That has got to be the best demo of the five-way selector I've ever seen. The seamless cuts are perfect as well as the riff chosen really highlights the tonal variations.
Some tasteful playing and a really nice review Cooper! I've had my RS HSS Cutlass (in stealth black!) for a couple of weeks now and I can say without a DOUBT that the often mentioned "honeymoon period" will be permanent (!) A lovely sounding guitar, can get rude, quacks, go vintage, modern, all of it. And just like my original EBMM EVH (from way back in 1994) it's another neck to die for that, practically plays itself. Undoubtedly there are other great electric guitar builders/companies (Suhr, PRS, Fender's custom shop and so on) for me however, EBMM's are IT, mostly because of those lusciously feeling/playing necks. Small (?) YES, that fit my hand to a "T", and that's a GOOD thing!
I'm happy to think that with the humbucker in the bridge (handling heavy harmonics) and the quality of the tremolo you showed in the SSS video that I could really get my occasional Eddie-style divebombs with this guitar and still have so much more in the total pallet to go along with it...in a single guitar. Always the best demos on RU-vid. You helped me know and love EBMM. I'll be getting either an SSS or HSS, but I still could use more listening on the tonal possibilities of position 2, bridge/middle. Lots of my work hinges on the clean tones in 2, from country, to disco-scratch, to thinner CCM-gospel. Any chance you could focus a demo there?

Great video, I love EBMM guitars. I have the all rosewood axis super sport with humbuckers and a 1995 axis sport with P-90's both are killer guitars. This will be my next purchase. I have an American strat and the Ibanez prestige Talman S style guitar and they don't get played nearly as much the EBMM's especially the strat as the Ibanez Talman Prestige is what a strat should be and plays like a dream, Fender really needs to step it up. Cant wait to order this, my other guitars will be getting very lonely in their cases.
I just got the coral red with maple neck new and hard case for $999. It was a closeout guitar. It was $1649 originally. I am really liking it so far. I wasn't a fan of the color but it's cool. It sounds great. I just got it today. I think I want to change the strings to 10s though.
Ron Harding they don’t have any in stock anymore 🥺 I looked for one before but only found used ones on Sam ash. I ended up buying one from reverb for 1095 but it was used in sss configuration. the only place that sells them new is guitarcenter. my favorite color is red but the white one is also very nice looking. do you think I can get it from them for $1000 😯
Cooper, dig your videos, very informative. Been trying to decide between this in HSS or SSS. I have mostly HH and HSH guitars and a Nashville Tele which I find myself not using the bridge position much. Seems like the HSS would be more versatile. I do like having the option of having a good mix of lead and full rhythm sounds. I saw your SSS video as well, after having both, which do you prefer? And is it more a matter of application? Both guitars sound fantastic.
Excellent Demo man! I just played a Stingray a few days ago and loved the neck shape as well! Would you say the Cutlass neck is pretty similar to the Stingray neck in shape and size, or are there some pronounced differences? If you've gotten the chance to play both of course :).
Cutlass is boss. And to those who think fender is the only way... Just remember that this thing is originally a fender from origin. Leo made the saber and the cutlass is just that but with modern feats added. It's still a fender basically. This aint no abomination like John Mayers silver sky lol.
@@coopercarter trying to choose and buy Cutlass HSS or SSS, no chance to test them before, any recommendation from your side? I like and play heavy sounds on MusicMan JP6, but it's time to go back to standards: J.Hendrix, D.Gilmour, ... funky as well... I love Music Man so I don't want to switch to Fender.
As a mediocre player on my American Standard Strat, I believe I am now a mediocre + player on this heirloom guitar! LOL The neck is absolutely pristine, the knobs are out of the way, the bridge is infinitely more comfortable, locking tuners a plus, etc. Got mine for $1,100 used and then sold my Fender about a month later on Ebay, since it wasn't getting played.
Cooper, love the demo (and my SSS Cutlass, which I bought in large part because of your demo for it). Question: what's your processing path look like in the Axe-Fx? Are you using compression? I would love to get better sustain without dimming the gain, and you seem to be doing just fine (even on the singles).
Brian Warshaw The lead is the Citrus amp with a tube drive in front. No comp. I've got the speakers up pretty high in the room, but nothing crazy. This guitar sustains reeally nicely.

watched 1/2 of your presentation , everything I got so far is you told us that the guitar has double coil pickup on the bridge and two single coils pickups . Other then that you just showed us how virtuoso you are on the guitar . I believe you can find another place to show off your virtuosity and let us watch some details about the instrument . You just ruined 3.15 minutes of my time Mister !
