Blame those who retained such types. It's one thing to give someone a try, it's another to keep them on when they fail, cause dissention and worse, reward them for continued failure. Ditto the decision makers up the tree who suffer no consequences for their dodgy decisions. Where's their bosses and their collective balls once they first saw the economic destruction political ideology mixed with crap writing caused? That's who I hold responsible. I'll do better than you at that. MANY people are surprised that comic books are STILL being published and that comic shops actually exist! I haven't seen kids go into comic shops on their own IN DECADES. They usually get dragged into a shop by their father or uncle. Women rarely go into a shop on their own; they generally go in while boyfriends buy books. If all this is not an indictment of a hobby and industry that is DYING, I don't know what is! This was going on well over 10 years ago when I was still collecting monthlies. I bailed out when I did NOT because things were going "Woke" -- that term came later, when the outright crazies took over this industry. No, a more moderate PC culture (but still noticeable Neo-Marxist thread) had taken over comics since the late 1990s. The consistency and quality fell out of mainlines of mainstream comics by the late 1990s and I got tired of paying for stuff that I wasn't thrilled by and frankly the hobby became TOO expensive to keep paying for that level of mediocrity! I'd felt that for years and finally "Noped Out" in 2010 where monthlies were concerned. Shops (around 6 last time I checked; it may be down to 5 now) still exist where I live but they are on the edge. I know one storefront that is basically an RPG gathering place. Their comic stock/GN selection is pitiful. I don't know HOW they stay in business! This location used to be part of a chain that at one time had as many as 3 operating stores. It's down to one now! The other location (run by a different manager, not affiliated with the chain) I'm aware of has struggled for years, and, again, I don't know how they're still around. People have given up on the monthly comic hobby and comic shops. I can't say there's any reason to keep going to a business when all they sell is shlock that no self-respecting collector or reader should buy!

Evil people cannot write about heroic characters that want to do the right thing because evil cannot understand good.

An interesting point there is that pretty much none of them even want to be heroic in the classic fashion and therefore cannot imagine a hero correctly. Even someone who creates a successful antihero understands what they are contrasting and that they must still have semblances and shadows of the heroic struggle.

It’s supposed to be a journey of overcoming external obstacles, but most importantly, internal ones so they become a new person by the time the story is over.

This. The majority of comic buyers supported this garbage in argument, read the crap, stopped buying it, but defended it still. Then they stopped going to the comic store at all. White guilt, fake oppressor guilt, moral posturing is ruining every niche thing we do.
