The opposite of a legend is a nobody and that's where Ziggy was at but because of his stupidity he ended up being worse then a nobody and that is a clown. A clown that nobody respected but instead laughed at. Hell even the dumb drug dealers working for Ziggy didnt respect him cause they knew he wouldn't/couldn't do shit if the money was short.
jakep1979 100%. He didn’t want to be a ‘nobody’ so badly, but all his actions to get attention just made him a laughing stock. Poor dude. No one had a heart to heart chat with him about his core motivations. It’s sad to see all the intimate moments between Zig and his family, as you can see the love is there but neither of them really know how to talk about the root of the problem.
The fact that they purposely set him up to be humiliated because they knew he wouldn't turn them down emphasizes the point Ziggy makes later, about being tired of being the "punchline to every joke." He causes a lot of problems, but the people around him enable his stupid behavior.
Problem is he does stupid as hell shit to prove them wrong. Which does the opposite. If he manned up and took things seriously he would of got 10 times as much respect.
@@dixonhill1108 He’s definitely an idiot at his core, yeah. I think a lot of it is him pretending to be badass and trying to fit in when he just doesn’t belong in the world he’s trying to be in. He’s not cut out to be a criminal and he only realizes that when it’s too late. That’s how I took the character anyway.
@@PokemonTrainerChris303 I used to sell dope to feed my addiction. You dont really need to be tough to do it, no ones gonna fuck with you unless you give them a reason to, dope addicts dont wanna lose their connect. The worst you can do is to give someone cash or product ahead of time because most of the time that mf ain't coming back. Other than that, someone who is dope sick ain't gonna fight you, when you're sick like that you're weaker than a sponge. And if you get a rep for holding up a drug dealer armed, no ones gonna sell to you any more.
This is why guns are kinda a thing. Well literally any weapon ever made. He'll even a rock took down goliath when beamed at his skull. Weapons, they even the playing field by alot.
@FuckYouAllToPieces UFC fighters do know how to kill people, but the reality is no one boxes. Most fights are on the ground and look like cats going at it, and they usually last only a minute. If you really think you can just stand and box someone in real life then you are in for a rude awakening when they dump you on the ground!
Yeah, but I mean... the dude's just eatin his sandwich and all of a sudden Ziggy just up and attacks him. I'm not saying telling people they can't let him down is cool, but I feel putting Ziggy in time out for that is justifiable. I feel bad for Ziggy, but notice how in this scene, he yells "You gave me bad advice!" pinning all the blame on the people who encouraged him to do it, rather than owning his mistakes and learning from them? That right there is a big source of his pain and suffering and is completely within his power to change. As somebody who has suffered immensely for negative behaviours in the past, I can definitely say people like Ziggy have hope to heal and grow, but they need to MAKE THAT CHOICE. Usually, suffering is the motivator that compels people to do so. But it's a fork in the road: either the suffering can be catalyst which changes you for the negative or positive, but it's up to YOU to choose.
It's all fun and games until you remember what happens to Ziggy in the end. Scenes like this were one of the reasons why Ziggy ended up the way he did too.
Ziggy's story(while I can't say for sure that it was the primary intention) feels like a general story behind the psychology of a mass shooter, their odd behavior combined with being treated horribly by everyone around them makes them lash out violently
"Banana too" guy needs an Oscar category for pulling off the goofiest dialogue. Like those kids how had a whole conversation about the great chicken mcnugget just so D'Angelo could be the cynic telling them how the world really works.
Seen people like ziggy character in real life. They eventually get sick of being pushed around and turn into dangerous indivituals. Believe me you wouldnt want them to flip, all the anger is brewing.
I loved the second season upon a second viewing. It's not the best season, but it is fantastic. Frank Sobotka is one of the best characters on the show.
Wow look at Ziggy roast those guys on the ground from up there like a savage. "You gave me bad advice!" oh snap I wouldn't wanna be those guys on the ground, that's for sure
Much respect to Maui for not dog walking Ziggy 😂😂 he knew Ziggy had no chance instead of beating the shit out of him or possibly accidentally killing him😂 he treated him how u would do your little brother.💯😂💀
@@acdclife94 nah probably not. Even Frank knew what his son was, so he probably would’ve left him up there for a bit to think about what he did then got him down and said something like “bet you won’t try that shit again”. Ziggy fucked around and found out.
