@@robertbeckler5058 Same here. I have had no oxalate poisoning symptoms except being unable to sleep. It started when I came into menopause but that is long past & I still can't sleep. When I discovered Sally & she said it helped her sleep, I gave up chocolate, nuts, seeds, spinach, tea, my beloved black pepper, cinnamon, potatoes, curry, etc. Been on this diet about 10 months now & still can't sleep. When I found out it can take up to 10 yrs to get rid of all oxalates, I almost stopped. But I'll keep at it, though at my age I see no hope of any sleep.

You wont regret it. I am 52, diagnosed 3 years ago with fibromyalgia and gastroparesis. I was in pain every day and so stiff, horrible gut issues etc etc. Literally thought I was a goner. Went almost vegan. Big mistake. Now eat carnivore, mega dose Vit B1 (see Elliot Overton for this and do it right!) - within DAYS I started to feel better and have been told by rheumatologist that I have put all my ailments into remission. Lost some weight over last 6 months and am keeping at it, adding in yoga and weight lifting. Two years ago I was bedridden and couldn't focus my mind. Good luck my friend, you found the right place to get well. Xx

70 year old male here. Ate mostly organic foods since age of 17 and what I considered a very balanced diet. Switched to Keto at age 68 and had great results, however I had plenty of aches and pains that were increasing with age and I thought it was just unavoidable aging process. Then recently switched to Carnivore 3 weeks ago. After just 10 days all the aches and pains in my body disappeared. Improvements in skin, mental focus and more. I am amazed how good I feel and how much energy I have. I have barely started carnivore and I am excited to think about more health improvements that might be possible. Congratulations! I am 65 take nothing over or behind the counter, when I was 15 I read in Prevention Magazine that over the counter medication blocks our brain from sending a signal to heal the area and causes chronic pain, Big Pharma bought Prevention Magazine of course. Unfortunately I have Oxalate poisoning the carnivore way of eating has lowered my blood pressure, Redmond’s Real Salt has been a big help for me, it is 22% sodium the rest is minerals. I craved liver pate and ate it all in two days, now I don’t like the taste, our bodies are very clear on what they need. Later in life I found I was extremely oxalate sensitive, after eating tons of greens and almond products on the Paleo diet, and suffering from kidney stones, arthritis etc. I think kids instinctively know what they need /don't need , at least before they become addicted to sugar. I think Sally answers her own question in her website; where she mentions that the oxalates are made within the body as a waste product with no known function. But she mentions earlier on that oxalates bind to other things like heavy metals or excess calcium and puts it through the kidneys (and other tissues when its overwhelming). Kidneys are one of the ways in which blood is purified and detoxified. That's your answer, it's the body's natural detox pathway. BUT it is broken with oxalate overload. If we weren't oxalate toxic, the oxalates would carry out other toxins properly. So the take away is that oxalates are not demons, they are beneficial in moderation, but cause problems when there is an excessive amount.
@ascendtoaesthetics
@ascendtoaesthetics 2 года назад
just because we produce them endogenously, does not make it beneficial to eat them? especially knowing it's only produced as a waste product...would you drink ammonia or urea? 😅
@teril.3485
@teril.3485 2 года назад
@@ascendtoaestheticsI get your point. But maybe it's a bit more complicated than that. First, the definition of waste ought to be recognized as more of an excess resource (albeit however useless, but maybe further studies will enlighten us) than a form of garbage or poison. The problem with too much oxalate pressure is the absorption rate not the mere presence. The body is resilient and has developed ways not to absorb excess oxalates. Just because it harms a dysfunctional gut doesn't mean it will harm a healthy gut, so that doesn't mean oxalates are entirely bad, perhaps they have a purpose. As for the beneficial aspect, that was mainly an exercise in thought. As always, needs more study. Unrelated other interesting waste facts: we need a healthy level of Carbon dioxide in our blood to trigger natural breathing even though we exhale CO2 as a waste **product** - that waste is now a resource for plants. Also, people are improving their health with fecal transplants.
@mikieemiike3979
@mikieemiike3979 Год назад
Interesting. I had a similar thought except mine was more along the lines of us not producing oxalates but detoxing it if we have it in abundance. I think your comment is interesting. That would be great if it were true, which seems possible...

