I almost did, but thankfully I was on my phone and didn't reach the space bar faster than she got on stage, because usually, I skip scenes that seem pointless to the story
Yes, they absolutely blew me away with the postures and facial expressions of everybody. I usually play for the game, not so much the story. This time I am 100% immersed and I think that's why. It really sucked me in. Skyrim was my favorite before this, but Skyrim is so rigid in that aspect now that I have a comparison. I actually care and feel emotion in this game. Have to pause and think through decisions for a while sometimes even, because I care, not because I'm worried about the surface level consequences.
Except that she doesn't really tune it, for that, she'd need to hear the strings _before_ tightening or loosening them 😜 (it's almost certainly what they were going for, but that's a _liiiittle_ bit of a... major oversight 🤣)
I LOVE that the King of Beggars, one of the 4 kingpins of the Novigrad underworld, is taking a walk down the street, hears the melody, and turns around to listen to the song, showing that even a person who moves in that "dark and realistic world", can be attracted by a beautiful song.
Not him. It's the frigging bastard who try to murder her after. The zealot of the eternal flame. A bastard who love to torture those who speak profanities. And she's singing a love story between a mutant and a witch. This bastard burned her throat with acid and would have killed her and ripper her eyes and heart off if priscilla wasn't lucky. So in evry playtrought i kill the bast1rd the long way by burning him to death.
@@Jhnzss Apparently - Cyberpunk has already been tested by the censors and given an "18" ... apparently, you get to choose your own genitals at the beginning of the game!
I wouldn't go that far, but personally, i can place it in my top 5 favorite games... i can't tell the order but for me these are the 5: Metal Gear Solid Final Fantasy VII The Witcher 3 Diablo II Final Fantasy XIV This so difficult... since i didnt place some from Final Fantasy series, from Metal Gear, GTA, Mafia II, Parasite eve...
To be fine, when I played Wild Hunt the first time ever about a month ago, I expected this being another happy tavern song you hear bunch of times in this game already. This totally came out of the blue.
This is the song that made me decide that Yennefer of Vengerberg was the one for Geralt. Every time I do another playthrough and decide to be with Triss, I change my mind as soon as I hear "To dream of raven locks entwisted, stormy; Of violet eyes, glistening as you weep", that does it for me. Every. Single. Time.
It's really open to interpretation. When I listened to this for the first time, the line that really sticks out to me is "the wish I whispered when it all began, did it forge a love you may have never found". The camera cuts to Geralt, guiltily looking down. The song has really somber chord changes too. It makes sense that the first thing Yen does in skellige is break the wish. I chose Yen in the end because I would feel so guilty if Geralt, the one who made the wish, ultimately left Yen. In my story Geralt couldn't tell Yen the truth - that the wish was all that kept his infatuated love going. He replaces the wish with a lie.
@@person906 The Wish wasnt about them loving each other, it was about binding their fates together, and as you probably know, Djinns are malicious creatures and will not grant your wishes in a good way, so none of that ''The wish bound them together by love and they loved each other forever and lalalala'' that kind of good fairy tale kind of wish doesnt exist on the witcher universe, the Djinn always try to grant the wish in a perverse way, in the case of this wish, the djinn bound his fate to yens, so when yen died, he would die as well, in the end of the books geralt is stabbed and yen gives up her life to protect him. The love has nothing to do with the Wish, geralt was madly in love even before the wish and yen literally gave her life for geralt at the end of the books, so it's pretty obvious that she loved him, and considering the ''afterlife'' dialogue that they had just reinforces that their love was legitimate, since the last wish geralt made self-fulfiled when he and yen died together and when they spoke in the ''afterlife'' they werent under any bound of magic and still felt just the same and wanted to live together with each other forever.

Yeah that stupid inkeeper from White Orchard ruined everything. Besides the song is about Geralt's Love story and those ungrateful audience don't have any idea about it
Many people will probably jump to the Witcher games after watching the Netflix series, I welcome you with this song and its deep meaning, enjoy the games, absolute masterpieces.
I started singing the song when Geralt met Yen in the manse. Then i realized the import of the third wish he had. The wish he whispered, when it all began.
