This song always makes me cry. Once I was in the car on a really long road trip with my whole family. My sister is bi and she knows what this song is about but my parents don’t. This song just came on in the car IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAMN MILLION HOUR ROAD TRIP! I was holding back tears and my eyes were watering. My sister looked at me and saw my watering eyes. I saw her looking at me and looked away. I know she knows I’m at least part of the trans community in some way. But she’s an amazing sister so she hasn’t said anything. I avoid anything that has to do with trans stuff around my family. I think my sister can clearly tell I’m not ready for anybody to know... I’m so lucky to have a horrible, amazing sister. Anyway I’m panicking, SHE KNOWS!

This song always makes me want to cry, because about a year ago, i came out as lesbian to my mom, and she just didn't believe me, she still makes jokes about me being straight, and i have about five witnesses for prove. and when I was little my dad hated that i was a tomboy, and would not let me get my hair cut. Both of my brothers and my grandma are homophobic, and about the other person in my "family" that I might trust enough to come out to, is my cousin's girlfriend (my cousin is a boy). My girlfriend's mom believes me more than my own mom, kinda sad huh.

As a cisgendered ally listening to this song (I just listen to it, I don’t use it for anything I know this song belongs to trans people I wouldn’t take that away from them) I love that trans people have this for them. Music is all about self-expression and messages through the verses of a song. It had always been like that for me as there are other songs that could represent me and finding a song to represent these people that are part of our society whether people like it or not is rare but to find something like this that’s actually becoming more and more popular is amazing.

I figured out my mom was accepting of me cause she knew I was pan she wasn't bothered by it so one day I was at hot topic there was a shirt that said Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Questioning And she said I could not have it I wasn't surprised but later she told my aunt she wouldn't allow me to get the shirt because she doesnt support transgender people and it's inhuman to mutilate your body so I thought she just disliked transsexuals but I still cried but recently my grandma (who I live with) said her and my mom had a fight like this Mom:if Ashley ever talks to Vanessa about those transgenders I'm gonna slap her Nana:not if Vanessa is the one who brings it up Mom:ugh your so annoying *more arguing she didn't tell me all the details* but yeah so I ain't coming out to my mom BTW I'm a trans boy