It was actually the green smoothies that was my tipping point... that made it obvious to me that many parts of my body were inflamed. The (at the time) newest and greatest way of being healthy ended up being the trigger to educate myself way beyond the Standard American Diet (SAD) bovine poop. After 60-plus years of taking in "their" lies I found that I needed to keep educating myself daily anew to counter the effects of the previous indoctrinating.

Addendum (a comment to my daughter): Well, beyond the current and future benefits of the information in the video that I shared with you yesterday, I am pretty sure the "snowing" effect happened to me as I got deeper into Low Carb High Fat (LCHF)... well, now being Carnivore(ish), that being nearly total zero plants of any kind and form in the nutritional diet. It baffled me to no end where all the white powder was coming from in the apartments and then this house. It was eventually everywhere, but it was mostly in my bedroom environment. And it was heavy to the point of constantly having to vacuum or dust it up off the floor and everything else. So, a couple years of that seemed to be all that my body needed for the "snow" has disappeared. Very interesting how the body works... in this weird way also.

Although an Integrative Health Coach, I am always learning...and wow, did this way of eating ever change my life. I had been Paleo for 18yrs, after finding son#2 was Celiac. But, after being introduced to Sally Norton and oxalates, within two days of ditching the greens in my morning protein blender shakes I had been drinking for a decade, the bloatedness disappeared. I binge watched every interview I could find with Sally Norton the summer of 2019. Now 2 1/2 yrs later, at 67, I would never ever go back to all those high oxalate foods I thought were so healthy. Absolutely life changing. The best thing anyone could do to promote youthful, healthy aging. :)

This makes so much sense. I prepped for a bodybuilding show back in 2013 and my diet consisted of a decent amount of sweet potatoes and almonds every day! About 2 months into prep, I was getting extreme stomach cramps that would have me on the floor for hours. I thought it was the protein powders I was using, but with my shake, my almonds were always on the side of that meal.

BUt day to day mainly consists of rump steaks for dinner, as much as i can eat or i add bacon and cheese to fill me up if its a smaller piece, then through the day i have 2 small tins of salmon or some cooked up meat mince (pork, veil, chicken, lamb, beef). 2 meals a day, super simple, I throw in pork and lamb and chicken some nights when i get sick of the rump aswell :)

Fascinating. I'm carnivore now for a week and ordered my first electrolytes because the leg cramps are waking me up at night. But I'm forging through. I dropped a kidney stone a few years ago and that's how I discovered oxalate poisoning. I did keto for years and lived on spinach, almond flour and almond milk, etc. Now, I have back and body aches. I'm not going to give up and will suffer through the reappearance of hot flashes, leg cramps, etc. The weird thing is my stools are healthier than ever, and my strength training loves the higher protein and fats. Also, my appetite is so low. I usually am dreaming about my next meal soon after the last. I forget to eat and have done OMAD on accident. I have not been a drinker, smoker, or sugar addict ever in my life, so watching this about oxalate poisoning explains a lot. Thx so much for this!♥️👍

Gauss meter--measures the electromagnetic field in your environment--home, office and travel. Can be purchased online. Mine was about $40 a few years ago. You will learn that the EMFs from the microwave can pass through the human body--just have someone stand behind you with the meter as you face the operating microwave. Another sad fact is that most people will keep their spices and oils next to the microwave--EMFs pass through the cabinetry (even oak) and destroy the vitality of foods. Electric blankets are another serious culprit. Check electric razors, too! The cockpit of airplanes are wrapped to protect the pilots; but the stewards/stewardesses have a short life span often caused by EMF-induced cancers. Make sure that where you sit in an office doesn't place your brain and spine close to a wall filled with wires carrying a high EMF. As you test your environment, remember that wool greatly reduces EMF toxin. Those with extreme sensitivities will place wool fabric over electrical plates. Best to you and yours!

At age 76, I have done seven years without eating any red meat at all, several years of being vegan and nearly three years of daily juicing ... I must have had a ton of vegetables and fruits and so much work to do all that juicing... yet at the end of it all I was sicker than ever in my life... I did a 21 day water fast and then I discovered Kelly Hogan and Amber O'Hearn and started to eat mostly animal products... it has been three years now but I never managed to go 100% Carnivore... it was always about 95% and then a few carbs sprinkled in... I have a disintegrated basal joint that is swollen and painful all the time... so I am determined to get to that 100% Carnivore and so your videos are really helping me so much...

