You must have NOT watched the show at all. Or you totally missed the point. Marlo retaliated against Lex for killing Fruit. But if he was egotistical, he would have started a war. His crew was down for another war, but Marlo said no- just get Lex for killing Fruit. Fruit died behind jealousy- hooking up with the wrong girl at the wrong time. Lex would have killed any guy behind his ex. Fruit was a trusted lieutenant within Marlo's ranks. Although he wasn't the best, he worked his way up there and was respected.
@@donnydarkoh6411 One major code of the gangsterdom lifestyle is loyalty. Another code is respect. Marlo only respected Fruit- in the manner of how he respected Michael's determination. Determination is another code. Fruit was one of his lieutenants who was at the initial beginnings of the Stanfield/ Barksdale's corner wars. When Fruit told Marlo that Bodie's crew was stealing customers from his corner, Marlo reluctantly educated Fruit about the hustle game and bringing him his expected amount of money. Then Marlo counseled with his most trusted enforcer, Chris, about rallying all of his underlings. Trust is another code. Eventually, Marlo declared war on Barksdale's people after he uncovered Avon's spy- the chick named Devon. Their personal feelings had nothing to do with their overall motives because of the system of rugged individualism that they were subjugated to. Those kids were accustomed to dying young. So they don't get attached to other people like how mainstream society denotes. They didn't even really mourn Fruit's death. I had a cousin who was senselessly murdered by her ex husband in a murder/ suicide. I cried every time I thought about their broken family for three years. And sometimes, I still cry for about our loss. Gangsters like Marlo, are numbed down to the loss of life. It's normal to them. But it is a sad reality. God bless us all.
Cutty didn't even flinch when Fruit pulled that gun on him. He knew Fruit wasn't really about that life. Cutty saw right through that bullshit, turned around and didn't even look back. That's some real OG shit.
He didn't even look at the gun. He knew Fruit would never use it. He was all talk. Plus the gun was so close he knew he could drop Fruit with right to the jaw before he even knew what was going on. The only problem would have been the other dudes might use theirs. So he saved it for another day.
This episode was the intro to the mind of the new generation . Dude from Marlo’s crew was ready to kill bubbles friend over nothing earlier in the episode. Then fruit robs a notorious serial killer here. Then right after this scene fruit’s youngin tries to sell dope to major Colvin. It’s saying how the newer generation has little regard for anything or anyone.
I think part of Cutty's decision to let Fruit live was an understanding that guy as devious and full of shit as Fruit would probably get killed anyway out there on the street.
@@ramonalejandrosuare Nah it was due to the dead kid Slim shot, had he not see a young boy dead he'd of blown his brains all over that pavement and that would've solidified him getting back in the game.
Cutty was actually pretty confrontational, having a warrior spirit. However, a lot of times it was driven by love or a desire to improve things or get kids off the street. You could sense he was heading into a confrontation in a lot of scenes. He seemed to draw it out of people.
He spent 15yrs in the can and is north of 40. He knows OGs doing life and declining in health. He doesn't want to spend the rest of his years that way...
1:16 - Cutty showed absolutely no fear. Fruit seemed to have the edge initially, but Cutty had his number, even letting Fruit live. Fruit not only owed Cutty money, but eventually owed him his life.
The old “OG’s” had no respect for there own older “OG’s”! It’s a mugs game very very few get out of it with anything the vast majority end up dead and I’m not in the least bit bothered. If I hear some 12 year old gangster fool gets gunned down I only think: “did anyone record it”
I remember initially watching this scene and feeling sorry for Cutty, but now that I'm analyzing it, Cutty really did show no fear. If you notice he never even looks at the gun nor drops his gaze for a second at Fruit. He just stares and thinks "Alright you little piece of shit. Dully fucking noted and not going unpunished" Not to mention. His name is Fruit...
Now she’s the kind of employee I want working for me. Clearly hard working and able to multitask successfully, to completion. Fiercely determined. Clearly able to follow any directions. Not afraid to get her hands dirty and get the job(s) done. I mean, she seemed to have a real sense of enthusiasm for her work here, along with a confident, can-do positive attitude. Just wow. I hope she faxes me a résumé soon.
