I saw somebody with this keyboard in a coffee shop today. It's interesting enough that I am considering it. I am in the middle of taking a 4x4 macropad (keybow2040) and building it into the back of an iPhone case, so that you type with fingers wrapped around it with thumbs on glass. I gave it a computer-braille layout, so that I can completely emulate a US qwerty keyboard. I have a last-inch problem that is driving me nuts... it is ONLY iOS that has terrible navigation between windows and applications. I can't figure out what the keycodes for things like Fn+H are... as Fn isn't a normal key with a scancode. It's just that when Fn is down, my circuit python code needs to emit some special bytes. And I can't figure out what they need to be. Apparently it follows whatever Apple Magic keyboard does. This is all weird, as you would think that using an iPhone with a usbc keyboard would not be THAT strange. I even discovered that you need a special OTG cable as well. I am definitely going down an unusual mechanical keyboard path. I can't believe that with so many people making keyboards that after a month, I still haven't managed to get enough info about keycodes that iOS recognizes. I am definitely thinking of taking a bit of a detour and maybe building one of these. They look really cool.

For gaming you can just go 1 row down and 1 column to the right, so instead of 'wasd' you use 'dxcv' as movement keys, this should open up enough keys very close to your left hand to play most games. If you play MMO's, you can open up another key, because usually you don't need a backwards key as it's the slowest way to go backwards, so you go with 'xcv' for movement keys and of course you'll use shift and ctrl as modfier keys. If you still feel like you need more keys for MMO's, consider buying something like the newest Razer Naga just for those games. Just my 2 cents as someone who's venturing into split kb's and also play a variety of video games.
@EIGAtech
@EIGAtech Год назад
I did try out DXCV actually but very briefly. My main issue with "non-standard" setups is having to go through the trouble of rebinding keys for each new game, not to mention getting used to it in the first place.
@maddyleaf
@maddyleaf Год назад
@@EIGAtech Yea I can understand that, I've just always had to change some key bindings and settings in every game I play anyway, so the extra changes don't really bother me. And if you're not bothered by not having a row above, no need to change anything.

curious to know what's the reason you don't type with your pinky on this keyboard. column staggers, from what i gather, are made with finger lengths in mind. unlike row stagger keebs, this feels like a great layout to type with all 10 fingers.
@EIGAtech
@EIGAtech Год назад
I do sometimes but when I want to type fast it's just muscle memory taking over. I also find using my pinky for anything other than modifiers to be somewhat uncomfortable. Hey! I have two sets, and one is blank, with no legends.

This is ortholinear layout not stagerred layout.

an ortholinear keyboard has its keys aligned in a perfect grid. so the corne is in fact a columnar staggered keyboard.

Impressive looks! May I ask which type of resin from JLCPCB was chosen for the case?
@EIGAtech

Thank you! It’s not a resin print but rather an SLS print (nylon).

I've been using a Keyboardio Atreus for the past year and and I love it, I am already used to the semi-split orthogonal layout. But I am missing both the wireless and the full-split features This iteration you have created seems the perfect fit for what I am looking for. I also do coding and gaming. I would love to build one for myself. Would you mind guiding me please? I sent discord friend request.

@@EIGAtech what about the keyboard weight? I heard that if the keyboard is lighter it maybe could move in forward direction when typing...

It annoys me that I can’t just buy keyboards like this as standard.

That would be great and I'm sure there's enough demand for something like a split ergo keyboard at a reasonable price.
