I went into this game expecting fallout 3, 4, ES morrowind, oblivion, and Skyrim all mashed together, sorta modernized, in space. It’s just about exactly what we got and for the first time in years when I can’t play, I think about the game and am excited to play some more. I can’t stop playing this unoptimized 30 fps 1080p low game.
Because it’s simply a good game, not the equivalent to a pump and dump like most modern games. I’m just over 3 whole days in and have loved every minute. It’s an experience rather than a fun waste of time… it is that too though😀👍
Same here. Im stuck with my i5 2500K 4.4Ghz and GTX 1060 6GB for now but that wont stop me from enjoying the game even at Low settings and 30fps. Im hoping for some more performance gains with updates and mods in the future though.
I didnt know about the loading screens and screenshots!!! Wow... thank you!!! Hell yes mods need to make landing cinematic a must. I dont want to skip that. And solar system planet to planet travel needs to be in. Please make this possible. A plea to the modding community.
You nailed it! I remember playing Morrowind freshman year of college and being blown away. Same with Skyrim. Now, again I have that feeling with Starfield. I absolutely love it!
Very well put. I'm enjoying it immensely and i think alot of it is down to having the same expectations you did coming from someone who sunk far far too many hours into previous Bethesda games.
Anyone that has played Bethesda games since Morrowind or even older know it's the community that fixes and adds what the devs don't. At this point Todd probably just sees it as volunteer devs to clean up after them. I feel this is why they didn't really want to hype the game up too much before launch. They wanted to keep everyone's expectations relatively low or moderate.
Dead Rising for the Xbox 360 would take the pictures you took and would show them on the loading screen as well... I have always thought this was a cool dynamic way of changing a loading screen. They could have also done what Resident Evil did just hide the loading screen behind an animation, but I like seeing my personal flair added.
Why on earth they didn’t add that planet to planet travel at the end in the vanilla game baffles me. Just add a little effects to show you’re warping and you’re good.
I've been really enjoying it as my offline alone time type of game. I will admit the spoiling of star citizens no loading screens and flight system was something to try forget at the start, but im a good 14hours in and I am really enjoying myself!
I had 0 expectations going in. I actually was annoyed that we got this instead of TES6. As a result, I was blown away. I’ve enjoyed almost every minute.
It's a great game , and just wait till they release the creation kit . That said I've had several quests completely go Haywire . And I often find myself having to use an axe because I've run out of bullets . If that bothered me enough , I would just console myself a couple million of my favourite rounds .
Great review. Maybe they could have handled space traveling like Mass Effect where you can fly inside a system and give you a bit of the feeling flying a space ship. But it is ok as it is, too.
I'm ~50 and loved their games since Morrowind, I'm talking 1000's of hours played...I'm just not feeling this one. The main/faction quests are decent enough, if mechanically mostly uninspired...everything else is waiting to be filled out IMO. The thing I loved about the other games is that I decide who I want to be...and walk in a random direction...there was always an abundance of weird/interesting/quirky things to see and do...this game has none of that old charm...and the new stuff (building/flying a ship) is not only mostly pointless, but also not much better than a final year CS or Game dev project. I suspect, over the coming years, a myriad of interesting locations and engaging events will be added (by mods)...hopefully, the space bit will be replaced...and each of the different parts of the game will begin to form a greater whole...as it stands right now, there's a few engaging stories and a mess of game systems that don't work well together. Please don't misunderstand - it's great that people love the game...I just am confused as to why...the whole *point* of their games was the world beyond the main story...whereas this is the opposite...people are saying "perhaps the detractors don't understand bethesda games"...yet this is the least bethesda of Bethesda games...the basic chemistry has been forgotten. Anyway - I'm looking forward to watching the framework evolve...and am wondering if that wasn't the point all along, in leu of...well, much game.
Star Citizen is the game that will dwarf everything else in comparison, once it’s done. But that will take some time, since it hasn’t really been done since ages ago.
It doesn't get to Fallout level of gameplay and discovery. It's bland and desperately in need of something, mods, DLC. And no it's not okay for games to live in the past as far as graphics and game-design not when technology and the tools are there to make something better.
