I did 37,000+ kms in 91 days across 4 corners of Continental US and Canada. (: it was my road trip.. I can say, more than happy to do again with this bike... thing I changed were my tires. Absolutely amazing machine and as long as you do the recommended service in the intervals. It won't be an issue at all. I only did 1 brake pad changes.. did many fire roads and gravely ones. If you want a good value on a bike you can't go wrong with it! One thing that I struggled with was to pick it up from the ground but that might be because I was weak! Amazing bike...

Thanks for your reply! Picking up the bike is always hard but really depends on your technique and weight of the bike with luggage!

I did some 8,000 km on my V85TT so far. I like it a lot better than the liquid-cooled BMW 1200 GS I owned before, which I think, although technically a very good bike, has no character at all. I currently also have an air-cooled BMW 1200 GS that I do like as much as the V85TT however. I have the high comfort seat on the Guzzi which is much better than the seat of both GS-s. Seating position on the V85TT for me is perfect (I am 6ft3 or 1.90 m tall). I can ride the whole day with no problems whatsoever. The Guzzi comes standard with heated grips (it is the small button with white dot on the left hand switch gear), although the first two settings don't do much. The only negatives that I have is the heat the engine produces above outside air-temperature of 25 deg C roasting your legs and the turbulance caused by both low and high windscreens (and even with Givi Airflow). That said I never had a bike where the screen did not produce turbulance. Average fuel economy is 24 km/liter, giving a theoretical range of 550 km.

Thanks for your reply! This will add a lot to the review! I agree with your opinion about Liquid Cooled vs Air Cooled.
@InuitWolf
@InuitWolf Год назад
How extreme is the heat once engine has reached operating temp in a stationary position at idle at varying outside temps? Curious to know as I reside in Brisbane Qld Australia. Winters are cool and comfortable making this ride ideal, I’m just concerned what the heat throw would be during our hot summers?
@alanmonteath9103
@alanmonteath9103 Год назад
I also live in Brisbane have had the bike for two years and 30000 klms I thought I would have a problem with heat but do not find it an issue really nice useable bike so far has exceeded expectations ,

@@InuitWolf oke here! But can imagine in a hot environment it could be annoying

@johnbollman7605 Год назад
@InuitWolf Heat isn't bad IF wearing my Aerostitch Roadcrafter suit. With just jeans, slow speed (lane splitting on freeway) and 80F and above is getting close to uncomfortable. But a minute or so at 70 mph fixes that entirely.

I just picked up my first Moto Guzzi, the Guardia d'Onore, a little over a week ago and I'm in love! #567/1000. I've got almost 500 miles on her now so about halfway to her first service. I'm coming from a RE Himalayan (my first bike) so this thing is like a rocketship! It's quite the machine. Salute!

I rented a V85TT on my visit to Italy and had no issues keeping up with my host on his Tenere 7 on the twisties or motorway. This was my first shaft drive and that was the first thing I noticed, loved it. Your review was very thorough and didn’t overwhelm with a lot of technical issues. You stuck to the things that most riders are concerned about.

As an Alaskan resident, my V85TT is commonly used for exploration and multi day camping. Tradition and character are the two most applicable adjectives. It’s certainly not smooth, but has sufficient power. Suspension is sufficient but clearly not going to compare to a Tuareg or DDX. Just rode the North Island 1000 on Vancouver Island; solo exploration in the wilds of west coast Canada. It’s more capable than you might think.
@droommotor
@droommotor Год назад
It is really a capable bike. I can imagine! Thanks for your reply. Would be awesome to ride in Canada and Alaska some day!
@stanprothero
@stanprothero Год назад
This is my #1 target bike EXCEPT FOR the risk involved with very much lack of service, support and some pretty severe quality issues that have cropped up over the years. What is your experience and do you feel totally confident going out on long trips as I expect you would in Alaska?
@andrewpeter6128
@andrewpeter6128 Год назад
@@stanprothero Totally comfortable. It is a simple machine; air cooled & shaft drive. As with most engines, it is important to adjust your valve clearances (which is very easy to do yourself on a Guzzi), and it is very important to ensure the fluid volumes for the final drive and transmission are accurate (sometimes they change). I've not yet removed the CC and re-mapped the fueling with UpMap....but I will. Make sure you have a good idea of what torque specs are on all the bolts and check them regularly; the rig rattles quite a bit. Would I ride it across central Asia? Probably not, but Alaska and Canada...no problem.
@John-ev3cz

@John-ev3cz Same here. Plus Dynojet Pc6/AT 300 Fuel Correction. Hp and torque are way up, at least 25%. Weight down 30 lbs. It runs so cool I can touch the cylinder heads after a ride. Fuelling is ultra smooth. Truly outstanding!

Looking to switch from my MT07 to a more 'touring capable bike ' this is on my list! I love the way they look. Had a Guzzi V11 in the past, bit of a love hate relationship but I still really like the quirky Guzzis. After testing the V85 I recognise a lot of your findings. Would be a perfect long distance tourer. I'm just not convinced that it's powerful enough. The MT has similar power figures but weighs a lot less. Might have to save up for a V100
@droommotor
@droommotor Год назад
I'm also doing a little comparison between the two! Stay tuned. You should try the V100! And don't forget the standard V100. Coming from a MT07 this should be a step up!
@twowheels90
@twowheels90 Год назад
@@droommotor I tried the standard V100 and really liked it! The only downside right now is the non-existing used marked, since it being so new. The full retail price is just a bit to much for my liking. And I'm really curious what the build quality and reliability of the new model will be! Curious to see your comparison!

I own a V-Strom 1000 from 2019. I do a lot of kms a year. Keep coming back to the v85tt. My concern is, is strong and big enough for two people with luggage for a long trip. My wife and I are Danish so both around 184 cm in height. Compared to the GS, I know it’s not as powerful.

W T F ?!?!? - they gave u THIS Guardia D'onore - simply to test-ride ?! 😨😨 Try to ride a Guzzi ( don't know about the V100..) in JAMS 🚕🚕🚌🚌🚚🚚🚕🚕🚗🚗🚐🚐 on a HOT summer day ❗❗☝☝🤣🤣 - well I do NOT recommend to do that, unless the rider suffers from an extreme, chronical freezing 🥶🥶 .... The best ADV motorcycle is the BMW GS line. I was considering getting this Guzzi, my brother had the Brevia 700cc for years, Guzzi's transverse mounted V-twin is pretty reliable. But I ended up getting a BMW f800gs, and I'm glad I did, the GS line is the best all around ADV bike