Jazzi Hill I didn't feel bad for him. All he had to do was recognize that he was just a scrawny kid who had no business trying to act like a hard ass. And he also should have stopped thinking that stupid shit like wearing an expensive jacket, burning $100 bills etc., would earn him respect. All he had to do was just be a normal person, and he would fit in, people wouldn't give him any shit if he wasn't always making an ass of himself
+Jazzi Hill He was a punk. He ended up in prison where he would have ended up a punk, killing himself after a year of so because he would be a jailhouse punk. Had he not tried to be a tough guy his life would have been better.
M. Royer Maui is actually not a bad guy. He seems to be just true to himself and true to his profession. He wasn't shown to be crooked or trying to be a tough guy. Just a hard working man not to be fucked with. Clever as hell for that "love child" prank tho😆.
I loved the docks scenes. Working dudes of all colors united by the common goal of wanting to feed their families or in Zig's case take his duck out drinking. The death of the unions is the death of dignity for the worker.
What ignorant horseshit. The Union bosses raided the funds and jacked up wages beyond competitive levels for decades. Ever wonder why manufacturing went overseas? Imbecile.
@@beatonthedonis Correct. In present-day Britain, for example, dock workers still move shipping containers via rolling logs and teams of harnessed woolly mammoths. In America, however, we've developed a system of ramps and pulleys that reduces the number of mammoth teams required while boosting efficiency, thereby freeing up the forklift for practical jokes.
season 2 is the most critical seasons because it told the story about the docks. What comes through those docks affects everything in baltimore from the inner city to the mayor's office.
To Maui, this is like when you play fight with your younger cousins and you let them hit you with full force to see how hard they can hit. He even smirks when he is on the way down
0:20 - "Take him, Zig.... now's the time." Great delivery there, so serious like he believes in Ziggy but really he wants to see him fail. ... That's what THAT sounds like when people do it in real life.
I've always thought that people hate characters like Ziggy and AJ instead of appreciating them as the broken messes that they are because of Schadenfreude and because of how shitty shows like Suits condition viewers perceptions of how characters should be written. It's easier to laugh at the misery of those two characters than to be honest with oneself about how similar they can be to them, you don't want to acknowledge that you were once treated like that or that you yourself pick on people like them and face the guilt. Also thanks to power fantasy shows like Suits, people think that all "good" characters are supposed to be cool spectacles of masculinity and even villains get that treatment. People who are awkward and don't fit in are meant to be bullied till they fit in.
@@thelastjerkbender2505 I disagree. People mostly felt sorry for Dukie or Wallace. They were also people who were suffering, however, there was less Schadenfreude since those two didn't really do anything to deserve it. The bad stuff happening to Ziggy was mostly his own fault.
Just finished the series tonight. This scene stands alone as the single funniest scene in the entire series, and there was a lot of funny scenes. Ziggy is a riot.
This moment made S2 worth it People are too critical...I loved S2. It took me about 2 weeks to finish it, while it took me over a month to finish S1. I'm still not done with S3 yet...and I've been watching for about 3 months
This scene is funny and all, but if Ziggy hadn’t gotten punked like this then He probably wouldn’t have killed Glykas and set off the chain of events that got his dad killed and destroyed the union
What do you expect from a kid that's too stupid to just drop 10 feet down to the roof of the lift, but ambitious enough to try to sling? He was going to fuck up one way or another.
Exactly, Season 2 was the worst IMO. I was going to stop at the first 2 episodes. It was like as if I was watching a different show about ports and stuff liked that. I liked moments with gangsters like Stringer and Avon that made me watch the show. I really hated these stevedores, especially ziggy.
The Vickster Maybe but I just don't think any amount of time would have helped out the newspaper storyline. The streets were always the highlight of this season but there are other reasons S5 flopped compared to it's other seasons. Mcnutty and lester just had me annoyed by the end of the season. The way they caught marlo was lame. Kima was lame. Bunk was lame. Besides the street storyline everything in S5 failed hard. I think it's still a good season of TV but the bar was set from the previous seasons and S5 underachieved.
MetalxSoldier So glad i never watched the 5th season. The 4th was really cool with the school kids. I watched 1 or 2 episodes of the 5th i was like "journalists? what is this shut?" and never returned.
Ziggy's such a tragic character. Don't like him and his foolish antics and loud mouth but you still feel for him. Think a lot of us can relate to him on a certain level. Born into a life that he doesn't fit, the life he chooses to go into is a bad match as well. Got tired of being the punchline to every joke. Even God was laughing when he dealt him his cards. Poor kid.
That's cool because Ed Burns was my S.A.T. prep teacher in freshman year at Baltimore City College. He told us about The Corner and the tv series based off of it called The Wire that airs on HBO. This was back in 2000. Right after highschool I went into the Marines. I should have got his autograph!
