really appreciate your time on this. this all makes sense to me. I like how you broke it down to specific levels with different styles of target panic.

I guarantee that a huge part of TP is the shooter being out of archery shooting shape. No one ever talks about this because the people that talk about curing it aRE in shape. Lower the draw weight. Remove or cover the scope. Get 10 feet from a target that is level with your bow at full draw. Knowing you can't miss at this distance you can fully concentrate on the release and execution. Draw and focus on the shot techni only. Put your mind in the release use mode. Think your way through it. You are to not even think of where the arrow is going. Absorb the process and the reaction of of your body to the actions of the bow. Your body and brain will learn it's ok. Your body will eventually not even recognize any of it. Your mind should be only on shot execution.

Remi Warren was recently on Cam Hanes podcast and he was talking about shooting with his mouth using the mouth tab. Cam asked him if it was possible to punch the trigger shooting like that. LOL

At age 8, my daughter shot her first bow (recurve) at a scout activity and was hooked. I've been teaching her archery ever since (she's 10 now). She has target panic and this will be a great exercise to help her with that. It's actually very similar to what I tell her every time we go shooting, "Do the exact same thing every time." I tell her to stand the same, draw the same, anchor the same, aim the same, loose the same. I tell her that if she messes something up, don't shoot, reset to one and start over. Muscle memory and form consistency are key. When you can consistently repeat the proper movements, then your grouping will be consistent and you only need to make a minor aiming adjustment to move that grouping anywhere you need.

I recently watched your video on bare shaft tuning from a couple of years ago and had a couple of questions on that line instead of Target Panic. I have a 2022 Hoyt Ventum 30 set at 26.5 inches and 65#. It has a Hanskea Epsilon rest. I have it tuned and set up fairly well. I have been shooting Easton 6.5 match grade at 400 spine 125 grain tip 23 grain insert and 3 AEE Max Stealth vanes. The arrows were cut at 27". I had started out with the bow at 50- 55# and worked up to the 65 over a couple of months of practice. I thought that I might be getting a bit under spined so ordered 340 spine but same everything else and have some cut 26" started some at 27 " again. I cut two to 26" and two to 27" and fletched one of each. Left the others bare shaft. I worked them in using the rest like in the first part of the video before mentioning cutting to achieve the perfect arrow. They all seem to be grouping relatively close at 30 yards. The 26" bare and fletched are touching as are the 27"arrows. The 27 group is left of the aiming point 2" and 2" low. The 26" group are .5" right and 1" low. I had thought that the 27" should be right and the 26 left because of the rule of spine, stiff going left and weak right....and not touching given what you are doing. This was just one of many rounds and usually they were all nearly touching but a bit low and a bit right (2")of the aim point. Do you think either arrow length will work with broadheads? Thanks

There is no real way to beat target panic says joel turner. I moved to a stan shootoff TL thumb button 2 years ago. I 1st started blank bailing. Then i went to ten yards and practice shooting a clean break. After a month i felt comfortable then at my archery club i would practice around alot of people and that helped me get passed my nerves. When i hunt i still get buck fever but i can control myself to make a clean break on the animal. Just my 2 cents

Excellent advice ! After 45 years of shooting all my Bows with my fingers, I had to finally convert to a release , last year, because of issues with my hands. This info. has helped me tremendously to reduce the temptation of punching the trigger. I also use another training method, of closing my eyes, and concentrate on feeling the shot go off. Thanks for helping an "Old Dog, Learn some new tricks"

The aiming drill and working up to holding for 15 seconds without shooting, and the concept behind it makes sense; however, it seems as it would be counterintuitive to remove your sight as explained in the beginning.

The idea is to train your mind not hitting the x at this point. Work on one thing at a time

Hey look at me Kellen, commenting on one of your vids that's not 4 years old, haha. :) I was finishing up watching something else and saw this in the 'suggested' thumbnails so here i am. I am one of those who have that nasty habit of punching the trigger...not that unusual i suppose given my newness and thus novice level in archery. So this is excellent! I'm going to put your system into use and fix this flaw, thanks man for another super helpful video.

Great video. Here's an idea for you since you asked. Would be incredible to address the transition from not being able to shoot an arrow w/o TP to doing holds as you described then actually shooting some arrows close. This is my worse case of TP. I couldn't even pull the bow back to draw. Even let go of the release but had a lanyard. Got to being able to do holds every day for over a month and each time I try to shoot arrows, after 3 or 4 have to punch the shot and this is with being able to hold in the center. Once I start the pull through is when the TP starts. I'm very familiar with the Joel Turner method but need to actually shoot arrows. Thanks!!

I find that letting down after not pulling the trigger kills my shoulder, (old guy) so I end up having a target panic just to get rid of the arrow as soon as it’s close

Could be a lot of things but most likely you need a little longer draw length

Just bought a bowtech core ss. 60 lbs set at mid fifties 27.5” draw length. Sometimes after I pull it back it wants to take off or jump forward. What should I do?
@InsideOutPrecision
@InsideOutPrecision Месяц назад
You should always pull into the back wall a little at full draw. It will help steady you up and prevent you creeping forward

Any recommendations on using a wrist release and pulling through the shot? Seems like the preload on your trigger is important Todays leather buckle straps don’t have much give when you are pulling through the shot

Just wondering why 3 weeks? Then the long process to move ba k to 20 yards
@InsideOutPrecision
@InsideOutPrecision 2 месяца назад
Because you aren’t going to break months or years of a bad habit and from a new good habit in a few days. 3 weeks is in the short side if I’m being honest
@InsideOutPrecision
@InsideOutPrecision 2 месяца назад
Because you aren’t going to break a bad habit that’s engrained in your muscles memory in a few days. You have to first break the bad habit, then commit the new good habit to muscle memory. That takes on average about 2,000 repetitions.
