38 years ago my dad took me to the steps where rocky ran. He grew up in Philadelphia. I was 12 years old. This video reminded me of that trip. Thanks for the great video ❣️
N another 🎥 movie tid bit, the ending 2 your volg crossing that blue bridge, is called the Ben Franklin Bridge it was used in the movie the Transformers !! Just saying 👌
I could have sworn I saw a vid not too long ago of a guy driving through this Kensington area and it was filled with fentanyl addicts. I would never get out of the car. Obviously they’re no longer there or Adam would never had stopped there. He’s adventurous but not stupid. What happened to all the addicts? Did the city get rid of them? Did they all die? Doubt it. Maybe the vid was during summer when it’s comfortable for the junkies to be on the streets. In the winter it’s better for them to move to Florida or California. 😏
The other dude should have been adrian. He already has the glasses!! lol. Great video but I do wish you would’ve collabed with Mike Kunda on the Rocky locations that would’ve been EPIC
Oh Adam, I'm so sorry you had to see this part of the city. I hope your next few days give you a better impression. We adopted our dog who was found wandering in Kensington so we gave him the middle name of Butkus after Rocky's dog. If you visit Laurel Hill you can see the prop headstones for Adrian and Paulie that are still there. Please also try John's Roast Pork for cheesesteak or roast pork. My husband and I get both and do a half and half split because they're both so good. Dalessandro's is must do, too. For sweets, Isgro's on Christian St. is the best! Try them, there's nothing bad on the menu! So excited you're here. Enjoy!
This is a loooooong overdue collab for these two and I’m happy to see it finally happening. Some may know and some may not know that Dan considers Adam to be basically the reason why Dan started RU-vid years and years ago! It was because of Adam Thee Woo! Two OG legends!
@@ericthedude9457 Nice try, stating facts Jack! No trolling needed. Content speaks for itself not to mention how many comments you poured over to find this one! Keep on doing the “ Best you can” I’m sure Woo Dog would appreciate it!
Actually they have collaborated in each others videos in the past. But here's the coolest part - neither on of them put the other in the thumbnails or the titles of the videos they're in. You just have to have randomly been watching the videos to find them. So while it's been a while since they've been in a video together, it's not the first time.
Hi, The dog and phonograph on the mosaic mural is the RCA Victor logo with Nipper the dog. One of the RCA Victor headquarters was near the waterfront in Camden and had a tower with beautiful RCA Victor logo windows in stained glass on each side. It was lit up at night and cpuld be seen from Philly. The building is still there and was rehabbed into apartments, I think. At least one of the windows may be at the Historical society. It was actually a big thing for Camden.
I frankly was shocked that you even drove down the worst and most dangerous street in Philly. I've seen videos of that area and it is appalling. I'm glad you made it through alive. I hope you don't go through there again. When you were filming that apartment house, you were drawing some attention. I'm surprised nobody came out and asked what the heck you were doing.
Omg you really did pick the worst neighborhood in Philly, the ole K & A where they do Kensington "Yoga"...Holy Cow 🤯🤯 And that's what sets you apart from the others 🙌🏻😁👍🏻
These are the woo vids that are the absolute best. Adam sooooo far out of his warm childish Disney cocoon and away from his comfort level, not knowing how to handle the inner city and Dan… like a 1-2 punch!😂😂😂
Bro...so glad you hooked up with the Philly Captain. He's a personal friend of mine for like 15 years I've known him. I know how much he respects you, and how you were the driving force for him to leave Boyds and showcase his love for Philly on RU-vid.... But man on man, Camden? I'm from Jersey....if you were in Camden, the only good reason to be in Camden (ok, there are two), one is to visit Donkey's steaks. Anthony Bourdain said in his tour, it was the "Best Philly Cheesesteak (just not in Philly)"....and then a Concert at the ampitheater....oh and the Aquarium...ok fine three reasons. Anyway, I haven't spoken to Jon, but I know you made his day....I'm glad you two got to connect! I look forward to both of your videos coming out! Enjoy your time here in Philly!.
Go to Atlantic City and see the historic Lighthouse and eat a sub at the White House deli where Burt Lancaster and Susan Sarandon did a scene in the cult film "Atlantic City" and Margate for Lucy the Elephant! Also travel through Hammonton and the Blueberry Capital of the World!
