People have already surmised the only reason NRS did this is because of crossplay. They waited for crossplay to be implemented and run successfully so they didn't have to make like 3 different leaderboards

Dude, when they finally told us what the warrior shrine was I literally spit out my drink with laughter. It took them a year to implement a "mode" in the game that's been in menus since launch and it's just to promote the top 5 players in the previous ranked season. 🤣🤣🤣 Sorry, think I'll keep exploding zombies in rainbows of awesomeness with a chainsaw welding ninja cheerleader 👍

Warrior shrine should’ve been individual character rankings and make those ranks of the characters displayed before a ranked match when selected said character. Example; your a rank 34 shao playing against a ranked 26 Raiden or something. I think it would’ve been better received

Day 1 people were saying warrior shrine is likely just a leaderboard. Best case scenario it's a way to buy old KL pieces. It's pretty insane to expect more than that. That being said, there's no reason why this couldn't have been in day 1.

The fact that the Warrior Shrine is just a top 5 list after being "coming soon" for a year is actually insane, but I think that overall, the expansion is looking good. I am a big fan of the towers, especially in Injustice 2 with the guild version, that was awesome. However, I am worried that the rewards are still going to suck which would make it pointless.

We waited so long for it to be just a place where you see the ones who are abusing the meta the most per season lol But allegedly it was gonna be where you could get the old Kombat league skins that you missed but it looks like they put that in the new towers of time.

A whole year just to see the a statue for the top players of those dumb seasons… and seeing the towers of time returning is just another boring tiring grinding mode literally nothing but a waste of time. (For those that are excited for these new stuff being added I hope you all enjoy it)

I honestly think NRS couldn't finish whatever the warrior shine was supposed to be originally so they cobbled together something so people will stop asking about it. They should of just taken the good idea that players had to make it a place to redeem points or whatever for kombat league items. Instead they leave it sitting there empty for a year then throw something together for the Khaos Reigns update.

Warrior shrine reminds for MK11 when they announced AI battles. I was soooooo disappointed. Same as this.

NRS will always do the LEAST amount of work possible

At first I thought the Khaos reigns expansion cost was too much but now that we’re actually seeing the content as a whole I think the cost of just the expansion is pretty fair. • Your getting Animalities for every character (which so far every animality has been pretty cool) • A new Story mode • two New buyable brutalities for characters in an newly updated store. • Towers of Time (new way to get store currency and content) • Three Awesome looking characters at launch and three guest characters post launch. • New Stages and stage variants •New Balancing update including but not limited too: New Base character moves, New Kameo Moves, (unknown buffs/nerfs) • New costumes for pre ordering and included in the expansion update. And more depending on the edition. I realize allot of the things mentioned are technically free but if you were to add them to the cost of say a 40$ expansion it would make a little more sense why Khaos Reigns costs what it does. Either way the expansion seems to be a Giant W and could possibly set the game in a good direction.

I have a friend that goes crazy for these new trash games. I'm so tired of hearing about 2k, MK, Helldivers 2, COD. All these companies are greedy and not making complete games. I hate what has become of the video game community, I wish it went back to us nerds. MK "was" my favorite game in the world but now I can't support this game. Played it on release and after season 2, I was done with MK. So, until somebody with balls goes back to the roots, MK is dead to me.

And people still jump to defend this game I swear Mortal Kombat is the Fast n Furious of fighting games because no matter how many shitty games they release, shills and fanboys will always buy and defend them.

Honestly MK was never about hard rock. The first 2 games was more inspired by KungFu inspired soundtracks. 3 was more urban/techno and MK4 was like a mixture of the first 3. 3d didnt have that much rock other than the immortal soundtrack but i could be wrong about the 3d era ost

There’s a positive and a negative to the warrior showing starting with the positive. It is convenient that I could see the leaderboard because I don’t really go on social media to check for the FGC. I’ll only know what I’m watching concert creators that bring it up. And I’m not a casual either. I just think the FGC is boring to watch mainly because a lot of the FGC community have the personality of paint drying. Now the negative is that NRS could’ve told us what the warrior shrine is a year ago instead of not saying nothing and leaving it a mystery getting the fans hyped, and then it ends up being a leader boy y’all deserve to get cursed out for that. I don’t really care about warrior shrine. It was pretty obvious what it was given the name, plus we got towers of time so it’s not like we ‘lost content’ in a sense. It was never like it was confirmed to be a mode in the first place either.