@@tobiasthesecond5605 Witcher 2 for me fam. Love how the game divides into two completely different directions after your choice at the end of the first chapter.
coming from the swamps, crones and monsters of velen. this was the first time i felt geralt can finally relax... even for a moment. One of the greatest moments in gaming.
Just found out Emma Hiddleston, the actress who voiced Priscilla, is Tom Hiddleston's sister! She has such an incredible voice, sounds like an angel in this song
@Naomi Edouard They explain it if you read the books. One of the myths all the people in the books believe about witchers is that the mutations make them emotionless, and he goes along with it, usually sarcastically and spitefully, but he definitely feels emotions. He pretends as a sort of emotional defense mechanism.
@Naomi Edouard Actually he doesn't pretend. Witchers still have emotions just like normal humans, but because of the mutations, they have trouble expressing them. Basically Witchers have the same facial expression whether they are happy, sad, angry, scared etc. But deep inside, they feel emotions just like us.
@@mynamekanye240 that's not true at all. There's a myriad of moments when Geralt is mentioned to be making a serious face, or an angry face, smiling, etc. He doesn't always have the same facial expressions. He does have issues expressing his love or trying to respect a woman, specially Yennefer, but that's because how men normally are in that world. Besides, Witchers are generally hated and despised, which makes things worse for him
@@drogadepc I didn't mean that he has one facial expression for any emotion literally. That was metaphorically speaking because it's hard for him to express his emotions.
This game won Game of the Decade 2010-2020, and arguably the most important decade of gaming when it comes to the evolution of gaming. Like no other, this game had a soul. No other game, movie, or show was able to portray such an immersive feeling like this scene. A true moment of peace within their cruel and unforgiving world that we all felt. The game is so masterfully well-crafted that I wouldn’t be surprised if the next two Game of the Decade can’t even be compared to The Witcher 3.
@@nickboi7270 it depends witcher story is more detailed and world too because it is based on book and has 3 game parts As a game perspective I like rdr2 But for the detailed in story and protagonist wise I liked witcher 3 more
I mostly agree with you here. I'd only add that there were a few games from the early two thousands that, while not as sophisticated or as big as the Witcher 3 still pulled me in to a similar extent. The old Prince of Persia trilogy as the foremost example. I think those three games had a level of soul comparable to the Witcher 3, as well as a deep lore and well-crafted wold that we never got to see enough of due to Ubisoft annoyingly abandoning the series in favour of Assasin's Creed before they could make at least one large free-roaming iteration of it. I was a grumpy teenger back then and the Prince of Persia series offered me escape and inspiration like nothing else could except for very well written books like Lord of the Rings- and, a bit later on, the Witcher books. I'd put the Witcher 3 in that category, too, perhaps Witcher 1 as well, but they are not quite so singular to my mind if we consider more than just the last decade. Within the last decade, though, yes, the Witcher 3 is pretty singular. Perhaps Assasins Creed Origins is about equal to it. I think the Elder Scrolls universe has the potential to be as deep, also, but Bethesda continually fail to create games as soulful as CD Projekt Red and Ubisoft.
@@AzariahYalanBenjamin It was a great pleasure to find a fellow PoP fan here. Those four installments really defined my teenage gaming years. Diving into those characters really made me forget myself. I vividly remember how Kaileena death in Two thrones and Farah's death in Sands of Time made me disgruntled, while just the presence of Dahaka in Warrior Within was enough to raise the heartbeats. But alas! How they butchered my boy for Assassin's creed.
LYRICS These scars long have yearned for your tender caress. To bind our fortune, damn what the stars own. Rend my heart open, then your love profess. A winding weaving fate to which we both atone. You flee my dream come the morning Your scent berries tart, lilac sweet To dream of raven locks entwisted, stormy Of violet eyes, glistening as you weep The wolf I will follow into the storm To find your heart, its passion displaced By ire ever growing hardenin into stone Amidst the cold to hold you in a heated embrace. You flee my dream come the morning Your scent berries tart lilac sweet To dream of raven locks entwisted, stormy Of violet eyes glistening as you weep I know not if fate would have as live as one Or if by loves blind chance we have been bound The wish i whispered, when it all began Did it forge a love you might never have found You flee my dream come the morning Your scent berries tart, lilac sweet To dream of raven locks entwisted stormy Of violet eyes glisting as you weep.
