General rule; boss characters are ferocious when you play against them and are weaklings when you play as them. This guy takes that rule, lights it on fire, slices it in half, and then stomps what's left into the ground.
Alex Waters I prefer Xu Shu, to be honest. Something about his fighting style strikes that pleasant cord in me. In terms of the Empires, though, I enjoyed Wei a lot more.
Prodigy Bangah That, and he's badass enough to have his own Theme Song. If Lu Bu gets his very own Theme Song, then some of the old stories about him have to have some truth to them, yeah?
And that's how everyone meets Lu Bu the first time. "Oh yeah, big bad officer with high morale. I know this shtick, I'll just take him out and WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT runrunrunrunrurnunrun."
@@blaxility8028 Heh, I once had a funny moment involving Lu Bu. I was in a defense mission when Lu Bu showed up as enemy reinforcements....it ended up being me literally running in circles around my Main Camp (away from Lu Bu), so that it couldn't be captured while I was there, until the timer ran out (this happened in an Empires game when the area that got attacked wasn't protected very well yet since I was still building up my forces at the time when suddenly....IT'S LU BU!!!! RUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNN!!!!"). All of my officers in that region except for the one that I was controlling got captured too, so it really cost me a lot even though I technically "won" that particular fight. That was very much an instance of a Pyrrhic Victory for me. :P Albeit one that ended in a rather "cartoony" way.
Literally happen to me. I played Warriors Orochi 4 first which contains auto save on checkpoints. Then I tried Dynasty Warriors 8, killed by him and have to start the battle all over again. Didn't know you have to manually interim save. Feels bad.
TheGalaxyBoy I actually defeated him on chaos mode.I ran and hit ran and hit and when i was low health I used musou atack then ran.Its a very eficient way
but Tadakatsu also has a theme...granted it's not as epic as Lu Bu's, but it does get the blood pumping. tho, rather than a "rip off your head and shit down your neck" theme, it's more of a "i'm gonna german supplex you 3 floors down the keep" kinda feel...
When you thought he couldnt get more awesome, you learn he has a airship in trails of cold steel and has the awesome title of "The Radiant blademaster"
I remember DW5 hu lao gate actually defeating lu bu I got to red health and then just ran until my musou attack was ready It took like 30 minutes I was so proud xD
Thats actually the only way to defeat him in any game , get low health to the point of getting free musou and keep spamming him while running away until it recharges.
Too bad Koei took the liberty of making lubu impossible to beat even with red heath by giving his Hu Lao AI good reaction and Hyper armor from 7 and up.
And the officers runs to help you, lu bu hits a few hits and then this Lu bu has defeated yan liang Lu bu has defeated guan yu Lu bu has defeated zang fei Lu bu has defeated cao hong Lu bu has defeated dian wei
Why is everyone talking about how hard Lu Bu is? In every game i've played I kill him in seconds even on Chaos difficulty, the only exception is DW 4 or 5 I forget which one, which was the first time I had ever seen Lu Bu and had no idea who he was, and he was massively stronger than me and just raped me in a couple swings of his weapon, I tried for half an hour and couldnt beat him. Avoided him, maxed out my hero, came back, tried again, now at level 50 versus lu bu who should've been level 10, and i still got owned. Got a Chaos Weapon (The best weapon at the time) And then I beat him. But every game after that he's been a bitch pushover. I wish all the games made him as badass as the first time I saw him, and more importantly, why can't allies be badass? Why is it whenever I had lu bu on my army, especially in Empires, he just dies like hes parapellegic.@@brunoraoni
I've never played Dynasty Warriors, but from what I've gathered, there are three rules you must follow. 1.) Do not pursue Lu Bu. 2.) Do not pursue Lu Bu. 3.) FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS SACRED, DO NOT PURSUE LU BU.
Lu Bu is at varying strengths throughout the series. 2 is practically invincible. 3 is kinda weak. 4 is a bitch on the battlefield but an ass kicker in duels. 5 is also a bitch, just watch out for his musou rage. 6 should be avoided until at least level 25. 7 is probably the weakest version of him, and 8 should be avoided at all costs. He'll practically one-shot anyone who isn't fairly leveled.
