Whenever an aspiring model is a trained dancer: "you look too much like a dancer in your pictures!"

saying "urban edge" and that photographer popping up definitely threw me for a loop. haha

As a previous Payless manager, I forgot about this episode and am just as embarrassed watching it again 😂😂😂

Danielle and Joanie are two of my favourite finalists ever. Danielle going “I’m gonna do what I do” and Joanie doing such a great job with the photo. This season is so entertaining.

My friends and I spent hours trying to do the turntable move after watching this episode 😂

The turn is one of those that if Tyra just said "plant your front foot, leave your back foot behind. Turn on that front foot and keep both where they are" or something and they might have got it. If you don't get that first foot placement then you can't do it so there's no balance test!

I do love Danielle, but part of me still wishes Joanie had one. They are definitely two of the most likable finalists.

They change up what they like all the time. Criticizing Sara for being too tall and “awkward” but a few cycles later a tall awkward girl won.

I've been doing that turn since I first saw it. Once you figure out which way to turn when your legs are crossed, it's easy and fun when pretending the hallway is a runway. Definitely not something you can do without a practice run or two, but it is doable

Idk why but the way the yellow arrow follows Sara's leg up in the picture makes me happy 😂

THIS ELIMINATION IS SO WHACK!!! LESLIE IS AN AMAZING MODEL!!!! THIS GURL WALKS AND HAS WORKED SO LONG PAST HER TIME ON ANTM! Also her photo was great this week, those legs and the way she is just so slick and my eye goes right to her! (if you love reality tv like me too, Leslie even is a RUNWAY model a couple times on Project Runway....jokes on the judges because she is quite the runway walker! Make that money Leslie, eff the haters and the judges lol).

She stepped one leg over the other and untwisted! It's really common in church fashion shows, and I saw it a lot in the fashion shows by Black modeling clubs in college. You put your left over your right, and then twist to the right.

I get secondhand embarrassment anytime Tyra does..anything lol

I always worked out which model was going home by how much Jay is criticising them on set but I assumed from his general rudeness to everybody that he insults and distracts everybody (except his favourites). But they only show his comments for those going home, as a “See. They had a bad photoshoot. Look how much Jay was criticising them compared to the others,” justification.

Joanie and Danielle were probably the best top two EVER! Both should have won this season.

Let's not forget that Tyra played a doll in the movie Life-Size. She must have dedicated considerable time to perfecting that graceful spin for her role. She was just looking for another opportunity to embarrass the ladies.

On the scale of ANTM racism from casual microaggression to the blackface/cultural appropriation photoshoot How many times Mr. Jay brings up race and ability to dance is definitely on there, probably like a 3

Crazy fact, the ONLY photo from ANTM I’ve ever seen in a magazine was Sara’s photo from this krumping shoot. It was randomly in an article about dancing.

The turn Tyra did is a simple and classic gymnastics/dance style releve turn. Since Tyra is in heels, she doesn’t need to pick the back of her feet up so it’s harder to see what’s happening. You basically just start flat then go up on your toes, then turn with your feet/ankles towards the back leg. As long as you go towards the back leg, you can turn 360° around like she did. If you turn the opposite way your knees will cross before the full turn. It does take a good amount of balance and coordination, plus the way your ankles are turned out can also affect it without heels on

It is impossible not to let out a *yesss* when Jade is modeling tbh she’s such a queen

Honestly, the turntable thing is not difficult if your foot placement is correct. Admittedly, they wouldn't get it right the first time but it's not impossible.

i actually met Brooke probably 8 years ago. She was very nice. I didnt reconize her at first and said she looked like the little mermaid because she had red hair. she loved the complliment, probably because she was used to being called out for ANTM. so it was nice to make her feel complimented rather than bringing up a shitty experience with this show.

Brooke is so gorgeous. I know her nerves didn’t make her the best model but I agree with the judges (throughout the season) why they kept her around for her so long. Her modeling was meh but during panel, they always talked about they couldn’t keep their eyes off her.

I have a feeling Tyra did that turn by having one foot slightly off the ground so her legs wouldn't cross. She was just turning on the ball of her stabilizing foot.

I always thought Brooke was one of the most beautiful girls on this show. And Danielle is the Queen. And yeah, the photography is great. Their legs and their skin looks amazing.

I remember this pre-judging challenge from middle school and literally nearly 20 years later and I still randomly try to do the turn table move 😂

This photoshoot reminded me to one of the latest season, where pretty much ALL of the challenges were dance or music video related, and one model called that out, and was kicked out on that same episode 😭

That turn that Tyra showed them is tough. I learned it when I did beauty pageants. Once you learn it, it’s fun to do. It takes a lot of balance.

It took me three tries to get this turn. You plant your right foot just under hip width apart, behind your left foot. Then you direct the rotation with your right foot until you get to half way. At that point, you primarily use your left foot to turn the rest of the way. Wa la - smooth and just like Tyra.

Unsurprising, but Tyra's advice to jut out your chin is bad for your neck and back. The human head is essentially a bowling ball balancing on the spine. Over time, that kind of posture will wear down your neck, shoulders, and back. Not a doctor, but my vocal coach helped me develop good technique by aligning my head with my spine. It helps to imagine a string on the top of your head being pulled to straighten out the body. Chin down and pulled back. This also helps open up the chest to breathe easier. Of course for models, it's not as flattering, but I highly recommend prioritizing health in that way. Like any habit, it takes practice to do it naturally. But it has helped my scoliosis (and vocal performance). Thought I'd pass on this info in case it helps someone else.

I wonder what lens they used, they could have had the same emphasis On-The-Go shoes and legs with a wideangle lens

if you notice, Tyra did not turn in a complete 360 she just did a 180 turn and then they expect the girls to do with 360 turn without moving their feet. It’s impossible. Also I used to practice this turn as a preteen when I used to watch the ship, the key is cross your feet over when you stop.

15:19 Tyra could do that twirl here thanks to her heels, high heels make it easier. If you look closely she lifted the heel of the shoe and was twirling on the outsole (the front part). It's even easier to turn around like that with platform heels, but standing on tiptoes can make it work too

What I remember most of this season are two things, Jonnie and Danielle serving in every photoshoot and Nigel's creepy obsession with Brooke

I practiced that Tyra turn for 20 minutes. You have to start with your feet in the right direction, or your totally F-d. but she doesn’t really give anyone the key. I love Joanie and Dani. Tyra just dumps on both of them.