Glad I’ve finally beka a man. I love this game. And it’s it’s amazing Team. I love cd project red in general. Once I’ve heard about them selling Witcher 2 with all dlc for a reasonable price, I knew, they are the future for us gamers
Today, 8 hrs ago I lost my grandmother, a survivor of ww2 in Philippines/Fillipines, She didn't like much music, despite her listening to it, but she did like this song, or atleast liked watching me watch and listen to it. She died on her own, I wasn't able to be with her, however I know she is reunited with her husband my grandfather, and I hope they are at peace and eternal rest now.
When Pricilla flicked the cords I was interested but when that angelic voice came out I simply sunk back in my chair. At that moment I felt like I was sitting at the bar in Novigrad in between Zoltan and Gerald just enjoying a warm night show. I feel bad for people who say video games aren't art. I actually feel like I'm inside this fantasy world with the characters.
Cd projekt red is one of the very few developers who actually cares about what they do nowadays….not can be said about the same for the other developers
@@midnightwerewolf5567 Dude are you a fanboy and forgot cyberpunk? They literally lied about the state of the game like every other scumbag company before the release.
@@mcmarkmarkson7115 Oh, come off it both of you. This broken record whining over a pretty good game is growing stale. Cyberpunk was a major success, which probably grinds your balls even more. Did the marketing department lie? Of course, those who work in marketing are generally douchebags, and CD Red was deservingly criticized for it. That doesn't mean the developers didn't put their hearts into their game, which was what the commenter meant.
Isn't that awesome? She has such a beautiful voice and is immensely talented. She should expand her horizons a little more to show her talent, but it's up to her. Regardless, she is phenomenal in the game.
What if she decides to play Priscilla and sing this song in the Netflix series when it gets to this point in the story... I'd cry tears of joy if that happened
@@NiohArcadia CDPR created Priscilla for Witcher 3. She is possibly Essi Daven from the books, who is a friend and professional rival of Dandelion. If she were to appear in the series, it would need to be as Essi.
He was going to see Djikstra right? I don’t know about you but the whole thing played out perfectly in my game because right after this I went to the baths and he was there.
I love how you can hear the beginning of this song in “Fields of Ard Skellig” it’s such a nice dose of nostalgia for our time in Novigrad, as well as a reminder that we’ve come a long way.
It's not just this scene though ... just look at the amazing DLC, arguably better stories than the main game with terrific new music, creatures, bosses, characters, actors, situations ... And the direction of EVERY cutscene is movie quality (a very good movie at that) - even for the most mundane scene. The writing is fantastic - I don't think this level is repeatable - even if you gave a studio 2 billion dollars to "make the best ever RPG" ... it would be technically perfect, but it wouldn't have anywhere close to the heart of this game. It wouldn't even come close to Witcher 3's better side-missions. The music. There you go, unrepeatable. There is so much of Poland/Eastern Europe in the soundtrack, played on real folk instruments. You would have thought I would have tired of "yede-le-le-le-lel-le le-lelelelele" by now! ... but no :) Brilliant! You would have thought I would be tired of the Gwent/tavern music? No way. Gaunter O'Dimm's theme and Lullaby of Woe are perfect. Unrepeatably perfect. Any 2 billion dollar RPG that just chucks in some folk instruments will rightly be accused of "copying Witcher 3" .. which is unrepeatable. This game is brilliant - it makes you feel like a hero in a genuine way. There's a Geralt inside all of us, it seems. Unrepeatable.
@@jazzx251 totally agree Personally I know when a game is a masterpiece when I can replay it from time to time and not get bored. and then when I’m reminded of all those amazing little details and events you forget it makes me realise just how damn good the game is.
