Are you already back?! I didn't expect to see you again so soon....hope you had a nice holiday. Anyway super interesting tutorial...I've learnt so much about sound effects!
Well, this one was fast and easy to make. I don’t feel like doing big long ones like the exploding rats or compositing one because they take a lot of time to make and only a few people are interested.
Thanks for the tutorial. Not sure how this was shot but it actually seems like real water blowing up from the fan would have been easier and better looking than adding it in post.
Because of something called gravity... the water will fall back down. ;-) And you can't control exactly where and how many drops you want. At one point they stay at the same hight as the characters, just floating around then. Cheers
@@BlenderBob If they are at the center of the earth there would be no gravity but if they are falling a person's terminal velocity is greater than that of the rain/water drops. This would make the water still appear to come up from below them. You can also then still add some 3d water effects on top of that. Physics aside, making a good looking shot is often more important than making a 100% physically accurate shot. We adjust things like lighting all the time in ways that are realistic but the audience doesn't care. My main point is sometimes people overlook simple practical effects that can save time and money.
@@mikealbert728 yeah well we could have a very long conversation if you want to talk science and this movie. There's albino t-rex running after them at one point.... :-)
Quick tip: In the UV project modifier you can just input 16 in the aspect x and 9 in the aspect y and it will work the same way Maybe a little more typing, but less remembering and maybe more precision
nice trick, you might also use canvas so to paint glas material over the arm, canvas can disolve over time, and then you get wet arms (see where the 5 spots have been) I think sound is a tip as well, we use both to understand our suroundings..
4:20 my workaround would be to 'select objects' of the droplet collection in the outliner. Then you can just use the insert keyframe hotkey in the viewport
You a the best dude, hope u help me recreate the shot from Marvels First Trailer ETERNALS movie Shot. Were SERSI gradually settles down her hands in the garden and creates water out of her hands.
Thanks for another informative and fun video! As long as you're offering to show how effects are done by the pros, would you consider showing how to make a realistic water explosion (e.g. bombs hitting water). I can't get an effect that I'm happy with. Thanks
Il you look at my Flexseal clip, you will see that we went with Houdini for the water sim because I just couldn't get anything descent out of Mentaflow. Sorry!
@@BlenderBob I feel a little better knowing that a professional like you couldn't get it to work in Blender either. At least I wasn't being totally stupid. Thanks.
Who remembers this song?💯👌"Am I living in a box Am I living in a cardboard box Am I living in a box Am I living in a cardboard box Am I living in a box Life goes in circles Around and around circulation"
Blender bob i was wondering what do u think about blender's new realtime compositor? Please make a video about it. i feel that as a seasoned veteran compositor you can make good, comprehensive video about it. also if you are not fond of it you can make a good critique of it
I have an unrelated question. I am trying to make a new skin for a Daz character species. I exported the base gen8 figure, imported it into Blender, and the UV maps are side by side, and I can't figure out how to bake the texture I made. Only the face worked (first map), and then I think the eyelashes, or something. It ignored the legs, torso, and arms. I have tried searching, and all I can find is the opposite, how to bake many onto one, and I need to bake one, onto many. Because it is for a Daz figure, I can't change the UV layout, I have to work with what it gave me, and I am afraid to try and move the islands onto normal placement, I don't think I could line it up correctly. So, do you know how this is done?
If the UVs are on different UDIMs, you will need 3.3 in order to bake on multiple UDIMs. Besides that it's hard to figure out the issue without seeing the file,
@@BlenderBob Look like Hollywood movies like edge of tomorrow, and other these type of sci-fic movies in which a real character fights with machines and robots. I am happy to see your comment
@@SHTALKS Oh so you are taking about adding stuff on real person, like Ironman. I will make a BB clip about tracking in a few weeks. I will talk about it then.
@@BlenderBob Thanks, Sir! I watched all your videos, and your content is fantastic. You provide us industry-level of knowledge. Inshallah god, give you a reward. The biggest reward is that we love you and stay blessed in your life
There's not much 3D in there. The water is real. They comped the CG elements with a 2D displacement and that's it. Well, that's how I would do it. It's pointless to make CG water when it takes 2 mins to place a hose in the dirt and turn it on. :-)