When you got a old school solider on your team you treat him PROPER..Because the old school was ALWAYS the REAL thing...Youngins NOW percentage wise leave you in disbelief and or speech less..They need to be TAUGHT A LESSON OR 3✌✌✊✊
the casting in this show is one of the best ive ever seen...fruit does have that look of someone we all knew either in highschool or a family member with that fake gangster vibe you just want to slap the piss out of and call him out on their bullshit. and btw i just farted
I remember once seeing someone misspell it as "cuddy" and now I can't stop thinking the very idea of cutty in a tux working his 9-5 as a highly esteemed dean of a highly regarded hospital and cuddy as a time weathered streetwise gang soldier
0:07 That's the same kid who, just moments after Cutty leaves, tries to foolishly sell drugs to Major Colvin. And the one who Herc asked when looking for those hats with the sideways bills.
And the one who later gets trained by Cutty, and is friends with Michael. News flash, the show is about the same circles of people who all live in the same neighborhoods. You're going to see the same characters over and over, genius.
Justin He also went on to become one of Cutty's best after seeing how much Fruit feared Cutty - I'm not saying the two are connected though, I'll leave that to one of the many analysts on here
And that would have completely changed the whole the story and the whole point of Cutty's story. It simply wasn't in the character of Dennis Wise to kill Fruit. It would have made the story worse/not make sense if he did.
cutty was such a great character, he trusts a young man with his package and gets fucked over yet when he has opportunity to kill him he turns the other cheek and lets him live. not for long tho ofc
This was unrealistic. No way this would’ve happened to someone they KNOW used to work for Avon and who was still cool with him. No way. Also he should’ve smoked that nigga when he had that one chance to do so on GP. Pulled a gun in my face and didn’t shoot? Nah
I doubt if this would’ve happened in real life knowing this mans rep and his relationship with Avon. Out of all the situations on this series this one made absolutely no sense.
Cutty probably didn't tell Avon what happened since he knew what was gonna happen, hell, he probably could have killed Fruit if he wanted (and I'm not talking about that other scene). The whole point of his story in season 3 is to show how conflicted he is inside, he doesn't wanna do anything related to drug dealing again, but he's having a tough time to simply get back to society, because that's what happens when you go to jail. I also like how Avon says how there are only two days in prison, and Cutty answers right back something like "nah, they seemed like 14 long years to me", it just shows how his perspective has changed.
I remember like it was yesterday a Store on the Corner of 29th Street there was an ally way before you got to The Alameda A Man Pulled His Gun on Me I must have been some kind of angry at the time I can't remember why. I folded my arms and waited, He put His Gun away and walked off and so did I without looking back went home on 28th Street like it never happened. Wire Sparks up so Much Memories.
cutty got caught lacking, how he walking around at night in the hood investigating a drug deal gone bad without a gun. he lucky fruit didnt blow his brains out.
I wish they would showed scene of Cutty back in the day to get an idea of how much of a bad ass he was special that story slim told about him killing a guy and calling the police to pick up the body
They gave a hint of it with the way he slapped that girl and was ice cold about it... you also know that the old cutty would've lit Fruit up when he and Slim made a hit, and he was ready to put work in on Marlo's boys if it weren't for the idiot driver.
you pull out a weapon, be it a simple pencil, or loaded weapon. You have escalated things. understand, I am older with more responsibilities. A lot depends on me, I do not want to die. Once you pull that weapon, I will be merciless. I want these youngins to know, that that shit aint cool, you can pay for it with your life.
I just realised. Is this why Marlo was pulling Fruit up telling him his numbers were way down, cos he was selling his own package he robbed from Cutty?
Fruit lowkey saves Cutty by scamming him on the pack. If Cutty were able to get that money his job as an enforcer wouldn’t have seemed so pointless. Doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s a good dude, but that’s just how it goes. And fruit was still a maggot btw don’t get that twisted.
