@@Calebyeeepp yeah, it is. I realize that younger generations may think that it means getting high, but the older generations know that getting lit stood for getting drunk long before that.
@Calebyeeepp Older cinema and books (I’m talking 50s-80s) use the term “high” to mean drunk, rather than referring to reefer. It does seem kind of ambiguous to me, but it’s definitely a reference to one or the other.
I thought his name was a reference to the filmore west/east venues where a lot of hippie era artist played at, but its a reference to a route 66 muralist
Likely their pilot to reach to a larger audience. Like how my little pony was for little girls when I was little to now they got a brownys out here. That's what I'm guessing. You take any kid show, throw in some adult references since likely a parent may be sitting by watching and they get a kick out of it too. But we all know it's not kid movies that we are sneaking off to watch at our cousins house. It was cujo, nightmare on Elmo street, Chuckie, American werewolf in london😅
No shit captin obvious he's a hippie Stoner van of course he's at least stoned 24/7 and probably a little perma fried too. But literally everyone knew this, hell I was 5 when the movie came out and I knew he was stoned the entire movie
@@pitiantifrizYou can find it on youtube, just search for cars romanian translation, and a playlist will appear. In the playlist there are 4 minute videos. Search for the scene. You will eventually find it. It does ask if he snorted something.
The best adult joke is when Lightning gets flashed by Mia and Tia it's hilarious when your older but a "Okay they just turned on their headlights" when your younger.
@@alexharreman4104as we saw the yellow light on the streetlight was blinking the van sweres it is slower on the third blink the jeep "sarge" thinks hes high the commenters above were unsure so they looked it up on google and found that the van is right but its only half a second so it doesn't really matter
Sally's tramp stamp? Miatas flashing lights Natural fuel being laced The lowrider (forgot the name) showing the random car lady his "undercarriage" Etc.
the more accurate thing to say for the 2nd one is that hippies were fond of taking drugs back in the 1960's, Fillmore, being a Volkswagen bus painted in flowers and peace signs and a lime-ish color, representative of the way hippies would paint their cars, added with the fact Fillmore is very "chill" from the drugs would basically Imply he does do drugs as a hippie.
“Did u notice the amount of drug references in cars” mentions two in total 💀 Edit: seeing those likes makes me so happy attention is one hell of a drug lol
I love how with the "every third light is slower" they changed the answer to "Did you find your stamp collection?" in hungarian. Because here people used to sell drugs on the back of paperstamps. Because you had to lick them in order to get the glue activate and stick to the letter so it wasn't weird to lick it. XD
@@kozmonauta0515 no you're dead wrong, back in the day acid used to come on a sheet of paper with little squares that had perforated edges, you could tare off one square at a time from the sheet. Each square of the sheet contained a certain amount of acid, users would put the squares on their tounges and it would dissolve and be absorbed into the bloodstream. The amount of squares one used determined how intense their "trip" was. Look it up.
@@Bumbumbr-zu5gcfun fact the third blink is slower in a lot of the shorts and one of the games they made. Cars has a list of details like that and they spread across the 3 movies
The first joke lost that meaning in the Polish version, it was translated to: - I don't need lights, because the track is always light. - Said grandma and then fell under a train
I was obsessed with this movie when I was a kid. So when rewatching I didn't go lazy. I slowed down and calculated light timing. Yes. Fillmore is right. 3rd blink is always slower. Every - single - time.
The voice actor for Fillmore is a comedian known as George Carlin. He is legendary and has had a long history of drug use even when he did his specials.
Filmore IS the drug joke, I will always love how his main character traits revolve around the hippe/stoner persona, hell, I bet he smokes some kind of coal in the shows lore
Damn bro, you literally answered my question about that film! I watched it with my kid the other day and noticed those scenes you mentioned. And caught the attention that they were talking about drug problems 😂🤯
100%, cars was my favorite movie as a kid because it was about talking cars, what kid doesn't love talking cars. It's my favorite movie now, because it's got jokes that I only understand now
