thanks for the awesome review! Would you be able to use the silent circuit with replacement pickups? Also, can you split the coil on the humbucker? thanks
I am looking at either a telecaster ( 2pups or 3pups -nashville deluxe ) and or the Music Man Cutlas. Two different animals for sure....... since you have both.... What are your thoughts. Multiple genre's; rock, blues, jazz music for sure. thanks. rhythm and lead work and everything in between.
The Telecaster is arguably the most versatile guitar you can get... It's been played on pretty much every genre out there, so you can't go wrong. The HSS Cutlass on the other hand, I would say is a session musicians Swiss army knife... It's like a chameleon and can play anything you want with it. Whereas the Tele kind of puts it's own sound onto what you are playing.... I haven't explained that very well but I hope you get what I'm saying!
Hey man, love your videos. How much did this cost in 2017? Thinking of picking one up second hand but can only find the price for the more expensive 2018 model. Dont wanna shell out more than I have to
Great video,, I've been debating on the Stealth Black version or this Charcoal color, I don't like the white pickup covers or the pickgaurd too much so might change that. I'm curious what sort of issues do you have when using pedals with this guitar? (with the silent circuit/buffer in it) Thanks...
Hey man! I’d definitely recommend one of these. The circuit plays nicely with pedals however it is very easy to remove if you run into problems with fuzz pedals. I took mine out just for demos so people were hearing the pedal without a buffer in front.
Dipswitch Demos: have you done any mods to the nut having 0.11 to 0.54 strings? I really like the guitar, I don't play Strats but I need one and I'm thinking of taking the Cutlass Hss. Thank you.
I haven’t had to change the nut at all, they fit in fine. I would definitely recommend a Cutlass. I was not a Strat guy also before playing this guitar, it’s so ergonomic and doesn’t feel as big and bulky as Strats often can.
I haven't tried a maple fretboard Cutlass... But generally I find maple boards to sound a feel a bit snappier and brighter. Whereas rosewood tends to be rounder and softer. I usually go for rosewood
Dipswitch Demos so the guitar dies when the battery is all used up? Even during a show? Yikes!!! I’m kind of used to the noise from single coils so I might do what you did and have it replaced.
Very nice video man. You touched on everything I was unclear on about this guitar. Just a quick one, since you moved to 11 gauge strings, did you have to have the nut altered? If you had the holes widened, was the compensated nature of the nut preserved that way? Cheers
I’ve not had to changed the nut at all for the thicker strings to be honest! I was worried about it but it’s absolutely fine, the strings fit in snug but still enough room so they don’t get stuck.
@@JacksonBrooksby Thanks so much for the response man. You would've probably noticed a negative change if you were an abuser of tremolo cause my presumption is that the higher gauge strings would probably get stuck much more in the nut and therefore go out of tune. But I might be wrong. Regarding the tremolo, have you ever tried the floating trem setup a-la Jeff Beck/Carl Verheyen? Always wondered about that on MM guitars, usually when people do demos of MM guitars they have the trem in factory setup or they do not touch the trem at all.
@@JacksonBrooksby You ought to try a floating tremolo on the JP Majesty models, they work very well and the guitar maintains its tuning because of the Schaller locking tuners.
It’s just like a normal two point strat bridge so you can tighten the springs and block it off so the bridge doesn’t move. If defo recommend the Cutlass, although those two guitar look like completely different beasts.
Indeed a classy guitar - originals designed by Leo himself if im not mistaken ! btw If you ever swap out single coils, i can highly recommend Radioshop Chris Buck ID pups - upgraded my MJT strat, bit pricey but shockingly awesome sweet tone/dynamics - great vid 👍
Leo knew what he was doing. Ah good to know! I’ve actually looked at those myself... I will definitely consider them. Maybe I’ll shoot them an email some time 👌🏼 thanks Tim
I love the Armarda but it always slips my mind! It looks amazing and has similar specs to a LP but from what I heard doesn’t feel or play anything like a LP. I bet it kicks ass
