I love when Maui sings it at the end and Nick despite trying his hardest pisses himself at the expense of his cousin. Just like any other guy in the world!
What I find real interesting about this scene is: Maui came up with this prank, himself. He was resourceful enough to find a legal template for child support, and smart enough to put his telephone number on the paper. I see Maul as a big brute, heavy on muscles, light on brains. But this scene shows he has intelligence too. The funniest part- to me- is when all the guys at the table sing aloud in unison once the joke has been revealed. Awesome, just awesome!!
This season really is amazing. After going through the whole season looking at the instances as comedy, then seeing the demise of Ziggy in the end, it turns into tragedy. This season is brilliant
Don't worry, Ziggy's on a redemption quest, embarking on one of the galaxy's most dangerous planet to save his family, all while mastering something akin to the Force from Star Wars
What an amazing show. This is my favorite scene of my favorite season. It captures the life of the stevedores and romantises it, makes you feel for all these characters. How tragic the ending of the season was.
Must have watched the whole show about 6 times and I swear it gets better every time I watch it. This scene is quality, was sad how things ended for zig and Nicky, both quality characters.
@@JimmySteller I don't know if Maui was a bully, Ziggy was shown to start repeatedly playing tricks on him. Maui just kept turning the tables on Ziggy.
ziggy constanly put dick pics on this guys computer and jeopardized everyones union jobs by being a theif not to mention he was an all around jerkoff. this was just the guys giving him a taste of his own medicine. ziggys whole character ark was if he could stop being a whiney baby hed have life by the balls, but he couldnt so his life was much harder than it needed to be
This is such an awesome scene, so real. I love how "Love Child" by The Supremes is playing throughout, but you do not realize it until the joke is revealed. The song, of course, was the important part of the joke with Ziggy being falsely accused of having a love child.
@@projectdan3369 a shyster is someone playing a joke on someome... and the letter was said to be from a law firm, and a name of a firm is usually names of the partners.... like in fresh prince uncle.phil works for "firth, wynn, amd meyer".... so shyster shyster shyster is just the name of the fake law firm from the joke.... u get it now?
Lol didn't even know they revealed the joke, I had to look this scene up because I just played the song whilst cooking, and re-hearing it now was not only surprising, but hilarious when I figured out why it's played on repeat.
The writing is so clever that you can compare it with the works of Dostoevsky and Dickens. The characters are more than real, you understand tham better than you understand your family and friends. The whole plot is written with extra care, every single thread matters.
This reminds me of when Michael and Namond were figuring out how Nay got ripped off. In fact, Nick and Ziggy have similiar traits with Mike and Nay; respectively. Nick/Mike seem like they're more street wise, capable of deducing scenarios, and kept their cool under pressure. Zig and Nay are usually shown as flashy with money, inept with their trade, and prone to make rash decisions.
never noticed this. Weebay and Frank were both much harder than their respective sons and tried to protect them from the dangers of their respective professions... Ironically Weebay was more successful despite being locked up
Watched this show three times before I realized that Prissy Carlow is the girl that Nick gets drunk with (and wakes up with) after Ziggy is arrested. That’s attention to detail!
Slaver if you thought it was boring your favorite shows/movies are most likely Walking Dead, SoA, Fast and Furious and Transformers. You can't really judge a show by skimmimg through scenes and you have no idea whats going on. Maybe you thought it was too talky and not enough explosions and high speed shoot outs.
Slaver dude those are my favorite shows plus OZ. The Sobotka family were a great story about the decay of working class families. Stringer going behind Avons back, killing Dangelo and hooking up with Prop Joe. Sergei and Mouzone were bas ass character. The Greeks Spiros especially were great character's. McNulty, Bubbles and Omar have great character development in this season. Ziggy was funny imo his ending was sad though. And the whole detail was because Valchek was pissed Frank bought a church an expensive window. It was good season you should go watch it again you little fucking twerp.
I think Season 2 is the saddest of the whole show. If just because it started with what seemed like honest hardworking men in the docks of Baltimore and ended with the corruption and crime some members were responsible for fucking over almost everybody.
Dave simon is very left wing, neo liberalism has killed manufactoring and the wages of working people have gone down while the rich have got richer, you know in the 50's when only men needed to work taxes for the rich were 90% then.
One of the most dangerous times in a young man’s life is his search for identity. We all struggle with failure and rejection, but dudes coming up short of mastering a poorly-fitting arena will sometimes make desperate leaps to find it in others. Addiction, bad relationships, crime, associating with scumbags, doomed marriages, religions, even network-marketing - all the result of seeking something that will make you hope will make you complete and square the tables with those around you. I lost a lot of friends during this phase, and almost lost myself too. I feel ziggys struggle.
Ziggy saying "the packages were my thing" when he used to get laughed off the corner, ripped off and got his ass beat by Cheese, he'd be dead without Nick. The packages were not his thing 🤣
The right move would have been for Ziggy to go up to the table, call Maui a mother f’er and then shake his hand say you got me, buy the table a round and make a toast saying the round is cheaper than child support and laugh it off.
It's no wonder this pissed Zig off so much. "Love Child"? Frank isn't his real father, as we learn the last time we see him before he disappears into the system, and that probably played a huge part in Frank neglecting him.
you can still go outside and have the cheeky one, for me it triggers my asthma instantly and gives me a mild headache but i can see the allure of smoking where your drinking =)
funny scene but kind of sad to watch as well after seeing watch hapens later on in the series when this scene and others like this push ziggy to doing what he did
I think nick and Maui characters are a great representation of the type of guys u would expect to find in a industry like that ... thats what makes this programme so great the characters are amazing . From the steets to the docks, anyone that is weak gets chewed up . Ziggy does not belong in the docks ; he should have went to college and got a job that suits him.
If zig would have sat back and thought for a moment he would have realized that he had back and he didn't have to try to be the man and just notice that he was without even working hard
My buddy had warned me about a super annoying character in season 2. I am glad to say Ziggy didn't annoy me that much, since he got made a fool of so frequently and beat up lmao
Not weak at all, people do not like it because of the main focus of this season. They go from the climax of the season 1 to the syndicate of stevedores in that awful port, which might be boring as hell for many. I actually love this season and is probably the best after the season 3.
