i just remembered that there is another show called “temptation island” that is basically the same as this show just without the deep fake element.

it’s gotten to the point where whenever I see anything about any netflix reality show related to dating I just know it’s going to be based around a shockingly bad idea, and I’m NEVER disappointed

I am so glad you watched this show! I saw this show last year and you’re right…it’s a hot mess! The thing that I found the most unethical is that not only did they employ deep fake but they also edited conversations to be misleading. They explained to the couples that what you see is not real, but they didn’t say that you also can’t believe what you hear. I hope all these couples get therapy afterwards!

I hate the idea of deep fakes being used like this and are now almost trying to be "normalized" by media. I know its just this show right now but I feel like in the coming years people will use it more and more unfortunately:/. And what's even worse is that its only going to get better with more development. Really hate that and hope that gets cut out real quick from tv. Also you watching this Spanish show just made me want to suggest ELITE. I've seen every season(and even the spin of CLASS) but it is such a MESS girl!!! Seasons 1-3 were the best but after that...oof...WOW. Anyway just wanted to recommend because its messy lol! + your makeup & hair look gorgeous btw!!

Fun fact about Raquel ( The show host) she is also famous in Spain because her husband died in very strange circumstances during their first year of marriage 💀💀 very interesting case to look into as well- there is a Netflix documentary about it

in spain we have a show called “la isla de las tentaciones” that’s the exact same minus the deep fakes - and somehow it’s even worse because they just display VERY explicit scenes to the persons partner and everyone else there (just to add to the humiliation) it’s crazyyyy

As a Spaniard I can confirm, our entertainment is extremely messy compared to americans'. "Law Of Desire" with Banderas, for instance, is basically more sexually explicit gay "Fatal Attraction", highly recommend. "Elite" is the most insane overwrought show I've ever seen. Some people will DEFINITELY find more value in keeping a partner captive to their "love" over money. A perfect victim is pricelesss

The concept of DeepFake Love is basically Temptation Island except that TI's clips are all real. On Temptation Island they go on "dates" with the singles to see if they're more compatible with someone other than their partner. And the first time they have to pick someone to date, they are forced to do it in front of their current partners. As you say: MESS. But seriously, if you like this concept for a show minus the deepfake aspect, I'd recommend Temptation Island (the rebooted version that aired on USA channel from 2019 to 2023). Especially recommend seasons 1 and 2. I also have a soft spot for season 4, but it's mostly because there's a surfer bro with long hair. The other main difference is that the Temptation Island host does mini "therapy" sessions with the couples when they have bonfire nights (that's when they show the clips of their partners in the other villa). imho he does a relatively good job of both comforting people who are upset while not taking people's bullshit. Especially in season 2+. Oh, and Netflix acquired Temptation Island after 2023 so buckle up for a lot more of this in the coming years, I guess.

first of all you look STUNNING! second, there is a similar show here in germany called temptation island, where couples are separated into two villas with singles from the opposite gender. there is no deepfake but they are filmed and regularly get shown clips of what their partners are up to and it’s INSANE and absolutely infuriating what especially the men do. i can really recommend this and last years show if you ever feel the need to want to be mad at men lol

This is exactly like "La Isla de las Tentaciones" (Island of Temptations, don't know if that's the correct translation sorry). It's basically the same: couples go to an island, there are two villas with people to "tempt" them and later they see images of their partners cheating on them. It's very popular here in Spain and I've never thought there's something equally as bad or worst. Side note: Kennie, you look so gorgeous and amazing

something i learned recently about reality tv shows is that sometimes the contestants aren’t fully told what they’ll be in for or are lied to about it, so it makes sense how they thought they would be in for one thing and have to endure another

When you mentioned how one of the awful things about the show is that people drunkenly talk about their partners behind their backs, I realized yet another reason why I could never be on a show like this. Using my roommate and my relationship, (because we're ace and are basically a couple without the sex or romance) we tell each other everything, and we can be (sometimes too) understanding when it comes to grievances. Like, the most I can imagine her actually saying is complaining about something I do or don't do around the house, how I clean or something like that, which I'd react like, oh ok, I'll talk to her about it and try to change it. If she actually said something that really shocked me or was genuinely mean or hurtful, I would jump straight to pathological liar and manipulator, because that is just so against who she is as a person. And I have to laugh at the deepfake stuff with us because there's no fucking way she'd kiss someone she doesn't even know. And she knows I hate being touched, so she would have the same reaction. But our ace asses aren't going on a show like this anyway. But I would love to see an ace couple laugh their way through a dating show.

Omg I'm so glad you're talking about this show. I grew up watching VH1 dating shows, happily sat through all seasons of Love is Blind and the Ultimatum, and even watched MILF Manor. I watched (almost) 1 episode of Deep Fake Love and couldn't get any further, it's SO awful and cruel. I definitely second Kennie that no one should actually watch it, just watch this video instead lol