I use my acacia plates and my favorite fork w/ cherry blossom design on it, and drinking from nice glassware (or my favorite mugs) is so important to me. My family thinks I'm crazy lol. But not only are you satisfying your hunger, you're satisfying your other senses as well. And it gives meals sort of a "ritual" feeling, like it's a sacred time of the day to nourish yourself & be grateful. (Also.. I'd like to start by saying thank you very much. You made a video about common problems when switching to carnivore diet when I was considering it, oxalate one really made me look into THAT one. Ever since I learned about oxalates I switched to carnivore immediately. I have arthritis, or so they say, but I think it's oxalates at the heart of it. I did eat several bad offenders before (almond, spinach mostly, but with peanuts and chocolate as well). I was really looking for a diet that would help with arthritis symptoms since I realized a while ago that doctors don't really know what really causes arthritis and inflammation so I should do my best to look for resources for what I could find to help me myself. And of course I hated the thought of eating several pills every day and putting extra pressure on my liver for all eternity so when doctor wanted me to add another pill with severe possible side-effects, I rather doubled down on my effort for looking different way. Here I am, two weeks into carnivore and definitely I have somewhat muddy urine, symptoms otherwise are mostly same as ever, some parts of me feel better but few feels quite bad. But at this point this will take time anyway, I am just lucky I was always eating everything and did not mostly like vegetables much, but these few years I had eaten a lot of keto-bread with almond and spinach (sigh) to offend my body. Time will tell how things go, I'll stay on pure carnivore diet unless I start to feel too bad. If that happens I have a bit of dark chocolate to smooth things over. And not giving up black pepper just quite yet... :) EDIT: A fix in the timeline of things.

She’s lived a very health food-alt-vegetarian focused lifestyle thinking of course that she was doing the right thing and suddenly out of nowhere had a very painful kidney stones at the young age of 32 = sure enough she’s been super heavy on things such as spinach . Luckily shes been able to figure it out now before before its too late :). For this whole carnivore movement Id recommend people remain aware that the benefit of incorporating “some” fresh veggies is that they have tons of living enzymes which aid in digestion and breakdown of fats and dense proteins which aid in effecient delivery and usage of nutrients . Learning to ask and listen to the body is an amazing tool if one can develope the patience -tough though in these modern times where TIME BASED PRESSURE AND STRESS PLAY A HUGE ROLE in alot of the maladies suffered by the modern citizen -GREAT EPISODE !!

I agree wholeheartedly. I love the spirit of what you express (!), and your meaning is quite clear. However, I think your post has a "typo" (typographical error) in it. You undoubtedly meant: "factors". || "factions" has quite a different meaning, and is even mentioned in the Bible as an undesirable thing (in Gal. 5 : 20 , as a thing which can be different from the "Fruits of the Spirit", which are then listed a little bit later, in Gal. 5 : 22 - 26). I say all this mainly because I love talking about the Fruits of the Spirit. And I'm into words. Thus, this is just mainly a matter of word trivia, which I thought you might find of interest! BTW, you are well ahead of me in already knowing about Sally Norton. I am only just now discovering her!. (much to learn, therefore) Much more to learn, from many teachers, about carnivore. I used to think that raw plant foods (juicing, etc.) was it! Hoping I don't have to give up wheat grass shots, entirely, but will go where the evidence leads me.

That book, Diet For A Small Planet, I believe is responsible for all of my dad's health issues. He still to this day believes the gibberish he read in that book. He used to eat huge bowls of uncooked rolled oats with skim milk for breakfast every day, and then wonder why he had constant tooth problems and cavities. Oats are high in phytic acid (all grains are, but oats especially) which bind to minerals in the body and then get expelled. Eventually the body has no choice but to steal calcium from its own teeth in order to keep other vital processes going. The book, as far as I was able to read it before throwing it across the room, recommends planting the entire arable surface of the Earth with monocrops like oats, soy, wheat, and corn, on the (extremely outdated and disproven) theory that that is A) sustainable, and B) the only way we can hope feed the population. Now we know that regenerative farming, which rebuilds depleted soils naturally, and REQUIRES grazing ruminants, is much more viable than Monsanto soybeans as far as the eye can see. Sorry for the rant, but he STILL has a copy of the book in his kitchen! 😟

