Yeah the entire Appetite for Destruction album is a world famous record. It made them the biggest band in the world at the time. Hard Rock was kind of dying down a little when they came out and just flat out kicked everyone’s ass hard! It’s still one of the very best Rock records ever. The whole thing! That dance move Axl called "the farmer's shuffle." When we hung at the Cathouse before GNR was famous, Axl was one of the few rocker musicians who would get out on the dance floor. Guns and Roses had a hard deal when Nirvana became popular. GNR succeeded where others (like Metallica, Def Leppard, Megadeth, etc) couldn't compete. We think it was nostalgia for 80's hair band rock that people clung onto GNR long after this type of music too a back seat following the revolution that Nirvana ushered in. What was the title of GNR's album after Kurt died? Something like "The Spaghetti Incident"? Total embarrassment. GNR was KIA after Kurt died. GNR was like the only active band that resisted and lasted after Grunge came to town, but they didn't last too long. It was like a death spiral, watching the landscape of Rock change into another era. It was like the "Changing of the Guards" in all honesty. After which, Metallica cut their hair and became radio friendly, much to the dismay of the bygone 80's.

It makes me want the time machine for you guys with me as Rock and Roll tour guide to make sure you do it right! I want to relive the shows, of course, but I would laugh my ass off watching your brains melt live! You would never be the same. This was high powered stuff live. I think most reactors don’t really know how fucking loud some of these shows were across the board. Some bands really pushed it. No one wore ear plugs! Everyone was drunk and stoned on top of it! It was a fucking scene just in the audience! Every maniac high and ready for this spectacle! I have a stupid, ridiculous, long list of bands and concerts that I saw many, many times over the years. Looking back, I can barely believe the amount of concerts and partying I did. Many of the top Rock Bands several times each. I don’t want to do some of my list now, but it’s extensive. Guns N Roses. You have Axl Rose 🌹 but have you ever wondered where the Guns part of the name came from? Before they were a signed band and before Slash Tracii Guns was the lead guitar player. He went on to form L.A. Guns. Check them out. They have several hits according to what you want to hear Ballad Of Jayne is a big power ballad. Kill That Girl is very heavy. And they have all in between. Also don't sleep on the rhythm guitar player Izzy Stradlin. He was the soul of GnR. When he left he put out some albums. Check out his song Shuffle It All

I absolutely love watching them through YOUR eyes. It was the same when I raised my kids, who know all kinds of music (I love it all, but rock is my first love) from the 30's to now. Now THEY get a kick out of showing me today's stuff. Make sure you share all the music you love (and stuff you don't too) with your kids. It creates a bond like you can't imagine.

You think that everyone has had the same experiences in life you've had and that's just plain erroneous thinking. In addition, sometimes you hear a movie that might have a song in the background but don't LISTEN to everything that's going on because you're looking for dialog, not background music. My parents played a lot of 70s music when I was a kid so I heard names like Boston and Bob Segar and Fleetwood Mac but I didn't LISTEN to those songs until I got older.

August 20th 1988 The black and white footage was filmed at Monsters of Rock. - Donnington U.K. I often wonder if that footage was black and white because of the two young guys who died in the crush. Guns n roses were only the second band to play that afternoon. ( Nowhere near the headline slot.). I was carried off my feet in the surge and wasn't even at the front. The 2 deaths were announced over the PA system as we left after the headliners (Iron Maiden) finished their set. A horrible final memory after a wonderful day of music..
