@@luisherrera3527 missed the point of his statement…you shoot at the man and miss you have a 95% chance of dying and that 5% sums somebody helping yo ass 🤣💯
@@amirrezahamidyan yup. Nobody could have done that part like him. Broke my heart when his character died and when I found out he passed in real life it was horrible. Rip to a great actor and legend.
Love how Bey reminds Stink at 1:10 that their only beef was Scar, they have no quarrel with whoever he's with. That is discipline, that's when the game still had rules.
@@walter2695 it used to. Gangs was invented to protect the ppls in the neighborhood bck when there was structure and a purpose now its no purpose but clout chasing
Man was everything a black man in the game hated and he still was nearly untouchable. His death coming from a kid made sense because no one expected it
One of the many examples of how good the writing in this series was: the mere mention of bird reminds wee bay to tell stinkum to get rid of the gun…because, as real heads will remember, bird was always flashing that .380 and would never get rid of it as he should’ve.
I’ll always remember this scene by Omar saying “Hey now” and then blasting Stinkum with the shotgun. Idk why but I say it every time I come across this clip
0:30 _”You dont ever wanna be the last man to a party, ya feel me”_ ? _”It’s why I show up to a job an hour before…sometimes two.”_ _”I dont want nobody settin up on me while Im settin up on them.”_ _The Wire_ is always full of wisdom👊🏾✊🏾💯
The bit I love is at 2:47 where he is confused by the whistling. Through the pain and adrenaline he still can focus enough to think, "what the hell...?"
I always thought the look was just calmness. Weebay was a psychopath who probably felt fear far less than normal folk. Remember Michael Corleone in The Godfather when he is protecting his father at the hospital. Michael's hands are steady but the normal person has a massive adrenaline dump.
@@haasman100 I get they're uncomfortable. But the streets of Baltimore are basically a warzone. If you were on a corner you were putting your life in danger
Chris said " always aim for the head. Unless they're far then aim for the groin or the belly. Why? Because the vest don't go down that low. Then you come up and finish him off with a _____? Headshot".
1:41 On my last series rewatch, I noticed that for this scene they took a shot of Brandon Price (Stinkum Artis) taking his glove off with his teeth, and played it in reverse to make it look like he's putting a glove on. You're going to have to watch it a few times until you see what I mean, but think about it: have you ever put a glove ON while holding it with your teeth? Maybe they realized that the shot just before, where they show his lap but one hand is ungloved, made no sense. But they couldn't reshoot it so they just played a shot of him taking his glove off in reverse as the next scene. And most people would never even notice. Took me 12 times to see it....
I mean, this isn't confirmed or anything. This is just an observation of mine and I could be totally wrong. I just love picking up on these little things on each rewatch. I remember on my third or fourth rewatch it dawned on me where Bubbles got his name: there are one or two scenes where he is nodding out and slowly blowing little bubbles when his mouth cracks open. How the hell did they create little details like that? Only a perfectly made show, like The Wire, has these things. It makes you feel like you're watching real people living a real story. Sometimes I can't tell if the characters were written, and then the actors worked harder than most to bring them to life, or the writers worked harder than most to create the characters based off the actors. Maybe a bit of both.
The fingerprints on the gun arent important but getting the gunshot residue on skin and under your fingernails is what u wanna avoid because that shows u fired said gun
Nah, Bey was hidden, so Omar was smart not to track him down. His footsteps and/or shadow would've alerted Bey to him approaching and Bey could've rose up and taken him out. Omar was not reckless. That's why he lasted so long. An amateur would've pursued Bey and got got.
@@KtotheG I think you might be underestimating and also over estimating Omar???? I won’t deny he’s smart out there and that’s why he lived through so much but Omar was fearless and bey was injured and clearly out of it after getting shot… I fr think Omar could have easily finished the job but he truly did leave him as a lesson “you come at the king you best not miss” really does say it all(I’m not underestimating bey either I know he’s one of avons head soldiers for a reason)
@@Nyraze Why would he leave him to recover and then come back and retaliate? Bey was injured but also still armed and capable of inflicting death or serious injury on Omar, and Omar knew it.