+Ean Carter Well, if younare hardcore, like me, you will try to defeat him with a character you never use before at low level, but if you want to kill him fast... Lianshi, crossbow with cyclone 10 and Lu Bu is almost death with one hit n.n
Xing of Bashu Is Cao Pi your favorite character? I know how you feel, Guan Ping is my favorite male character and then my favorite female character is Wang Yuanji n.n
My first time encountering Lu Bu was in DW4. I didn't know who he was, so I was like "pfft, please, all the other officers were cake, he's just gonna, what? Hit a little harder? I'll take him out easy." BOY WAS I WRONG.
I gotta say this song saved my life ! I've always been a DW fan since i was a kid now im a grown man with a job. Story is, i have a dangerous job im a high voltage lineman (13.8 KV ) and as a part of my job i have to change high voltage fuses on power transformers, sometimes it's fine and sometimes it explode with a very terrifying sound, they gave us ear protectors but they don't do shit, so i had this idea to put on my headphones while im listening to Lu bu's theme song while i change fuses, i swear guys, when that fuse exploded i never heard a sound ... Thanks koei
@@kevinkaslana9060 I play dynasty Warriors 6 but I still have the same feeling that you felt what I don't understand is in some stories why would Koei make hulao gate the first level what were they thinking EEEE
Koei was probably thinking "Hey, let's make the first level a tutorial of what to do, and the second something the players should NOT do! And better yet, add a tough guy to show them that it's possible to beat him later in the game!" Seriously, WTF WERE THEY THINKING?!
I remember the first time I played Dynasty Warriors 6, I was playing as Zhao Yun in the battle of Hu Lao gate.Everything went well until Yuan Shao say not to face Lu Bu and simply ignore it but as I was very curious I invented To attack Lu Bu and then I simply screwed up and lost the whole battle. Conclusion: do not attack Lu Bu '-'
Lu Bu fought his entire life to prove himself, to make a name for who he was. He died to Cao Cao, who swore to remember him. And now he's revered as one of the most badass warriors in all of fiction. Even when pitted against gods and other fictional badasses, we assume he stands a fighting chance and just sort of upgrade his power. The dude has taken a more solid place in history than almost any other man during that era, except for maybe Guan Yu... who got his ass kicked by Lu Bu.
Lu Bu: Damn I can't believe it, its 21st century and ppl are worshiping me. I beaten you you Guan Yu ppl are worshiping me now as BADASS Warrior. Guan Yu. you own me 10 gold Taels. Guan Yu: You are just lucky that videos games turned you into god.
Fuck yeah, the one thing that pissed me the fuck off though was he got his Ass kicked by Nehza in Warriors Orochi 3. Lu Bu is by far my favorite, and when I saw him keep on losing to that puny-ass, pre-teen mother fucker I would yell at the screen 'How is that possible!? What the fuck is happening!?" Because we NEVER see it in a cutscene, it always happens off-screen, which pissed me off. At the very least when Lu Bu lost to Tatakatsu Honda in the first one, he was a worthy opponent and was the Japanese equivalent to Lu Bu so I could kind of understand, even though I still wanted Lu Bu to win despite him being the villain at the time. But all in all, we all know Lu Bu can defeat both of those guys (He has a far more superior move set than Nezha and Honda) easily, it was just Koei's writing at the time saying "Lu Bu has to lose to Tatakatsu Honda, because Honda is the good guy." so they gave him plot armor. They're writing with Nezha I don't even fucking know what they were smoking with that. It would have better if he fought and lost (and then won later perhaps) against Achilles.
My first time playing DW were be like. Lu Bu showed up : Why is he so tough, okay i just run away then In the middle of running : Hey there is a weak female officer attacking me, better defeat her to get better drop Lu Bu furious : Why is the dude running toward me in high speed and what is up with that intense black and red aura?? Lu Bu catching up with me and slash me once, my last word was : "Holy!!! shi-"
When he walks by with that theme going on, the only thing his enemies can think to say is "這樣一個他媽的壞屁股!" ("Zhèyàng yīgè tā mā de huài pìgu!") _("Such a fucking bad ass!")_
He still suffering. Lu Bu is a great warrior but abysmal politician and planner. While is a good husband and father his good quality of him overshadowed by his brutal treatment to his subbodinate and his infamy of his moral (in most Asian country. Killing your own father, step father and evil or not is a hedious crime.). In the end he was out smart by Cao Cao and Liu Bei combine might. That's why smart people rule the country not strong people. On the other note. Cao Cao have a plan to pardon Lu Bu and recruit him. But Liu Bei don't want Cao Cao have any more strong warrior so he used Dong Zhou's case against Lu Bu. Telling Lu Bu have no loyalty and respect to anyone. Such a fate of mighty but simple mind warrior.
