Ahaha was my first bike at 18 and it was interesting lol still have it and 21 now I love it. And I am glad I started on it, now when you get on other bikes they feel slow or just pretty easy to ride.
Was up in your neck of the woods this past weekend; took the grandkids to Dutch Wonderland. I told my GF that I was looking for you anywhere on a bike. I must have just missed you. Haha! I like this bike, too. Thanks for the review and ride along!
At 5:30 , I am in total agreement, "but it doesn't look cool dude" You'll look as cool as a hood ornament in short order! Looks are fine, functionally proper is better.
I looked at the Warrior, the VTX 1800, and the M109 and after riding a few of all three, I bought a 2006 Warrior and LOVE IT! Vance and Hines Big Shots, Monster baffles, PCIII, and Patrick Racing Cam Kit and its AWESOME!!!!
QuinnUltra that's 3 of the 6 bikes I'm looking at the other 3 are raider & Stryker by yamaha or the victory arleness jackpot let me know what you think of any of those 3 or anyone for that matter
I've owned/commuted/raced my Warrior for about 8 years now. Late last season I got a hell of a deal on a VTX1800. I wasn't looking for another motorcycle but this was one of those "can't pass it up" deals (about $2500 under book, less than 5500 miles). I was going to flip it but the VTX is more comfortable than the Warrior, so I'm keeping it - at least for now. I like the VTX but LOVE the Warrior.
I own a 2002 Yamaha Warrior totally Custom starting with 5 Star RC Component Chrome Wheels on it with the brake mechanism attached to the Pulley, Chromed swing arm, Chromed forks, actually Custom chromed parts all over the bike. Barron handlebars, Stiletto pegs, Rinehart Shorty mufflers, Stage 4 engine kit with porting, and Custom flame paint job and more. A total Hot-Rod, nicked named Cruel Jewels...Love the sound of the Velocity stacks and the Crackling sound of the mufflers... It will do mid 11 seconds in the quarter mile. Not quite as fast as the new V-Max but a Beautiful and Fun riding machine...
Does it have a lot of vibration. Just bought one I feel that it has a lot of vibration while riding. Sorry I’m new to the muscle bike and just curious. Thanks
Great review, have learned to trust your impressions and value your opinions. "A fine example of a FACTORY Muscle Bike" sums the Warrior up pretty well. : ) Rock on, Brother and God Bless
Loved my 05' MIdnite Warrior Tuned with DynoJet Power Commander'..it Hit 136* over the Missouri RIVER Bridge' just about every time I rode it.. I grew up on dads KZ900s ! and doin 130+ ... now Ive got a Factory Custom Raider SCL* ! 1900cc POWAAAA !
Quick question if you do not mind me asking: How comfortable is the Warrior to ride for say 12 hours? Can it be done without breaking out the neoprene air-cushion and sheepskin I currently use on my 2006 FZ6 for such trips?
@@DavionSobek honestly it would be tough to ride long distance. Theres people that do it but i would need more comfortable bars, highway pegs, and a windscreen. With Stock set up, your a little scrunched forward.
@@illsuspect Yeah, I sat on a similarly styled bike recently and it was not something I would enjoy. Coincidentally I just test rode a 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Nomad yesterday and was grinning like a complete idiot the whole time. Recently serviced and with less than 19000KM, I think I found my new bike. I originally thought about selling my current bike (the aforementioned FZ6) but for what it was valued at I felt that it would not be worth it and the riding styles are so different that they both scratch completely different itches.
@@dfhowes Hmm, yeah. I am only 27 and an athletic powerlifter and I still struggle to get comfortable on my bike for long distances despite being fit and flexible. When I was 23 I did a 2000KM journey from Saskatchewan to Vancouver in 36 hours and was sore for days afterwards despite frequent stops and stretches. Never doing that again, unless I have a bike that is comfortable enough. I said it screw it and went with the Vulcan Nomad on Thursday and spent all day riding it and it never not felt luxuriously comfortable for that entire duration. I still get tingles thinking about riding a Warrior but the Vulcan can really rip and until I actually have a niche it could fill or get promoted at work then it will have to wait on the back burner. In the meantime you will have to enjoy yours for me. XD Ride on!
