I love the way Pete and Roger look at each other at the end. What a career ! One day they will pass on. And my God what a loss it will be. But really the Who will live forever in my heart. Thanks guys !!!
What a song, one of the many underrated tracks from Quadrophenia, that melodic arpeggiated section that Pete performs live here (and Roger sings on the album) is truly beautiful!
It's hilarious that Pete acts like he and Roger don't "get" each other. What a connection this clip shows between the two of them. True bonds between fellow musicians of the highest caliber from what I can see.
Part of it is as fans, we tend to read into stuff especially if it supports what we want to be true. The other part of it is, that’s just Pete lol. We all know he’s kinda a judgmental , hard to get along with kind of guy. I don’t think even he believes everything he says. I genuinely believe he loves Roger, and I’m sure he misses Keith and John all the time. He’s probably just too “scared” to admit it, easier to be “a jerk” or that guy who “doesn’t care”.
Only The Who can make a cold Monday night better , here in Argentina , in winter with a pandemic , no future , and no way out for the moment , thank you guys , I grew up with your songs in the good ones and the bad ones ......
@@sheatiller2465 Zeppelin isn't close to The Who either live, or especially in recorded material. The songs themselves from The Who are far, far better.
That look of joy and happiness between Pete and Roger at the end made this entire video worth it. I sometimes think their public bickering is just an act and that there is a real understanding between them after all these years.
As a young mod circa 1980 i got my hands on this album and this song in particular was one of my favs .. still is .. the whole mod thing never leaves you and this album is truly an anthem.
Quadraphenia was the 1st album I totally wore out, I would sit in my room smoking weed and listening to each song closely and now I know every lyric to every song😊
ROGER HAD HIS VOCAL CHORDS REPAIRED THRU SURGERY I BELIEVE BACK IN 2011 OR 2012!! HIS VOICE SOUNDS ALMOST AS GOOD AS AROUND THE WHO ARE YOU PERIOD 1977 1978 ERA!!
@@dougnewman8379 I would say Roger and Moon are the worst all-round musicians in the band. John, no doubt takes first place, followed by Pete. I know Keith’s a one of a kind drummer, but that eccentricity is probably what makes him a limited musician. John is a beast amongst them for being able to keep up with Moon while his own twist to the band, as part of the rhythmic duo.
@@dougnewman8379 Pete is definitely not the “worst musician”. That title goes, unfortunately, to Roger. He’s a truly beautiful, one of a kind singer. Most powerful voice in rock, in my opinion. However, that’s pretty much where it ends. Pete is a top shelf guitar player, brilliant composer, brilliant songwriter, and a solid vocalist.
The Who are one of the most exciting British Bands of all times and never disappoint l was at this concert my first live introduction was back in 1965 in Portsmouth my last encounter was at Wembley Stadium recently the excitement is palpable as always. I really hope to see them again soon
wow..they will rock till the end...what a great band they have been.. i listened this in 74 ,was young and care for bee gees,eagles,beatles,etc..they blowed my mind ..great great record quadrophenia
Best version ever made Pete looks so happy to be up there and there was almost a hug moment from Roger as he shifted towards Pete both in the moment ❤ Who fans know it’s strictly business “Nothing is planned by the sea and the sand……
Lovely to see Pete and Roger - not really the best of friends, but forever linked through the music Pete writes and Roger expresses through his voice - interact here.
I love how they’ve kept their organization tight thru all the years : Ringo Starr’s son , Zak Starkey is their drummer - and he is every bit as awesome as Moon was, and Pete’s brother , Simon is on guitar. The bassists they’ve hired since John passed have more than able to fill and expound on that role - some of the finest in the business.
By the way that isn't Zak he was out with an injury. Zak was good but it is blasphemous to put him on the same level with Moon. The same goes for suggesting that any one could fill John's shoes much less expound on his role.
@@billmurphy6861 Well I did, and I dont give a fuck about your "sacred cows" - they taste better grilled and done med In all honesty , no one gives a fuck , so why should you?
I surely miss The Ox and Moonie, but with the more subdued, controlled playing of the current rhythm section the beauty of the songs becomes clearer, I think.
incredible performance and incredible song gave that feeling a great song gives, chills and the feeling of being fully alive. I prefer this drummer over Zach.
old men singing teenager's distress. Great Song !!!! PT is excellent, very very expressive. RD is good also, his stumble is cute. They are 2 pillars. I like the drummer, subtle play, somewhere between Moon and Simon Philips.
You can be on Your seventies , sixties or even forties years old , but after all , with this band ( the best ever ) and this song you can feel a teen forever....thaks
Im from Mesquite Tx,but im realizing i should have been British and been born in Manchester England,my 3 favorite bands are The Beatles,The Who,and Oasis,,damn The Beatles are from Liverpool
The drummer is Scott Devours. Not sure if he was filling in for Zak on the tour or if he's a permanent replacement. I know Zak had an injury or something like that hence he sat the Quadrophenia tour out. Devours is very good and did a great job on the tour!
"Scott" who has been playing since Daltrey's solo tours a few years back. I LOVE Starkey. But--dare I say it--Scott channels Moon about the best I have heard.
Tom Traynor Yeah, I dare say that until I'm on that stage (which will be never), he's the best Moonie we're gonna get. He's really good though, I like what he's doing :)
FWIW, for most of this tour and generally at this point, Moon's godson (and Ringo's actual son), Zak Starkey is behind the cans. I was lucky enough to go to this particular tour to see him play. Devours had to quickly replace Zak briefly during this point in the tour because Zak had an injury. He and Devours are about the same level, with Devours probably technically taking a small lead, but since Moon actually taught Zak some things, there is still some of his legacy coming back to life onstage.
Classic Rock Kid zak Starkey Ringo s lad Keith was Ringo stars mate and ended up in i think in California moving house out there near to him and taught young zak how to play drums Keith style he fell in love with Keith the who and said he wanted to play for the who even when he was a free agent and went band to band including oasis until THE WHO he made it but ofcourse he was taught by moon so he has got that power almost inbred in him or has? great drummer he is
