in AST "defence" they use to be a shield healer as well in HW so I'm not surprised with all the DEF buffs. I've been AST main since HW and I loooove that it's going back to it's HW roots

I'm not sure about Astro, cus other healers got something neat without getting a complete rework. And limitations to card drawing timers + fusing with Sects is... I dunno, kinda disappointing :т (still mad at yet another complete rework and time wasting on learning the new system when other healers just go and heal) And Oracle debuff would be so damn cool! Kinda like Assise but smol shield instead of healing. P. S. SCH's Seraphism form looks SO DAMN COOL! I'm now thinking about making it my new main.... *watches her yellow bar piercing the fabric of reality*
4:46 I don't know if I'm crazy or not but I think Blue Mage's Off-guard and Peculiar Lights spells are oGCD's with a cast time and I can't really find mention of this anywhere Then again I am a casual Blue Mage so I'm probably not looking hard enough

imo i think that addition will homogenize the healer roster even more if sch have ogcd shield 🤔so i do think that's a good thing that they didn't get that (in term of job identity tho, not sure how that will effect the raiding side of thing)
isn't sage's eudaimonia (the additional effect of philosophia) just aoe kardia? it says "landing spells" but not specifically "healing spells" (like synastry) or "magic attack" (like kardia)... so it's more like aoe kardia *combined with* mini plenary indulgence?

It stills leaves a sour taste of thinking that they are making the pure healers more shieldy, and the shield healers more pure, but, if it is to standarize a bit until the heightening of the classes fantasies in 8.0 i can patiently wait
5:25 if it activates on all spells then it's not just GCD heals but also GCD damage. You can use that and continue doing damage and you'll effectively have kardia on everyone.
I apologize for my wording there. I forgot to mention that it can be proc by both offensive and healing gcd, but my point there, was that it can be used to boost your gcd healing like those 2 skills mentioned 😥
Question since you've been hands on with it. How to Seraphism feel in regards to the vibe of Scholar's kit? cause my gut keeps telling me its a departure from how it normally feels to play.
Sorry, i'm not a part of the media tour, so I can't answer you about that😥 but if i have to guess, seraphism would make you feel like sage for 20 secs.
will definitely main SCH and WHM ive always been a SCH main at heart and i do feel like yoshi P should work on the job identity for the classes and thats something i look forward to.

To be fair, shield healers also have their share of regen abilities (which is supposed to be a major part of the "pure healer" healing identity) so getting limited AoE shielding on WHM doesn't bother me too much :)
I don't feel like you could simplify it any more than "literally every card does the exact same effect." taking out the randomness and giving it some personality again is exactly what I had in mind
The only "simplification" was removing RNG. They had already simplified it before by removing extra card actions and making all cards effectively identical
I have questions on these AST changes: 1. MP regen from what the skill reads, we've kept draw's restore 5% MP, but that's now on a 1 minute cooldown instead of 30 and doesn't look like it applies to the cards themselves. Also, we've lost Astrodyne's guaranteed MP regen. I mean I know AST's MP regen was ridiculous before since I haven't had to use lucid dreaming since unlocking Astrodyne, but this feels like it will hurt, and also ASTs were known for their ridiculous MP regen so that's going to hurt our rep on top of losing most of our DPS contribution in the form of 3 card burst windows. 2.DMG I always thought that AST's pitifully low potency numbers was due to the fact that we had multiple cards that can buff allies and so while our team dmg contribution is high, our personal dmg has to be set low to offset that, which made sense. But now that they've taken away a lot of our team dmg potential, namely 2 of our opening burst window buff cards, 10% dmg self buff on Astrodyne, and 10% spell speed up, what does this mean for our own personal dmg? I see that they've buffed Lord of crowns to a 400 potency from 250, and that they've given us that new DMG skill Oracle with 600, but is that enough? WHM already has insane dmg numbers, and now that they've been given glare IV, and SCHs have their new DOT that equates to 700 potency, and SGEs get what is basically a better version of Oracle anyways, it feels like ASTs are falling behind even more in terms of damage. Like, we're still the only healers who can "buff" allies, but with how gutted it is compared to before, how confidently can we say that the new potency numbers are able to make up for it? Or is it, and I am coping really hard right now, that because DPS roles are getting new dmg skills, the increase in DPS classes overall damage warrants decreasing AST's buffs because otherwise it'd be too strong? 3. reputation Not going to lie, i feel like our reputation as the buffing healer is gutted. Like what is there now that makes ASTs unique and marketable to players? What will incentivize players to pick up AST? I played AST cus I was like "OOH ITS HARD AND ITS THE ONLY HEALER TO BUFF ALLIES" and also cus Welkin set is the greatest AST glamour of all time( fight me). But now they've simplified the playstyle and nerfed the buffs, what is there in the kit that will make players go "oooh that sounds fun" beyond skill FXs and sexy hats.
I can't really say that much on point 1 and 2 since the number and optimizing is not my strong suit. But for point 3, I do feel too that the uniqueness of AST on the buffing side of thing is being taken out with this changes. I feel you because I used to play SMN in SHB and after EW I haven't really touch it that much because like you said that it kinda lost its charm of being a difficult job to play. 😭 P.S. sexy wizard hat is the only way.
So SGE can hold that 30secs AoE DoT all the time but SCH can only do a AoE DoT for 15 seconds every 120 secs? That fucking sucks x.x even if it has more potency, it's just dumb af. I love SCH, I hope they do something better for it in 8.0 :')
They kinda messed healers up really badly. A weak af dot, cause really short, for a freaking 2min cooldown, that you don‘t even wanna use for AoE cause you will waste your crit buff? Adds up to what? 700 potency? Over 2min sages new dot adds up to 1600. Good thinking and that’s really just the surface. !! Surprise new AoE skill appears and it goes tooooo.. drumroooll, Sage. Cause they really need even more damage and AoE options. They only had more than anyone else already. Seraphim is a freaking three minute cooldown. Instacasts is what Sage gets all the time, healing instead of barrier can Sage do all the time, so can’t be that, right, but ahh, with 40 higher potency! 40! Yeah, gotcha, 40 heal potency needs to have at least 3min cd, everyone knows that………. What other spell has that long of a cooldown? Ohh.. benediction, which is like uhhh Infinite potency, basically the same, yeah. I was slightly hopeful after looking very closely at the trailer, too. Closely, cause the slides were just a f u to Scholar. Then the spell tooltips were released, and no, they meant exactly what the slides already implied. Someone there must have an actual grudge against Scholars for hitting them with a dot that u can‘t really use effectively in dungeons, where AoE matters most.. Please excuse the dripping irony, I just really can’t see how this makes any sense. Can anyone explain what the hell Square thought here?
I understand your frustration, but please keep in mind that this build is not final and anything on here can be changed (although not much....) I hope that gameplay-wise they will feel better than what the tooltips show TvT