Great video, but use caution in Camden! It’s the most dangerous city in NJ. You should check out The Shore while you’re here. Plenty of exotic and interesting towns there. Bradley Beach has some of my favorite scenery! Born in NJ, but grew up in Florida after age 6. Came back to NJ in 2019. :)
The mirror building is by a local Philly artist called Isaiah Zagar. He has a place on South Street called The magic garden. The Philly Captain has made videos about him.
Hey Adam, nice work as always. As a South Jersey resident I love the content! We met you last year at a Red Sox game in Boston and you were super nice to take a pic with us. Keep up the great work!
The roll makes the cheesesteak or hoagie. Chain restaurants like Subway, Lenny's, Quizznos, Jersey Mike's, Firehouse, Primo, and Jimmy John's all have junk bread. Wawa used to source real rolls but now they make their own junk breads.
The weird part about Camden is. It's literally one of the most dangerous cities on the east coast. You literally can drive 10 mins away and you will find towns that have millon dollar homes.
Been like that for sometime, for the past 30 years.. Im surprised there are not a lot of "zombies", wonder where they gentrified them to or prison to, in ken?
Oh Lord 🥴 What a way to start a series of Philly my old hometown of 38 years. I’m embarrassed 😞 So many great areas this hopefully won’t turn the world off.
Rocky is a fictional character portrayed in the movies as Italian American from South Philly. When you got your cheesesteak and danish (you should have ordered a cannoli) from Termini's you were in South Philly, where Rocky was supposed to be from. The scenes from the movie- house, pet store, boxing club, el are located in Kensigton, a central north/east neighborhood primarily Irish working class back in the day- now mostly hispanic. South Philly is (use to be) the Italian neighborhood and i cant believe that your friend did not take you to the famous outdoor Italian (9th St) Market where Rocky runs in the morning as the market comes alive. Its one of the most iconic scenes and you were literally within a 5 min walk when at Terminis. Kensington served as a location for the film shoot. The spirit of Rocky and the persona that Philadelphians identify with is in South Philly.
I was born in Abington, a suburb. My grandparents are buried in Philly. I have been back one time and will NEVER go back unless they clean that disgusting city up. Sad that they have let a huge historical city just rot away.
@@cherannn No negativity Cheryl, just stating fact. What's sad is people who live there have that attitude, instead of wanting to clean it up and make it beautiful again, would rather have the drug and homeless problem, nothing personal
Adam, you probably did not know this but there is a statue in Philadelphia of A REAL LIFE Heavyweight Champion of the World. His name was Joe Frazier and he lived in Philadelphia for many years. Also, the Philadelphia Eagles just played in last Sunday’s Super Bowl. The city is still likely in a sadness hangover due to their last minute defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Philadelphia resident and so happy you’re here for a few days to explore the city, hope you enjoy your time. But do be careful some of those areas as they can be a little dicey.
I'm a retired architecture antique dealer. From 1990 til 2000 I went through the worst neighborhoods and took antiques out of thousands of abandoned buildings. Black neighborhoods were the most productive because other white antiquers were scared to enter these areas. Now watching Lord Spoda I see many other cities in the same condition. It's a shame but times change.
Dont know if youll read this in time: used to be a bar in old Philly area named for Larry Fine of 3 stooges. He supposedly lived in apartment above the now bar and restaurant.
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU GO HERE. I went here with my father and there were gang members at the end of the street sitting in chairs. This part of town is somewhere I will never return to. Great video though Adam.
Adam nice to see different areas that I haven’t seen before and to see some of the Rocky filming locations was very interesting and I’m sure it must have been a treat for you to actually be at the different Rocky filming locations now as far as your cheesesteak sandwich it looked good but to be honest I wouldn’t know a good cheesesteak if it bit me in the rear so I’m glad you liked it now the steps you went up where Rocky himself stood was beautiful and the footage you got from the top of the steps down the street was awesome but I will say I love the way you ended the video going over the bridge thanks for a great day now with that peace ☮️ love ❤️ and happiness to you Adam and I’ll see you on the next awesome Adam the daily woo adventure peace ☮️ out ✌️
some of spots i would direct you to: eastern state penitentiary for 12 monkeys, city hall for philadelphia w tom hanks, trading places duke and duke locations on south broad, comcast sphere, Dalessandro's steaks and nearby cave of Kelpius and Blow Out crash, donkeys place for steaks in camden from the Goldbergs
HEY ATW...I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE EPISODE, BUT, you DID IT!! The stairs from the movie " ROCKY" ! Thanks man! You nailed it! I was even yelling in my best "Mick Goldmill" imitation! I love when you "pepper in" some stuff in an episode JUST FOR FUN! Thanks.
