EDIT*** First off, can't believe this video got 100k+ views, truly grateful for all the positivity around this and hopefully was able to inspire some of you. | RIP CARL - Thank you for being such huge inspiration to me and million of others - "THERE IS NO TOMORROW"
Man I love this channel and I've supported you from day one and I will continue to do so because you do excellent quality content. But I disagree with this whole rocky phenomenon. You're talking about actors who played fighters. They are not real fighters. And they made more money off of playing fighters than fighters actually get paid. I get that carl was a good man. You're really given him way more credit than they actually deserve. Our fighters deserve all the credit. Not 2 actors who pretend to be a fighter. And I think I'm the only boxing fan who has no respect for the movie rocky. But I do respect you my friend. I think you are a good man. And then I admire how you talk about the fighters in our sport and how you always give them the respect they deserve. So I hope you don't take this comment as a shot to you because it's not. It's more of a shot to the movie rocky.
@Matthew - You’re talking pure nonsense. It’s not a competition between actors or sportsmen, nor is one group more deserving of respect than another. Rocky 1 was made on a shoestring, it was successful so the sequels made more money. Is your beef with the free market economy? LOL. An actor by definition is always portraying a role they are not, it’s called entertainment and storytelling and it’s older than Boxing by thousands of years. Anyone who is a master of their craft, such as Carl Weathers, who inspired millions of others (including countless boxers) is deserving of respect. I love boxing just as much as I love movies, but the reality is that actors inspire the masses just as much as boxers do, if not more so, and Apollo Creed was a fantastic character who’s imprint will live on.
Those words helped me through a dark time in my life when I was struggling with addiction and depression, always telling myself that tomorrow I would change things. I was helping a friend move, Rocky III was lying on top of a pile of dvds so I watched it while waiting for him to get back from work. That scene hit me like a sledgehammer and set me on a path to recovery. Thank you Carl Weathers for everything...rest in peace to the man who had the eye of the tiger.
I was born the year the original Rocky was released. Rocky and Apollo have always had a profound effect on me. I have been down in the dumps for the last 10 years and am running out of time. Carl Weathers passing has reminded me THERE IS NO TOMORROW. It's time for me to get off my ass and do something.
Carl Weathers was the reason why I have been training in the gym in my 40’s when I watched Rocky IV. I was listening to “No Easy Way Out” when I was running, I found out that he died that day. I can’t lie, I’m messed up right now because he meant so much to me.😔
This quote from Apollo in Rocky 4: " No maybe you think you're changing but you can't change who you really are, and you forget all this money you have around you because it doesn't change a thing". Those words always shook me till now as adult. RIP Apollo.
One thing great about Carl Weather’s character Apollo Creed is that he represented a true lifetime friend to the character of Rocky Balboa. He willingly engaged with him to better himself even when Rocky lost what made him great. He helped reach Rocky at his lowest point and made him return better than before. A true master class level of acting to instill true vigor and restitution to help his once biggest rival to overall greatest friend. RIP Carl Weathers. You are missed and still remembered
I've been watching this for over 25 years and it never gets old. It was a sad day as i grew up with Apollo and went not only to the boxing gym, but to the weight gym, to the beach, all inspired by his 'There is no tomorrow' legendary speech. RIP 👑
Great video man! The message here hits hard. I made big changes in my life last year. There never seems to be the right moment to take massive action, but when we remind ourselves that there is no tomorrow, we can better accept that NOW is the best time to start taking action.
Needed this. Every day I don't wake up to do my road work in the morning, I say "tomorrow". I've been doing bad in sparring, I've been slacking off and I that's when I say "tomorrow". Thank you for this amazint video
Damn right. Amen, brother! RIP, Carl. I was devastated when I found out. Life can definitely be constant opponent, (IF you let it,) Rocky said himself, "you me or nobody is gonna hit harder than life." We just have to roll with the punches. 😉
It's not just the words, There Is No Tomorrow! Those words come from his inner being. That's why they hit so hard (no pun intended). The words and his conviction slap you in your face and jolt your attention. This is one of those perfect movie scenes that are an integral part of life. There is no tomorrow, there is only right now!
Lots of love to the one and only Carl and his family. You inspired millions and showed people that is ok to fight with friends and then go on to be best friends with those you fought !! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Some of the best words to live by, can't count how many times I've pushed because of hearing those words. "No One's Time is promised, love you family and live for them like you may never see them again."
Man, the news hit me really hard.... I always liked Apollo´s character. I hope his family is all doing well under the circumstances. Really nice and thoughtful video, Jamie!
Rocky 3 has always been my favorite. its got a big heart i dont mind sayin, i cry most times. mickey dying. rocky losing his self belief, adrian bringing him back and carl weathers man.....carl weathers: APOLLO.......what a powerful man. rest in peace Carl what a champ
Agreed ...the first two rocky movies received all the major awards....but i have always had a soft spot for number 3. it's more extreme and out there but it's also done absolutely perfectly imo and has more overall depth than the others imo.
Thank you for making this video! I grew up saying them words to myself and preaching that as I used to get up and train THERE IS NO TOMORROW! I always want to make videos bc I'm really good at it I just never have. Thanks once again this video is 100 RIP CARL Weathers aka APOLLO CREED
When I was a kid my parents showed me Rocky and I grew up with it even though I wasn’t even close to being born when the movies came out. Both Rocky and Apollo were characters I really looked up to and I still do to this day. RIP Carl Weathers.
Had a chance to meet Carl at last years Star Wars festival in Anaheim. He was booked and pricey for a meet and greet. Wish I had done it now for his many roles in the movies I watched growing up. Especially as Apollo Creed, love ya Carl rest in peace and I will apply this speech to my life from here on out
From Rocky to Action Jackson, The Shield to Arrested Development, Carl Weathers was one of those guys who always made whatever he was in better. Sail on, Carl... baby, you got yourself a stew going.
Carl Weathers is everywhere at the moment, amazing tributes from many. All the time folks quietly got his back for near 50 years, but nobody said anything. Only now heaps of grief and praise. Even Sly said Carl was the missing piece in the jigsaw after an exhaustive search for the perfect Apollo Creed in 1975-76. Sly said Rocky and the franchise wouldn’t have worked and kicked off without him. RIP
