Marcus Aurelius is also known as “Philosopher King” and he was the last of the “Five good emperors of Rome”. Despite being a successful emperor and one of the great Stoic philosophers, he encountered many suffering and troubles in his personal life and career. We can learn from this that even though these great stoic philosophers lived stoic lives, they nevertheless experienced difficulty.