Glad someone else noticed it. People loafing watching you are rarely there for your benefit. Better to put up a camera or surveillance gear. Watch, learn.
It's for cinematics. They do try to zoom in a little bit so it looks like the car is closer too. Also the reason this follows the "get their early" scene from later in the show is because it's making the point that they were in that car for a while so the targets on the corner wouldn't have seen them pull up.
Couple of reasons. 1. You don't get involved in the next man's business. Its an unwritten rule. The streets are the streets. Whatever goes down goes down and if UT has nothing to do with you, best bet is to keep it moving otherwise you make it about you. If you follow. Also if you doing dirt you know somebody always watching it's on you to peep your surroundings to know who's watching. You gotta check for affiliations. Chances are your direct opposition will not be settling up on you in broad daylight in full view. It removes the element of surprise, but kids or females especially posted up near the spot while not uncommon definitely need to be clocked in the mental rolodex. 2. Alot cats in the hood don't have anything or anywhere better to do or be. So spinning or posting up on the block are normal past times. So once you start trying to regulate who can be where you doing the surveillance on yourself because you are giving up your own position. Few other things go into it as well.
Fun Fact: That rat running across the road wasn't intentional or part of the script. A real rat just happened to run out while filming the scene, they liked it and kept it in.
@@mellofello6792 didn't see it in the comments anywhere and I really doubt "everyone" knew that, probably only hardcore The Wire fans. You sound like a hater.
Omar and Wee Bay had a certain professionalism in their own way. Despite the shootout and the outcome, Wee Bay was smart enough to dump the gun despite his wounds and the man down. The wire is always been about codes and the strength of Street knowledge.
Out of the shows you mentioned Boardwalk Empire is the only one that can hang with the wire. The only one of those that ended well too. SONS sucked! Some say Sporanos ending sucked as well.
@@jarthur8902 The Sopranos ending was terrible, fantastic all the way through upto that point, the movie that was released last year was rubbish too, waited 14 years for it and it sucked, for me The Wire is the best, I didn't watch it when it was on at the time, bought the entire boxset 5 or 6 years ago and watched it all in like 2 weeks, I've rewatched in twice since then too.
@@TheBlackPrince447 It seems like once the writers get lazy they make a lead character gay to give it more of a storyline. Pay attention to Sons of Anarchy and The Sopranos. Did you ever get to watch Boardwalk Empire? I'm telling you it's SUPER DOPE!!!! Michael K.Williams (Omar from the Wire) is in it too. That's crazy he was in 2 of the best series EVER! RIP🙏🏿
@@jarthur8902 Yes I've watched Broadwalk Empire, it's great, if u loved that you would most probably like Peaky Blinders if u haven't seen it yet? Basically set in the same era 1920's and 1930's but in the UK not America.
@@TheBlackPrince447 Definitely! I'm about to watch the new season this week (of Peaky on Netflix). It's a great show but it can't hold a candle next to Boardwalk.
Show up to the job early, tip your hand. As David Hackword said in his book to guys going to Vietnam, "Always assume that you're being watched". Let someone else set up the information, someone that you trust. Always someone who is quiet, reliable and careful. Doesn't want trouble but wants a little favor. Let them do the surveillance. You come in, you do, you go out.
First time watching this , i didnt pay much attention to stincum but now as i rewatch.. he was a solid soldiers, inner circle type shit. Now i can see why this was a loss.
The rat running across the street is great film making. M.K.W is a great actor and the writers were terrific. Best "Cop " Drama of all time hands down.
1:17 - Stinkum was obsessed with Bird…lol He was sort of Bird’s boy. Maybe why Omar killed Stinkum - as a form of getting back at Bird for his part in killing Brandon.
Omar's tally: Stinkum killed Bird life sentence (witness) Stringer killed Savino killed When you think about it, this dude just about singlehandedly took down the Barksdale organization, just before Major Crime got to Stringer. He's basically a force of nature in the show.
The first time I watched the show I didn’t care about wee bey but the second go around I thought he was hilarious. His reaction to Omar’s infamous whistle is classic.