This has to be one of the best character introductions in a game ever. You spent hours wondering Novigrad, doing odd jobs, finally trying to find Dandelion, then asked to find this new bard, which feels like a fetch quest, but after one song you feel an instant emotional connection to her. Which makes what happens to her later in the story even more gut wrenching. Other games have npcs, in Witcher 3 you have friends.
Nazareadain It's probably there to remind non-bookfags that "Yen is still out there so don't just fall right for Triss so soon". It also makes more sense for Priscilla to meet and work with you since she's already familiar with you through Dandelion.
Bo Tan as an independent product it seems a little too heavy for a reminder as the player has yet to make any real connection with yen yet. Not that I don't like the bombast.
Exactly, no connection, the song is to help build the connection. It serves as a placeholder for the "Geralt+Yen" love theme for future interactions. In my opinion, so far (got Dandelion, just went to Skellige) the game is pushing the "canon" romance for Yen and constantly tells you that Triss is over with 6 months ago. This song would be one of those "push". I do think it's more for the latter reason, though: to give an impression of Dandelion being a blabbermouth and explains why Priscilla would open up to you.
Nazareadain Because developers know and respect what Sapkowski wrote. Geralt needs and loves only Yennefer and Ciri. Triss choice is just a choice to make the kids who didnt read the books happy. Nothing more. If Sapkowski wrote this scenario in his book Triss could have only the one role - a friend. And not the best friend.
+brazwen that's because game or movie music are meant to make the game or movie more immersive and is not held in that cycle of "ok, this is hot, this is selling, you make this or you're out. mainstream music also builds on average people's low expectations towards music. "make it sound not completely unbearable, but even if it does, we'll tweak it some in the studio. who cares anyway? is it another love song that sounds like shit or is it another love song that sounds like shit? it'll sell alright" (this priscilla song proves there are different levels to love songs though) most mainstream artists don't even care what their music sounds like. fuck mainstream music.
+overdose that is SO well said. modern music industry should be illegal ffs, but even worse is the mainstream audience. sheep who dont respect music for shit just listen to some "catchy" song in the radio that plays 200 times a day. and the money keeps on coming...
MrWhite yeah, and these idiots don't even listen to music for music. they turn on the 120 minutes long love song remix by Dj Asscrack and vibe out in the club. I'm not knocking that, right? that's cool. or would be cool, if it wasn't practically everywhere. my electric toothbrush started singing "You turn me on", know what I mean? some of us who listen to the type of music you can actually listen to hear that same brainwashed bullshit everywhere. I wouldn't care if they didn't force the musical taste of others into our ears, but they do. all about the money. if "everyone" felt like tucking their penises between their legs and jumping around like a frog, media would build on that and in a year, those who kept their shit together would be "weird". and now I've the right to be a hater :)
+overdose I agree you know whats the crazier part is game companies go as far as highering whole orchestras that make master pieces example the Witcher games, Halo the list can go on.
@@bergonath8851 They'll make it the very opposite of edgy. They have race-changed multiple characters, despite supposedly staying true to the books, just to be not edgy.

29 Dec 2021, Installed Witcher 3 : The Wild Hunt for the first time and been playing for the last 3-4 days (I've seen both Netflix seasons and knew more or less what is it about (books by Polish author). I can't believe that I am just now playing this game (after it has been out for like what 6-7 years)? I am gasping how the story is well done, completed everything in White Orchard, I was completely speechless by the quest in Vizima when I met the emperor (voiced by Charles Dance, one of the most iconic actors and the voice I would remember anywhere), then Velen was so harsh and frightening ( I've had a hard time just to go to the The Orphans of Crookback Bog), then the Bloody Barron storyline was fabulous, and now deep in Novigrad, already questing here for the entire day and I just lost my shit when I heard this song. Now it's like I don't want to continue because I know this masterpiece will end at certain time and I won't be able to have this feeling of being amazed by the unknown and unexpected beauty.
It keeps getting better and better and better. Then when you think it can’t get any better, it gets even better!!! When you eventually get to Toussaint in the blood and wine expansion you will feel like you’ve died and gone to Witcher heaven!
