I thought it was funny how Herc said he'd be pitching, not catching, and then picked an actual baseball catcher. Love how all the details matter in The Wire.
David Simon wrote a blog about this joke. He didn't just want to put this guy on blast without talking to him about it first. Just so every one knows, the real Gus Triandos thinks this is the funniest joke.
@@chekaweedie of all the "justifiable", or at least explainable crime that took place in the show, crushing on young girls comes out of nowhere to leave more questions than answers
I love the ending after the guy says, "it's just an expression " and Herc has a face that looks like he's thinking, "I've been going about this all wrong!" Lmao!
@Andrew Johnson it's wild how they depicted herc as irrational and impulsive in action, but deepthinking and profound in other situations🤔man's out here pondering existence and sexuality
Came here for the "Oh Rob. Oh Rob." and the "Hey Doze." Did not disappoint. This is one of my favorite funny moments of The Wire; as serious as it is it's also got some moments that made me genuinely laugh.
@@youknowwhoyouare2269 Not sure what you are getting at. Both me and the OP were saying that Herc is funnier than anything on SNL. Did you ride the short bus to school?
These two fucking owned the scenes they were in together. So hilarious. I've got parents who reckon Herc and Carver took The Wire from being brilliant to probably the best series they ever watched, thanks to the comic element they provide taking the edge off the seriousness of the plot. My folks are both 70 years-old as well, which makes it even better.
Gotta love how he keeps trying to justify it to Carver but Carver just keeps baiting him with the situation. "Olsen twins. Slaves . Day and night. Name a dude."
Herc wasn't as deliberately ruthless as Valczek was. Didn't have the guts nor the brains to blackmail someone for office politics either. He'd rather go out on the street and fuck people up.
Haha haaaa omg you put that together perfectly I really brought back some memories made me laugh my ass off that was yeah you know how to make a video what can I say
Season 3 Episode 2 was released on Sept 26 2004, which means this season was likely filmed 4-6 months prior to that. The Olsen twins were born on the 13th of June 1986; this means that Herc was likely fantasizing about them when they were still minors.
This is why this show and the Sopranos will always be the best. The subtle symbolism in the show with how Herc names a catcher as his guy. He wanted Carver to know he’s pitching not catching and even names a literal catcher. Pretty funny
Man, The Wire was the best show EVER with Game of Thrones pulling up at second. Great dialogue, even the BS stuff that didn't add anything big to the series. Just people BS'ing.
I doubt you still think Game Of Thrones is second after that 6th season. The Wire is second after Breaking Bad. The 5th season of The Wire makes it second because it's shit.
Lol the Sopranos and Season 1 of True Detective take a big old gabagool shit all over game of thrones and breaking bad (which is sopranos lite for zoomers)
@@thefilmeffect6089 The Wire is leagues better than Breaking Bad. First of all just the scope of the message that comes across The Wire. From the vacants to city hall, from babies to old ass retirees, how they all connect and feed the system. Then they develop all these characters to show its a big cycle. The system replaces itself. Forget getting to the city being a main character, or how all the side characters are just as interesting as the main characters, or how they pulled this off with a cast full of unknowns at the time. Breaking bad is good tv, but it doesnt touch The Wire.
@@MrMexicola654 I can't count The Wire as better than Breaking Bad or even The Sopranos because Season 5 is shit. Don't get me started on season 5 because it still pisses me off how mediocre that final season is. Season 1, 3, and 4 are some of the best television is history, but season 2 is average and I can't stand season 5. Breaking Bad gets better every single season. It doesn't have the social commentary that The Wire does, but it's so perfectly crafted that it more than makes up for a lack of commentary.
season 3 of the wire came out 16 years ago the olsen twins are currently 33 years old 33-16 they were 17 at the time when i said kidsi didnt mean they were little girls sucking there thumbs, i meant they were young as fuck, oh and look at that by US standards they were underage at the time. No way in hell would a show get away with that today with everyone being all PC and all
This confused the hell out of me, like why was Herc even bothering answering it? Was Carv actually going to call up the Olsen twins and hook Herc up? I just don't get why this "banter" was so one-sided. In this episode generally speaking Herc acted like a total bitch. Didn't understand why when Poot was fucking with them at the movie theater they just stood there like they couldn't say anything.