I've been increasing meat in my diet for a year and a half. I am doing a 30 day meat only challenge now. I have been researching a bunch. I'm a bit disillusioned while listening to Sally say that she is dumping oxalates 8 years later, reminds me of vegans that are still 'detoxing'. I want to feel healthy and energized all the time. Sometimes I think when I attempt to be healthy it leads to me feeling shittier. LIke when I don't care about diet at all I generally have good energy levels and every once and awhile get a stomach ache if I over eat some processed foods. But when I am trying to be strict such as carnivore I get headaches, brain fog, lethargy. I am going to keep to only meat for at least a month then see how I am feeling. But if I am going to be dumping oxalates for years is sorta makes me feel like maybe its not oxalates and rather something is lacking from the diet. I believed raw alkaline veganism or fruitarian was the ideal diet for so long then came across contradicting information. Diet is so confusing.

I can really sympathize with your comment. I’m often left feeling this way also. My third and fourth day of carnivore were terrible! I had an awful headache and haven’t felt overly energetic. I’m on 2 weeks now. Wanting to see how I feel a month or two in.

I totally get what you're saying but it is true that our bodies need to dump the bad stuff and have time to heal. Just like if you're coming off alcohol or drugs, you'll feel worse before you feel better. And also like with alcohol and drugs, it's easy to think you feel fine and not realized the damage being done until it's done a lot. With that being said, though, even on my worst days of carnivore I felt better than when I was vegan. I could tell I was stronger and that my body was healing. I started being more productive, even when I felt crappy. There were signs that I was moving in the right direction, unlike with veganism where I felt worse and worse and kept trying crazier things out of desperation and got to a point where I literally couldn't do anything. I guess my point is to check with yourself and if you truly only feel worse with no benefits on carnivore, then back off of it - maybe you need to go slower, maybe it's not the right thing for you. Use as much intuition and introspection as you can to see what is best for you and be open to that shifting over time as your body heals. Make sure you are really consuming a lot of electrolytes and water, that you are eating enough, and getting a ton of fat. That made a HUGE difference for me. Oxalate dumping for years is daunting and depressing, but I can see how for me, even though that will likely be true of my situation, I will have a greatly increased quality of life during that time. I've been sick for an extremely long time, almost my whole life, so it feels intuitive to me that it might take me many years to heal, especially after the damage I did with anorexia and a fear of fat starting in my tweens, and then getting into veganism for over a decade. But if you're body isn't saying "yes!" then maybe you have a different path, and that's totally ok!

I have no desire to be on a carnivore diet. However a low oxalate diet has improved my health a great deal. I intend to continue on the diet. Inflammation and histamine driven allergies have stopped. Thankyou Dr Sally, I am enjoying your book.

This is amazing, i‘m only two weeks on a carnivore lifestyle. Diagnosed with mcas been on a low histamine diet for years not experiencing improvement, turns out i replaced high histamine food in my diet with high oxalate veggies and fruits. Always wondering why my mcas flares didn‘t went down, my doctors hesitated i strictly followed a low histamine diet. Now i know for better, thank you so much for teaching the truth!

When she brought up cloudy urine, I screamed. I often had cloudy urine on keto. I actually had my doctors test it because I thought i was peeing out excess fat or something and was worried I had an absorption problem, but it came back negative for that. They never figured out what it was. So interesting.

I’m in so much pain from oxalate dumping from my eyes. It’s been going on for over 7 months since starting carnivore. I poisoned myself with spinach and almonds, eating them for years, thinking it was healthy, but now I’m suffering badly as it’s pouring out of my eyes 24/7. Nothing will stop it or slow it down. Not tea, not lemon juice, not anything. I tried eating high oxalate foods again, but it didn’t stop the eye symptoms. The stuff is all over my glasses, on my skin, in my eyes. My eyes are constantly inflamed, stinging and itching. I can no longer drive or handle light. I have to take pain medication every day to get some relief. I’m spending my days laying on the couch with my eyes closed listening to audiobooks. OMG! When will this end? Carnivore has helped in so many other ways, and has probably saved my life. But this detoxification process is hard to tolerate.

