Think Pink - improvisation to a BT by Forsman

I'm having a cold... not really excited over making a video today, but I owe a great deal to my subscribers and all the rest of you guys watching my videos... Thanks a lot for all nice comments!! :D
Anyway, this is a soft backing track, kind of Guilmourish, but it's not. Don't know where I got it from exactly, but... anyway, the guitar is a 1990 MIM Stratocaster which I've had a lot of different pickups on, but for the moment there is a set of EMG's on it. It's the SA-set which is the same pups that David Guilmour has in his EMG DG-20 set, except from the tonepots which is just ordinary tone controls on my strat.
I record the sound from my Pod XT Live straight into the computer, then I mix the sound with the sound from the video camera, so the sync isn't perfect, but close enough! ;)

Just stumbled upon this video by accident, but so glad I did. Absolutely amazing sound! I remember growing up, my dad was obsessed with Pink Floyd and I hated them. But as I grew older, I learned to appreciate their music and now they're one of my all-time favorites. This piece has such emotion to it, it danced in my very soul! I just wanted to surround myself in the that sound you created. You are extremely talented! Keep pouring out this kind of music =)

Thanks alot! I never listened to Pink Floyd, I just found these backing tracks and started to jam along... But I agree, I think PF takes a certain age to appreciate their music. Your musical taste developes over time... I'll keep playing and hopefully there will be more videos from me. I just lost interest in uploading videos a couple of years ago, but it's about time to change that! Thanks again from Sweden!

Thanks! I think you're right, that was the sound I was going for but neither of those two gentlemen were my idols really. But the older I get, the more I appreciate them and I can't believe that I even recorded this video,, even though I enjoy looking back nowl Had a great moment there ´! Cheers!

Think Pink is a BT from a Blues BT CD that came with Total Guitar mag a few years back, I've got it and occasionally jam along to it...and others from the same mag. Nice playing...very different from the "sample" solo that was on the track before!

@CedricIII I actually got my EMG SAs in the mail today, and got them installed. So far I think they sound f-in phenomenal. Makes my '62 RI sound great. I haven't tried them on my main rig yet, but that will be tomorrow night!

Actually i put these pickups on my american stratocaster (originally HSS, wich i dont like too much) You are right about the song, i cannot compare, there are so many variables for doing it. But you know what, I follow your device and just by adjusting the mid and low&high boosters, i'm already having better results. Maybe one day my song is good as yours. By the way, great song, great playing once again. cheers!

Hi Forsman, Treble boosters where used late 60's until mid 70's. After fuzz-box(hendrix's sound) before Tube screamer (SRV). Amps did not have master volume then so they boosted the signal from the guitar. Guys like: Blackmore, Brian May, Clapton, Gilmore they all used this kind of booster to overdrive the valve amp. Your playing is outstanding the sound is good but i'm sure by using a booster you'll blow your self away. I'll search some clips where this sound can be heard. Greets Leon

Thank you! I never studied Mr. Beck, but I've listened to some Dire Straits. I'm not a die hard fan at all of neither of those blokes, I just like their technique and I have to tell you that it comes naturally with finger playing. Also I have to thank you, because I haven't watched this video in many years, but did it after your comment. I can feel a difference in my playing if I compare it to how I'm playing nowadays. Anyways - feel free to check in at my channel anytime you like!

Hi there, I've been watching your videos lately and I'm enjoying them thoroughly. I'm not sure if it has been mentioned or not yet, but this track is called Dramatic. I was searching for the backing track to jam along to myself. There is a great website for backing tracks but I'm not sure if you are allowed to post links or not. However if you do a search in any search engine for the words "Guitar Backing Track" you will be sure to find it. Keep up the great work.

I have a question tho, I only know a few open chords, for someone like me how long would it take to learn guitar to your levels :-) with 2 hours practice aday? did you install the pickups yourself and if you did was it hard . because im wondering weather to get a set of sa or to get the David Gilmore one? because you dont have to solder the David Gilmore ones

Very very nice playing. Guitar / electronics make a match, good playing does the rest. Just wondering, have you ever tried low/output single coil with germanium treble booster on a classic tube amp, it would suit your playing. Greets Leon

Hello again. Can i ask you about your pickups? Im sorry, i feel a little dumb about it because i've just bought the EMG DG-20 pickup set and, of course, this song is amazing but i feel a little (maybe big) difference between your guitar. It feels like your guitar have more "flavour", specially on the second position key. Im using also an Electro Harmonix Big Muff PI, marshall jackhammer, vox wah, etc etc. Could u give me a word about it? Thanx a lot man!
