turtles in time and River City Girls. Where they can perform their moves and even combos even have stats, lvl up system and skill route trees. With all the pokemon we have, u can easily set up the starters of every gen + pika, eevee and riolu being the playable characters. Having pokemon like Hydraigon, Fearow etc as level's bosses. It would be a dream for me.

I've always wanted a rhythm game for Pokemon, especially since I started playing Project Sekai! Like you said, there's so many options for songs and stuff that they could use! Also, I kinda want a game like pokemon showdown just.. yk, official? Ofc it might cost money, but if it does, they could make it so you can get enough points or something to transfer items and special pokemon to a main line game!

I wanted to see a Pokemon Warriors/Musou game. It could have a lot of possibilities for the main roster and levels.

A VGC battle focused game would be incredible. If it adds in a Metronome Mode, then it is a dream come true. Really like the sporting game idea too.

I’ve been playing through Pokemon Conquest for the past couple days and I’m absolutely loving it. The feudal Japan setting is a neat gimmick, but I actually think I’d enjoy it more if it was purely focused on exploring a known region in the Pokemon universe and with much lower stakes. They could take the same concept as Conquest but make your ultimate goal becoming the Pokemon League Champion. They could give each gym far more weight and have you fight from route to route until you are eventually capable of taking on the gym leader’s stronghold in a series of battles. Everything that Conquest does has some kind of equivalent in the main series so the blueprint is mostly done, somebody just has to make the game. It’s so simple that I feel like even Gamefreak couldn’t mess it up. Giving the game some of the more modern “life-sim” type of mechanics that Fire Emblem has would really solidify it as a 10/10. Give it to literally any indie studio with more than five people and they would have a game that feels like a much needed fresh take on the series at minimal cost to the company, could entirely use pre-existing assets, could open the door for Pokemon to take risks again if it does well, and because of the slower-paced nature of those types of games, would allow them to flesh out each region’s history and lore in ways that the main series never will/can due to time-constraints. A game in the style of Yellow that follows the plot of the anime would be neat too. And I don’t just mean Season 1. Every season. The show has existed for 20+ years and who knows how many seasons. Same goes for the manga. It’s insane that the only parts of it to ever be turned into a game are the first 40 episodes or so. The ideas write themselves. The games would sell themselves. All it requires is a parent company who cares.

I used to play a pokemon tower defence game on the PC. I doubt it still exists but I loved playing. Pokemon conquest is my favourite spin-off, even though I enjoy mystery dungeon and ranger a lot. Id love to see another.