Three rules against this beast 1: Do not pursue Lu Bu. 2: Do not fight him by yourself. 3: Do not defeat Diaochan. Punishment for breaking Rule 1? He catches up to you if you try and run away after said pursuit. Punishment for breaking Rule 2? He will mess you up a thousand times over without fail. And the punishment for breaking Rule 3? *He will come to your house, slaughter you and hang your head over his wall!*
Lu Bu the Greatest badass in Dynasty Warriors. I still wonder how Lu Freaking Bu Conceived the cutest of the female characters (in my opinion) and quite possibly the character with the saddest back story in Lu Lingqi.
@Kaiser Isaiah Foo historically, lu bu daughter was nameless because her name wasn't recorded. Her role in history is just marriage material used by lu bu. There is a book online for free called my father in law is lu bu.
Player : Hello KoeiTecmo, it seems like Lu Bu is chasing me to the edge of the map. Can you fix this? KoeiTecmo : Well, what did you do before that? Player : I killed Diaochan. KoeiTecmo : Well you're fucked.
Dong Zhou: *Takes Diaochan as his concubine* Lu Bu: *throws open the gates, screaming at the top of his lungs* *Meanwhile* Cao Cao: What the Devil is that noise?
Liu Bei: Younger Brother, do you hear that? Guan Yu: I felt that. Sun Ce: Ah, now it’s time for a nice, refreshing sports drink- huh? What the heck is that? *in Heaven* Zhang Jue: Purgatory. Purgatory. Hell. (*screaming*) Denise do you hear that. Oh goodness, is that my wife? LEAVE ME ALONE! YOU ALREADY TOOK THE KIDS WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT? *in the future* Lu Lingqi: Once we get this time machine up and running I can go back and save my fath- (*screaming*)...Daddy?
Ever since Dynasty Warriors 3, Lu Bu's theme has been my workout "I can't push any more, I'm done...NO! MORE!" theme. Still pumps me up to this day. In a way Lu Bu has pushed me to be stronger thanks to his badass theme.
Awesome n Amazing theme song n I just love n enjoy Dynasty Warriors 3,4,5,6,7,8 we play with everyone on there n I just Lu Bu he is Amazing n Awesome n he is the Ii always play with on number 4 cause he is Amazing 💖♥️💛💙💚💞💕🧡💜
First time in my life i encountered him was in DW4. So the cutscene plays after the gate is down, and i see him, and im like ok who the fuck is that? He is going down like the rest. Yeah, i remember Cao Cao saying don't get cocky. Funny thing is, i was playing with my best friend co op i warned him about Lu Bu to stay away, shoot an arrow steal his horse and fuckin fly away. Yeah, no he went straight ahead to fight him...
He's traitor, stubborn , bad guy , not a hero but the only reason that people remember him because of his absolute strength. The greatest warrior of all China.