First seconds before the start of the song: "Damn will I really have to watch an entire song play?" 5 seconds after it start: *not saying anything of amazement*

Geralt´s face and eyes when he suddenly realizes the song is about his love for Yen... I hadn´t been in trance with a game´s OST since Metal Gear Solid.
Especially in the part about the wish he whispered... If you haven't read The Last Wish, I def recommend it, I will not spoil anything. This song in particular will make a lot more sense ;)
Naveena Vice This game got me interested in the novels, as probably happened with thousands, and The Last Wish is the first one I picked up. And you are right, the song acquires a whole new meaning

RaithSienar I liked that bit too. But then I got outside and realized the path where he walked from is blocked by a wall and the window is like a meter off the ground. Immersion ruined, 0/10, preorder cancelled, stern letter written.
Dexter Chen Makes an interesting idea for a little mod to make that an actual pathway and adjust the window positioning. "Immersive Inn Pathway" mod lol.
The song is incredible, but I was kind of 100% on-board with one of Geralt's dialogue choices immediately after - can you imagine how fucking painful and disturbing it would be to walk into a bar and listen to a complete stranger singing about the intricacies of the constatly-difficult, at times painful romantic relationship that has basically defined your life? To hear one of your own deepest insecurities *sang* at you in front of a crowd, knowing this isn't the first crowd to hear it? I can imagine few things more personally violating. I was honestly pretty furious at Dandelion after this.
The rage i felt when Priscilla was attacked and how Dandelion asked Geralt to avenge her...damn i was so pissed i was sprinting the whole time from that quest.

this still holds as one of if not the most memorable moments in gaming history, first day i heard this i was left speechless ... all these years later speechless. a true masterpiece in every aspect
The song is so good but what really made this moment so good was the way they panned the room showing everyones reactions, even showing the King of Beggars walk by, stop and back up at the window. Just stuff you never see in a video game.
Man, you know the song's good when grown men start to cry , couples make love, a hardened criminal gives notice to it , a badass dwarf mellows out and when a near "emotionless" Witcher starts to feel and relate to it.
Why? Can you explain what part of "creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts, expressing the author's imaginative or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power" (wikipedia) does not apply to videogames?
Actually I would say the Mass Effect series was better, especially 3 as controversial as that is. No other game has made me cry so many times (Mordin's death, liara's "I did just write your name in the stars", the PTSD commando, even the cheating wife and so many more and thats not even mentioning how you can create a relationship in the first game and watch it develop through the series, how liara is reluctant in 2 until you kiss her) However the witcher 3 comes second. Skyrim has some great music and the first time I played it I couldn't put it down but it doesn't have the depth of story that the other 2 have. The main thing skyrim has is the dovahkiin song which is amazingly stirring but that's about all. That said I don't think WItcher 3 actually lives up to its own cinematic, the "a night to remember" cinematic had more depth than the actual game does
Played this game in 2015 and am playing it again as I write this. Hearing this song again after 7 years is like rediscovering your first love 💕…this is one of the greatest moments in video games (or of fiction in general)….where does one begin?…the perfect melody, the telling of Geralt’s story in a ballad…the fact that even the king of beggars stops to listen…zoltan musing…geralt shifting intently and then at the end the skeptic himself standing up to applaud…wow…just wow….the wolven storm indeed 👏
Just started playing Witcher a few days ago (after years of my brother pestering me to play it). I must say, it’s a masterpiece. This song brought a tear to my eye.
If you like this song, i highly (!) recommend you to listen to the songs by John Dowland. This song is actually inspired by the renaissance lute songs, which John Dowland is most famous for. I recommend for example Flow my Tears, Come heavy Sleep, Can She Excuse My Wrongs or Come Away, Come Sweet love by him! Wonderful music, give it a try
He endures pretty harsh torture for much longer than most could to protect Geralt in the novels too. Dandelion is a fun juxtaposition of whimsy and loyalty
In The Last Wish he goes to the mat for Geralt when they get ambushed by elves and are almost killed. Dandelion would have rather died with Geralt than go on living without his friend.
I remember my first playthrough when I saw this scene. Came outta absolutely nowhere. After the song I had to put the controller down, and just stare at the wall a bit. Man, what a game.
