True. Just like now Bob Barker is reunited with all of his colleagues. Along with his two sidekicks johnny olson and Rod Roddy. actually, every last one of them is reunited with their bosses Mark Goodson, and Bill Todman.
@@tvtimetravel i’m glad someone was thinking what I was thinking. every last one of them is all gone to Gameshow heaven. But we do have one survivor who I don’t think worked for Goodson toddman production. That is Johnny Gilbert.
It seems like these great people have wonderful chemistry. Here they are. Peter Tamarkin and Rod Roddy, Bob Barker and johnny olson, Drew Carey in Richfield's, Alex Trebek and Johnny Gilbert, pat Sajack and Charlie O'Donnell, and of course Richard Dawson and gene wood. May he rest in peace.
I loved whenever Gene Wood made some on camera appearances on the game shows he announced. I thought his announcing on Tattletales and Family Feud were pretty good.
This was my very 1st favorite game show & the 1st one I ever watched too. They were the host & announcer of Family Feud when I was born. I was at least 3, maybe younger when I started watching Family Feud. They were a great team, Richard & Gene. Nobody could ever replace them for sure. Once you get used to someone being a host or announcer of a show, it is nearly impossible to ever truly adjust to anyone else after that. Your 1st experience of that show with the staff that they have at the time is irreplaceable & unforgettable. It's engraved in you permanently. This show has had some really great hosts: Richard Karne, John OHurley, Ray Combs Jr & many others; & now, Steve Harvey. All have done an amazing job as well. But, for me, Richard Dawson & Gene Wood will always be Family Feud. What they were to this show, is no different than my other favorite game shows: The Price Is Right (with Bob Barker & Rod Roddy), Wheel of Fortune (with Pat Sajak & Vanna White) & many others. All of which there is no replacement for those who were the original staff of those shows before or just after I was born. They all brought those shows to life & kept life in them forever. They are all TV Legends in our minds & hearts & all deserve a huge pat on the back, a big hug from us all & most of all, a huge thank you for doing such a great job & for all the great years of funloving entertainment, etc... As a huge fan of them all, I can honestly say that watching them around the time I started going to school, & the excitement of seeing them on TV & watching their shows is no different than being excited to see your Dad come home from work every day. They're a huge part of you & your life. Even though, you've never met any of them. :)
Gene's reaction to trying those cookies would be what I would do if I ever tried toasted ravioli, a St. Louis favorite. I have friends from St. Louis who live in Santa Clarita so it could hopefully work for me.
I know your comment is 11 years old, but on The Price is Right, Bob Barker too didn't have the same chemistry and rapport with Rod Roddy that he had with Johnny Olson, even though that's a bit of a different story because Johnny passing away is why Rod took his place as Price is Right Announcer and Richard was still alive when Ray replaced him as the host of Family Feud.
@kymarcin He also hosted a Canadian-based game show called Anything You Can Do from the first season (1971-1972), then was replaced by Don Harron (aka "Charlie Farquharson" from Hee Haw) for the next two seasons.
I liked this tribute to the Best Family Feud announcer.. It's always cool to see Gene Wood's face on television. I would have like to see some Feud 94 clips with Gene in this montage as well. Sorry Burton you're a good announcer, but you and the Fat one can't compare to Mr. Gene Wood.
Ironically today that role is filled by Burton Richardson, who was done the Davidson and Barker Price Is Right (and is Rich Fields' backup) and starts his 10th season on Family Feud in September.
It says on wikipedia that Gene died of cancer, but it doesn't say what kind of cancer it was. Does anyone know? I read on another video's comments section that Gene was a smoker.