The crystal crustiness around the eyes is an interesting one. I used to take that as normal to find when I woke up in the morning. But, since eliminating most plant foods, that no longer happens.

I thank God daily I found you and definitely Sally . After first stage stomach cancer with my sonbwhipping me off for diagnosis . My wonderful vegan diet was cast aside. I began a journey sleep deprived, major weakness and brain fog. Stressed to the hilt and then diagnosed cancer clear no oxygen said from my horror smoking habit and marjuana daily to sleep . I discovered my intestine had two ulcers , a hernia, no focus whatsoever, ambition gone, depression suicidal thoughts daily, anxiety off the charts, and every narcissistic individual honing in and taking advantage of me. I found you guys at first I thought these people pushing their produce, I started to remember what Grandfather and father said . Eat your fat and steak it's good for you Both diceased would to tell they were right . What an awful journey but thank God for the illness I also have had hashimotos and rhematoid arthritis riddled. Now on the diet for over 30 days exhausted at first now finding my organs arr coping much better not super muddled in brain Can now organise everything satisfactory and have now seen clearly how others ridden wild over me advantageously Now I am fighting back A relief .THANK YOU YOU HAVE SAVED MY LIFE LITERALLY. GOD BLESS WITH YOUR MOVEMENT I HOPE IN THE NEXT YEAR NEVER TO SEE ANOTHER WESK VEGAN UNDER NORISHED ANYWHERE PUSHING THEIR WARES NAIVELY.

Fully carnivore for a long time. Oxalate dumping began with my 1st kidney stone at age 72. Terrible pain. 4mm stone in kidney. Chance Piedra saving me, plus lemon juice and apple cider vinegar. Not sure if stone has passed. Will find out next week. Listen to Sally, don't stop all oxalate foods all at once. I'm back to black tea to help me out. Love my meat, butter and eggs!

Bella and Sally thank you. After studying Dave Asprey then Dr Gundry i came across Sally's work on Oxalates and I really realise how much harm I've done over the years trying to eat super healthy. I was ahead of my friends when it came to understanding the importance of health from our diet but I was duped by Diet for a Small Planet and also by a similar book called Raw Energy years later. I have decided to let go of all limiting beliefs and just look at studies, clinical trials and empirical truth from testing on myself and learning from others' journeys. I am throwing out all pre conceptions and completely starting from scratch.

The education and information or really, misinformation regarding what is healthy eating is NOT by accident, it is intentional. An unhealthy population being constantly sick, unmotivated, with brain fog, requiring constant doctor's appointments and medical treatments is very financially lucrative for the medical complex !! It is imperative that people take care of their own health !

At 9 years old I was diagnosed with JA. I really think my crappy childhood diet is what it was caused by really. I’m 55 now and have been keto for over 7 years. I lost weight and got of meds, however I then hurt my hip and haven’t been the same since. It always hurts and feels inflamed. I tried so hard to do carnivore, but I cook for my 88 year old mother, my husband and two young adults. So I cook for my family, and feel it my job so don’t get in an uproar over that. But I so want to focus on my health and lower my inflammation to get back on track. I want support but feel I need more exact support than SBA group. This has been a very interesting talk to listen to. Editing to say: also I had covid in August and have felt even more inflamed since then, even more joint pain.

Hi. Do you take any vitamins and minerals? Have you tried chiropractor? If you hurt your hip you might be walking odd and don't even know, that will put you out of whack. So if you get back inline it would also help. I'm not a doctor. But hurt myself at one time and didn't want surgery. I'm trying do do more for my diet now. Although Thanksgiving was not good. But back at it. Best of luck to you.

It’s interesting, covid what made me go keto. I had horrible pain from my waste down to both of my legs when I had covid. Didn’t eat anything and just had fluids, made sure had no starch or any type of sugar at all. I honestly feel that what helped me to recover.

Just cook animal foods for the whole family. If other family members complain, tell them they are free to cook whatever they want. It's your job to provide nutritious sustenance for loved ones who are dependent on you. Animal foods provide nutritious sustenance, whereas plant foods do not.

Never had a kidney stone for my entire life until I ended up in a hotel for training for work that lasted 4 months.