Hey Mike I came across your videos scrounging to MK videos love your content and your approach and the interviews you do with a lot of pro players, I agree with everything you said in this video but hear me out MK is in a very unique position compared to Street Fighter or Tekken, they are one of the few franchises who could literally develop a standalone game with any of the many popular characters and flesh out the lore an action rpg or adventure game and it would be a hit It was kind of done with mythologies, Shaolin Monks and Deception (Shoutout Damashi) that being said I truly feel like WB acquiring the NetherRealm is the main reason for the lack of polish in their games and for their games feeling stale to a certain degree probably due to them being given a fixed release date and not allowing them to take their time with development. The numerous patches and move additions and even skins to a certain degree, invasions mode etc are proof of that and a lot of franchises are starting to suffer from this and like Sikander said after Khaos reigns releases this is now the full game a year later, If this game launched how it is right now the opinion would be quite different. Big fan broski (I think the warrior shrine was supposed to a challenge mode that would have you facing off against the ghost of the top players on the leaderboards). The game is finally where it was supposed to be when it came out all we can do is wait and see and hope that Netherealm gets bought but until then we out here. Salute my brother

I’ve been a fan of MK for years. I don’t hate MK1 personally, its gameplay is better than 11 however it’s clear that NRS is just half listening to us with all these features. We’ve been begging for Sektor & Cyrax to come back as fully fleshed out characters for over a decade. Just for them to bring them back in the most controversial way possible. The warrior shrine is absolutely stupid. I thought it was gonna be a shrine to obtain all the Kombat League rewards, but all it ends up being is a f*cking leaderboard. Now it’s cool they are reintroducing Towers of Time and you can get all the old KL skins from it, but why make this red herring with the Warrior Shrine? Why didn’t you just call it anything else, but a SHRINE? Do they not understand how misleading that is? I know I’m shitting on MK hard rn, but I just want to reiterate. I am a fan, I would even say I am a shill because the amount of costumes I buy in that shitty premium shop. I know that the game has improved and they have been making a turn around. Lowering the store prices, finally adding crossplay, improving invasions, actually surprising me with how fun the DLC characters are. I’m even excited for Khaos Reigns even though it’s just a goofy parody of the MCU, but I think that’s fun. They have made improvements and I am not turning a blind eye to that. These are the reasons I left MK for Tekken. I wasn’t even a Tekken fan until Tekken. I know I played 7 a bit, and probably a few of the older games a long time ago but not enough to remember. I know you got your issues with Tekken 8, but from someone like me, an MK fan since I was a little kid, coming into Tekken 8 this game has wowed me. I’d even say it’s my 2nd favorite fighting game overall rn (MK9 is still the GOAT IMO). I’ve been watching you ever since I got into Tekken and you really opened my eyes on things with MK and fighting games as a whole.

Soundtracks are super important to fighting games in my opinion. You can't fight to shitty music. 😂 Tekken has been legendary in terms of music. All of the games have super solid music besides 7, and even it has a few tracks that are bops. MK hasn't had good music (in my opinion) since MKX.

Like I said, WB and NRS pushed for 30 years anniversary and released unfinished product, a cash grab… the game should have been released in 2025

They had to have seen people speculating. They had to know a leader board is only exciting for the 5 people who actually made it the previous seasons. I think the biggest thing is, if that’s all it was gonna be why TF did it need to be delayed for an entire year. Like it’s no way nobody there had the thought of how will this come off when we delayed it for a year. They could of just left it off at that point. The unfortunate part is there weren’t any real negatives about the last for the most part but that was so disappointing it just killed the hype.

If it was best player with a character or like top 1000 or something that would be sick but we’re just gonna see pro players 💀 one year all for that bro