Yeah with the World Series and the Super Bowl It must of felt like Rocky Balboa catching A Left,Right combination for the knock out twice in one year. I feel for ya but the Phillies and the Eagles are both great teams in their perspective sports and will probably both be right back in the thick of the Championship Fights for the upcoming 2023 seasons. So Good Luck.🍀
Ugh Philly and Camden stay safe not safe areas in some areas Adam! Hope you have a good time as a south Jersey girl glad u are visiting near our neck of the woods! Do love the Philly Cheesesteaks
ADR is all done and Dan and Rick are going their separate ways. I would love to see more Dan/Adam collaborations on new, unique ventures in the future though!
@@ericalarsen7562 yeah I knew ADR was done but one can always hope! Dan is hilarious and didn’t even know him and Adam knew each other! Love that they do 👍🏻
i know you’ve gotten this a few times already, but really, do be careful here in Philly & Camden! Enjoy your time here & the exhibit! I loved this vid & can’t wait for the others! It’s awesome seeing one of my favorites touring my city!
@@gregggoss2210 You can lie about the place all you want but if you think Camden is worse now than it was in the 90s when it was literally the murder capitol of the US there is no reasoning with you so there isnt a point in continuing this.
Camden to Philadelphia is similar how Gary, Indiana is to Chicago! Philadelphia is my place of birth! Yo Adam, other great movies like Trading Places and Manniquin were both filmed there! Ps, Rocky 3 and 4 was my best. I also like Creed!🙂
As someone who used to live in Philly, and lived in Chicago for 30 years, your observation is the very same one I had. Gary is the equivalent of Camden for Chicago.
glad you had your blinders on Adam, that part of Philly is now on your fellow RU-vidRS channel(MOBILE INSTINCT) about the drugs and homelessness in that area, it's a real Blight, focusing on Rocky was a good thing, i'm sure you saw some THINGS that made you go HMMMMM!
ADAM THE WOO and DAN BELL !!! This will be a Fun Vlog !!! You Guys, as well as JORDAN THE LION and SCOTT ON TAPE.... ALL MY FAVORITES !!! This was Fun ! :)
Adam , I spent 2 years in Camden in the early ups, it was beautiful then. Lived about 100 feet from Medford lakes I was a kid then. Not sure if I would ever go back there. With that being said , it can't be any worse then the South Bronx where I was born... Now live in montana for 33 years it's like heaven compared to where I used to live. THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.....
@@smokeymchaggis73 that's good, as a kid I thought it was awesome. But since then I heard nothing good about it. I know the lake we lived off of was a dream come true. Again I was about 7 years old and spent all day in the water and trying to catch minnows with a towel and a friend on the other end, we would scoop up under them , but never cought any. Adams video brought back a flood of memories... PS can he see all the corresponding people do from his video's ? THANK you for your response.....
@Frank Marullo ,if you lived in Medford Lakes, that is far from Camden City. Medford Lakes is a beautiful area. Camden City is a hell hole of drugs, crime and despair. In the 50s, Camden was nice. The state has continually tried to put band-aid after band-aid on the gaping wound that is Camden, with no success.
@@gregggoss2210 thanks for that response you must live around there and yes Medford lakes was beautiful back then I guess it still is thank you FRANK FROM MONTANA.......
Awesome! This guest is a HOOT! BUY THE VAN! Wasn't for Adam but I loved the motorhome journeys. Eating BBQ in Texas. My daughter is in Houston. I'm still trying to get to one of them as our trips there are short and few.
I was there a few days ago with my wife and kids. We were unable to get out of the car at Rocky's apartment, it was so incredibly unsafe in the Kensington area. I never realized Rocky's apartment building was on the end of a row like that until seeing it. Still, very cool!
Welcome to Pennsylvania Adam! Enjoy your time, but please be safe. And if you find yourself back at Terminis try some canolli. One of the best. The horse shoe is a solid choice too. 👌
