Marc is just mad that it’s not: 1. Jacob DeGrom 2. Pete Alonso 3. Dom Smith 4. Brandon Nimmo 5. Edwin Diaz 6. Francisco Lindor 7. James McCann 8. J.D. Davis 9. Michael Conforto 10. Jeff McNeil
@@dylanwatt7461 He is properly ranked on 99.9% of lists, this is the 0.1% where he's underrated, and to put him at 3... I'd say the list is MASSIVELY underrating him.
@John-Michael Delton White but here's the thing Trout can't make it to the playoffs so how can you give someone an advantage when the other player hasn't been there in 6 years
@John-Michael Delton White I'm wondering who is better ted williams or joe dimaggio Some people say ted but some people say Joe Who do you think is better?
@John-Michael Delton White yeah I dont understand why people freak out about it. Tbh trout just hasn't been way above everyone else these last 2-3 years like he has been before. Not saying he isnt the best- but it's kinda cringe seeing people freak out this much over someone dropping him a peg or 2 based on his defense not being on par with hitters who are slightly behind him in that aspect. Fanboying for him has gotten really cringe.
Look at the all time OPS+ leaders. Trout is 5th. He is behind Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Barry Bonds, and Lou Gehrig. He is one of the best hitters of all time and even if his defense and speed has gotten worse his hitting makes up for it
You’re saying seagers 60 game plus stretch is an over reaction but you get mad when people overrate tatis when he had a 60 game stretch and not including his atrocious September baseball
Tatis has basically played a whole season between 19 and 20. And his stats in that span are completely ridiculous. A one month slump is nothing unusual.
Wow talk about clowns over here. Tatis is a face of baseball and deservably so. He is a generational talent. Go touch some grass and treasure this guy playing. Top 10 player in the league, arguably top 5.
As a Dodgers fan, I will definitely agree that Seager isn't Top 10. I think he has that potential if he puts together a couple injury free seasons like last year, but its a big stretch to say Top 10 right now. I WILL say though that I would take him over Bogaerts every day of the week and twice on Sunday. But essentially you're right, not top 10. Also Trout at 3 is insane.
My top 10 list: 1. Every player on the Orioles 2. Every player on the Marlins 3. Every player on the Blue Jays 4. Every player on the Mariners 5. Every player on the Reds 6. Every player on the Rockies 7. Every player on the Cardinals 8. Every player on the Cubs 9. Every player on the White sox 10. Mike Trout :)
You should do something like a top 25 list just by their peak performance, like maybe an Inconsistent or an injury prone player that is a top player would have a much higher ranking than normal
You should look at the comment section on the MLB channel’s top 100 player rankings. Dodger fans actually think Mookie Betts is better than Mike Trout. Like...how?
They make Trout #3 to generate buzz. No one would talk about it if it was an accurate list. You’re part of the media now surely you know this. 1. Trout 2. Betts 3. Yelich 4. Acuña 5. Soto 6. Bellinger 7. Degrom 8. Jose Ramirez 9. Lindor 10. Tatis
My top 10: 1. Mike Trout by far 2. Mookie Betts 3. Juan Soto 4. Ronald Acuna Jr. 5. Freddie Freeman 6. Cody Bellinger 7. Christain Yelich 8. Jacob DeGrom 9. Fernando Tatis Jr. 10. Nolan Arenado
Judging seagers based on 18-19 stats when he was coming off double surgery’s is insane, his stats last year at the plate were elite and he was underperforming based on his advanced stats.
Hey what do you think about Jose Altuve? I mean he's insane: 311 BA, 819 OPS, 458 SLG. MVP, 6x All Star, 5x Silver Slugger, 3x Batting Title, and 2x ML PoY. WEhat do you think mark? Do you think he's top ten?
You should do a reaction to the top 100 players quiz that you did the other day because they were definitely some head scratchers in that list, like manny Ramirez on the list but not Ortiz.