Almost bought one I was looking for a Suzuki boulevard C90 and the Yamaha warrior was in the running but ended up settling with a 03 Fatboy and very happy with the bike so far. Not too heavy I can still pick it up by myself which I didn't think I could do but yeah great bike the Yamaha would probably be my second choice to Harley. If I had a stricter budget the Yamaha would have been the choice
Had one all modded to my suiting only to have a pickup take me out. Settled on the grampa version silverado. Not even close in the handling department.
I have a 02 1700 with less than 9k miles an I love it I have to replace a few parts, but other than that it’s a great bike my first motorcycle and I’m not disappointed.
Alright. I'll be honest. Being new to motorcycles and all, I'm still not used to everything to do with them. Including acceleration. But I'll tell you what, when you grabbed that throttle and it launched, man I felt that in my gut. And I wasnt even on the stupid bike. 😂
A little attention before you test ride it goes a long way. Things like a bath and detail. Check the fuel level, replace bad mirrors before you take it for a spin. I know. I sound like your Mom, but it might help you stay out of a sticky situation.
HD made the V-rod bc of the warrior. I have a 06 warrior and i come in like 2nd or 3rd at bike shows bc of the V-rod. Other then that i im usually in first. But match the warrior up with the HD V-rod
The Vrod is smaller displacement, but has more HP. The warrior has WAY more torque. Of the line the Warrior should smoke the Vrod, but the Vrod will have longer legs. My Warrior will hit 140, but i still think a Vrod would outrun me in the long run.
hujimix I wonder the same. I have Pegs on my warrior and they can be a little uncomfortable on longer rides. These mini floors look like a nice middle ground.
In the Yamaha Raider video you mentioned that you’re 6’2”. I’m the same height, do you feel that you looked too big/tall on the warrior? I’ve been considering getting this bike and that’s one of my concerns.
I also own a warrior and other then maybe a z1000 or speed triple or a new vmax there is not a new one built u would rather own. That is just the opinion of a dedicated warrior fan, so im sure im a little biased. Just one more thing you do not drive motorcycles you ride them lol. Just saying only cause old timers made fun of me years ago for saying that
That's comparing apples to oranges. The bike is an f u to the harley boys. It's a great street bike. Its aggressive looks and power and being rare on the streets let's everyone know your a con a sore (not sure of the spelling). Patrick racing used to race these bikes which the still make parts for but harley bought them out. Hum I wonder why. Anyway Yamaha only builds the best. Just my two cents. Take care
Warrior Vs. Concours 14? I suspect the connie smokes the warrior. Cool web site too. Will be checking you out when it is time to add to the stable. Missed the prayer or scripture this time around...
At 5'5" I'd play it safe if I were you and throw on a set of training wheels for atleast the first 6 mos. until you get a feel for the bike. Good luck and enjoy the ride.
Don't know if you ever got around to getting one, but at 5'4" I'm pretty confident and comfortable on mine. I'm just slightly tilted to the left at stop lights. The only thing is it's WIDE.
UGH ... Roadstar Warrior with 43,000 miles vs 04' Shadow Sabre with 10k miles. Both bikes in showroom condition. Can't decide if the extra grunt of the Warrior is worth giving up my very low mileage, blue flame Sabre for :-(
Baird's Bikes Videos yeah I’d always heard it referred to as a “Road Star 1700” and I know the actual displacement isn’t ever the same as the number it’s given
I own both. I took both of them out to the strip and they did about the same. The VTX has more HP and torque but weighs about 120 lbs. more. The Warrior does far better in the corners, but the VTX is more comfortable.
usmarinecuv902 I suspect this bike will beat a vtx1800. It's very light compared to most bikes in this class. I expect it would probably walk away from a kawasaki 2000. It's the fastest two cylinder I've ever ridden. Definitely faster than the Kawasaki 1600 and 1700 bikes.
Just did some internet research. Apparently, the Yamaha is 658 pounds fully fueled. A VTX1800 is exactly 100 pounds more. The Yamaha has a shamefully low 8.3 to 1 air-cooled compression ratio. The Honda has a slightly less shameful 9.0 to 1 with its liquid cooling.