Yeah, Lu Bu's pretty strong... But is he stronger than Uchiha Madara? And I'm not talking about Edo Tensei Uchiha Madara. No, I'm not talking about Gedou Rinne Tensei Uchiha Madara. Hell, I'm not talking about Juubi Jinchuuriki Gedou Rinne Tensei Uchiha Madara either. I'm talking about Kono Yo no Kyūseishu Futarime no Rikudō Juubi Jinchuuriki Gedou Rinne Tensei Uchiha Madara with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan (which is capable of Enton Amaterasu, Izanagi, Izanami and the Tsyukuyomi Genjutsu), his two original Rinnegan (which grant him Chikushōdō, Shuradō, Tendō, Ningendō, Jigokudō, Gakidō, Gedō, Banshō Ten'in, Chibaku Tensei, Shinra Tensei, Tengai Shinsei and Banbutsu Sōzō) and a third Tomoe Rinnegan on his forehead, able to completely control the tatsumaki senpyaku, equipped with his henshin sentai taikan, after having obtained a black belt from the Jackie Chan while holding a baby in a ladder factory, wearing the Kamen Rider Black RX suit capable of using Katon, Fūton, Raiton, Doton, Suiton, Mokuton, Ranton, Inton, Yōton and even Onmyōton Jutsu, alongside a full mastery of the Soukou Akki Muramasa equipped with his Gunbai (capable of using Uchihagaeshi) and a Shakujō because he is a master in kenjutsu and taijutsu, a mastered Senshinkan Bansenjin, equipped with Shining Trapezohedron while casting Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann as his Susanoo (that can use Yasaka no Magatama ), having become the original vampire after Alucard, with both original codes and duel Geass in both eyes with the sword of Akasha and the Ragnarök connection, control of both the Juubi and the Gedou Mazou, with Hashirama Senju's DNA and face implanted on his chest, the Kitto and Sumiwataru Asairo Yori, his four Rinbo Hengoku Clones guarding him and nine Gudōdama floating behind him AFTER he absorbed Senjutsu from the First Hokage, embedded the Saihate Ichiban in his Sekai, entered Rikudō Senjutsu Mode, able to tap into the speedforce, cast Mugen Tsukuyomi on everybody and used Shin: Jukai Kōtan so he can use their Chakra while they are under Genjutsu, having eaten Popeye's spinach and a fully unleashed zangetsu bankai with the collective might of the uruboros demon society.
Madara is on a whole other scale of power than Lu Bu. Now don't get me wrong, I love Dynasty Warriors and my childhood is Naruto, but come on, there's a universal difference of power between them. Most characters in Naruto could tear Lu Bu a new one in a couple of seconds, Onoki could disperse Lu Bu's cells across the planet, but MADARA?! Is that even a question?
Ian Prescott Yeah but Lu Bu is a better character than Madara. And at least he isn't immediately replaced by a stronger foe. Hes the pinnacle of strength. Also, Lu Bu originated from a good series that doesn't require 10 min long flashbacks and nakama power. What I'm saying is that Madara is definitely more powerful, but fuck is he a boring generic main villain from a generic overrated anime.
yoooo i kinda stopped playin these games before dw8 but lu bu's theme has always been super nostalgic and like. integral 2 my dynasty warriors experience and this version hits HARD
Fond memories of 14 year old me (Guan Yu) and AI Zhao Yun, Zhang Fei, Liu Bei and all of Cao Caos lot takong Lu Bu on during Hu Lao Gate. I got that final hit... it was me. After much hard work, it was worth it. Best boss ever.
The Nightmares of Strategy Games: Lu "Fengxian" Bu: Dynasty Warriors series Honda Tadakatsu: Samurai Warriors/ Sengoku Basara Series Ashikaga Yoshiteru: Sengoku Basara 4 Knight Gundam: Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 Musha Gundam: Dynasty Warriors Gundam Series These guys are the embodiment of Action turned "Survival Horror" because how hard they were and makes you think twice before attack or even charging at them lol 😆
+Hagunemnon Please -- the Mountain is overrated -- can anyone provide Lu Bu with a decent challenge?! Let Lu Bu take on Drogon. Awww yeah! He'd be all up in that dragon's face, and end up having it as a new warmount. Danaerys would be like wtf dude!?
I pursued Lu Bu and died as like chopped chicken. Tried to fight him as like endurance battle, still dead away. In DW 7, I always bullying Lu Bu with using my favorite loli with heavy bazooka-like gun (LOL) In DW 8, fuck together. Until last I fucked so bad. Again, don't pursue Lu Bu. Except you are kamikaze lol. For me. 100/10 must continue pursue Lu Bu for extreme challenge.
I remember fighting this man with Dun first during Wei campaign when I started, then I used Guan Yu during Shu's Story in 8 on the 2nd half. I got *FUCKED* when I used Xiahou Dun, but I didn't even get scratched when I used Guan Yu, and even I find that bullshit.
I'm sure most of us are going to agree to disagree here. My personal favorite versions of the theme are in DW 5, 7 and now 8 because of the Kick-ass tempo and an almost thunderous beat. In any regards, we can all agree the moment this music kicks in there's only one viable strategy: Run like hell, throwing as many NPCs in your way as you possibly can.