While I would firmly disagree, if you want to argue Trout at 2 behind Betts, I’d be willing to at least hear you out. 3 is downright criminal. My top 10: 1. Trout 2. Betts 3. Soto 4. Acuña 5. Bellinger 6. Lindor 7. Yelich 8. DeGrom 9. Arenado 10. Freeman
I can say with atleast 100% certainty that if Mookie didn't win the World Series he doesn't get as much love. He could still put up the exact same numbers but not win the world series and I'm willing to bet no one would be dumb enough to think Trout isn't number 1
Giraffe I don’t agree with mookie being first and I’m a dodgers fan I think trout should be up top but I think the reason he put betts over trout is because they have similar stats in almost everything and the war just boosts betts in the persons eyes like u said about gardener and Harper while he may have a better war from 2018 to 2020 his overall stats are not similar to harpers
For me a good way to evaluate a player, (obviously not the best way but a good way) is to take their career WAR or WAR over a certain desired period of time, and divide it into how many games were played over that same amount of time. You'll find how many games it takes a player to produce 1 Win Above Replacement. Using this I found Matt Chapman and A-Breg are EASILY the #1 and #2 3rd basemen.
[ ] Top 10 Mookie Betts Ronald Acuna Jr Mike Trout Juan Soto Cody Bellinger Fernando tatis jr Jacob Degrom Christian yelich DJ LeMahieu Francisco Lindor This is my buddies top 10, lives and dies watching the game! He’s a huge Mets fan as well. What you think ?
This is hilarious, if you're not a clown when evaluating war stats you look at fwar and bwar (usually I think fwar does a better job tbh) and for fwar trout is ahead of betts.
@John-Michael Delton White eh idk if I agree, just because offense is a lot easier to metricize so trouts obvious superiority there holds more weight to me than defense which is remarkably difficult to quantify
Matt Chapman is probably one of the most slept on players around, if you look at his 2019 (last normal season) he hit 36 homers and he is probably the best fielding third basemen in the league. If this guy gets out of Oakland and onto a team like Boston, either New York team, or the dodgers I feel like he would be on all of these lists
Okay, saying there is no world Mookie is above Trout isnt correct to be completely honest. Its a terrible list but Mookie and Trout are fairly close, saying "no world hes better" is just a little much. Love the content though, just seemed too reactive
@Ulises Leon playoffs or not, mookie is still in the argument for best player. I didnt like that he said "in no world" when mookie is faster and has miles better defense. idc hitting numbers, trout is a bottom 3 center fielder and slower. There at least isnt a way someone can say mookie has no argument for best
I dunno man... Trout is almost 100 OPS points higher since 2018, that's decent separation. Trout is basically what Pujols was from 2005-2009, the best player without a doubt.
@Ulises Leon I'm sorry, if you think anyone, but Pujols was the best player in the league between those years, you need to go back and actually look at his numbers. He was by far the best player in the league
Maybe Sherman put Seager at 10 because of WRC+ from that graphic you put up. That would make him second among SS last season and maybe that’s why he did it.
@John-Michael Delton White do you really think postseason stats are that important? This is the second comment I have seen from you pointing out postseason stats. They really aren’t that important and don’t mean much when evaluating a player. Also Trout has been to the playoffs ONCE.
Is it stupid for me to put Seager as a top 5 player in the MLB (of non pitchers)? Bc what he did in the playoffs was astronomical and I’m a Rays fan and he gave us the work.
While Seager at 10 does surprise me, it is completely ignorant to say that it’s an overreaction to only 60 games (or 78 with playoffs). Don’t forget this guy won NL Rookie of the year and has a top 3 NL MVP finish on his resume before he lost a year to TJ surgery, something Bogaerts, Turner, and Story can’t say. I would say that you in fact Marc are overreacting to an injury plagued 2019- and one in which he still lead the NL in doubles. Because when healthy, Seager is a top 3 SS in the league, something he reaffirmed last year. Look at his hard hit rate- top in baseball last year.
