Alissia is canadian and more a pop singer. She and TW were asked to participate to Metallica Black Album. This was during covid-19. They did the whole re-writing, recording and mixing in a week. When they recorded the video in an old factory in Monterey, Alissia could not be there, so they project her onto the walls. This is not just a cover, it's a tribute and a truly new interpretation of the song. TW and Alissia played it live together at The Troubadour in LA last year (first time for Alissia to be in front of a rock audience)

Hey 2nd Hand Souls! Alessia Cara is a Grammy-winning Canadian Singer/Songwriter, who shares the same International Management company (21 Entertainment Group) as The Warning. Alessia was approached by Metallica and 21 Entertainment suggested the collaboration with The Warning. So, Producer Matt Squire flew from LA to Monterrey Mexico and worked with The Warning, and with Alessia they worked via Zoom with her in Toronto. They stripped the original song to it's basics and rewrote it as a Pop song, then Rockified (Warnified) it! They did all this in ONE WEEK to meet the publishing deadline for the album. Absolute Genius!!

This is a masterpiece of a cover .An infusion of pop meets rock music , to a metal song and it was done to perfection .Maybe played from a females perspective with a touch of gothic and haunting feel to it . Cheers guys .
Yup, in my opinion this is one of the best things The Warning has ever done. The blending of the pop style of Alessia with the hard rock of TW is genius. Buildups and transitions are things TW is especially good at, and the entire song is a buildup to that climactic ending. Love it.
Very creative, I think they realized that it has been done by so many already, including themselves when they were much younger, so when they were told by Metallica to shake it up and turn it upside down they took the instructions to heart. As has already been mentioned they were under as deadline of one week. They collaborated with Allissia who was in Canada and had to use her image as a projection of the wall of the abandoned textile mill. The story is that the site was home to hundreds of bats and that one of them is actually captured in the video flying past. I don't know if that's true as I've never been able to see it, but it is appropriate because it makes the song even spookier. Thanks guys, hope all is well.

Alessia Cara (Canadian pop star) was also asked to participate but had no idea what to do. Because she shares the same management group as The Warning, she contacted them for help. It was difficult to do as Alessia was in Canada and The Warning were in Mexico and travel with COVID was not happening. They made it work and developed/recorded this completely re-imagined song in one week. They created the music video with the same logistical restrictions. Because of that you will see that Alessia appears as a projection on the wall in the video as she was not there. It was recorded in an abandoned textile mill outside of Monterrey, Mexico

This bad ass masterpiece they did for the blacklist LP, breaks my main rule, of not doing anything in the studio, you can't do Live. They play this at every show, and only use a backing track for Alessia's Lyrics. The Warning is a killer studio quality live band, and prove it show after show, after show. They dial in their signature sound tight, and right with an amazing road crew. When you learn their songs and then see them live, you can join them, and sing along for the entire show. Most People don't realize how hard that is to pull off. People who feel lost at a show, because the band is not who they expected, sure realize it too. Go see them live, and see for yourself! 🤘
Actually has to do with alphabetical order and the order of the songs on the original, but when Fox Sports asked Metallica if they would re-record it, they pointed them at this version. In any event, the Blacklist definitely saves the best for first.
They were in Huntsville back in September with Halestorm, about as close as you can get! They made it to Atlanta last May (had my tickets for over 2 years waiting for that one!), and September.

Alessia Cara (not Alicia or Allissia) is an outstanding Grammy-winning Italian-Canadian pop singer. Back in 2014, The Warning did a straight-up cover of the song at ages 9, 12, and 14. It is well worth checking out, with over 24 million views.
There was also a comment on their official video of Choke where someone said something to the effect of, "I didn't know Victoria's Secret had it's own rock band."
This is far from my favourite song of their's however I have grown more fond of it over time. But I have to hand it to them for not only completely rewriting the music to the most famous metal song of all time, but also making it softer. And pulling it off. I just watched an interview where they briefly talked about it, and it took them a week from the moment they began writing and arranging, to the mixing and mastering being completed. This included collaborating with Alissia Cara, who was in Canada.
I love their version. The breakdowns and all. I'm impressed. These ladies have cemented their rock Goddess stature in history. Can't wait to hear more of them. Tom

So the warning just released a live concert version of this and the song reverent both high quality videos. Reverent is more slower with the drummer Paulina singing lead from behind the kit with guest guitarist primo villarreal danys guitar teacher.
