samurai jack and kratos are white skinned fictional characters and they were portrayed by african american voice actors heck if anyone goes back to early era cartoon network or early 2000's videogames and the voice actors for those characters you would see that they didn't give a rats ass what color the guy playing the character was as long as the role was accurately played and these guys mentioned did a great job and defined parts of my life and this segregation of voice actors is literally the reverse of what we want in media as a whole

Sad to say but I say this out of experience. I've on more than one occasion could instantly recognize their accent which ruined the voiceacting. They just aren't choosing good enough VAs from this racial group or just aren't casting them correctly or aren't telling them to make their voice sound less "urban".

As an Australian, it makes me glad that we don’t seem to have this problem. Or maybe it’s not common where I live. Hell when it comes to topics like this, even our Radio presenters have a “why does it matter? If they’re good, it’s all that matters.” Mentality. Indeed I can think of a ton of va’s that voice characters that I couldn’t see anyone else playing(arbiter from halo, John wick tony stark jack sparrow etc etc) so many characters where their va’a ARE THEM like I can’t see arbiter being voiced by anyone other then Keith David or iron man being played by anyone other then Robert downy jr

It's already creating more racism. I grew up in the 90's and early 00's like most of the target audience of this video, I have never seen so much racism in my life as right now. I grew up in multicultural neighborhoods with almost exclusively non-white friends and we would always make racist jokes to each other because racism WAS a joke. Not so much anymore, now we have people trying so hard to call everything racist they swing right around to unironically advocate for segregation in the name of racial justice while the other side got tired of it and are halfway back to burning crosses and finding sturdy tree branches to hang a noose from. It felt like it was all so much better for that 20 or so years when people just stopped giving a shit about dumb shit that didn't mean anything, but it doesn't feel like it's ever going to go back to that. I mean Christ we went from having the first black president to cordoning off entire city blocks and having armed militias patrol around looking for a reason to shoot anyone for being too white or too black or just for looking at you funny. It took two years for that to peter out and all it'll take to start it back up is literally any situation where a cop may have done something wrong, here in Minneapolis we even had a riot start because a double murderer killed himself while being chased by cops. I literally don't know how to fix this, this feels like an ordeal as insurmountable to me as people in the 1860's were feeling right before the Civil War but at least their solution was as simple as find a guy in grey/blue and shoot him until one side gives up. But with this, I just don't know, there's nobody worth breaking out the old musket for so I guess we all just scream at each other and hate our neighbors' guts until a big meteor takes us all out.

The reality is that any career is hard, and there will be times that you fail, or are disappointed. The solution is to pick yourself up and keep trying. I agree wholeheartedly. I accept the reality and I want to shine above the fierce competition, but with all of this stacking of the deck, if I ever land a role, I will always wonder if I actually earned the role or was I given that role based on my race or other non meritorious factors. And if I find out that any of those reasons were the case, I would immediately drop the role. There is nothing to be proud of to just be given a role. When it comes to anime, there are very few African characters. Most are tanned Japanese. Some are South Asian, and others are Pacific Islanders. So get the African VAs out of there.
