Front pad and rotor replacement on a 3rd gen Tacoma. Let's try some drilled and slotted rotors from Amazon. In this one we will deal with splitting the caliper.
Finally... oil on the floor hahaha. There are pads for puppy training. They absorb alot of liquid... Fancy fancy. I've never heard of a gravity bleed. Good job on the christening...
Hi Stephan🇨🇦, Calippers & Brakepads are offten a difficult work to do😓 But if the bolts are difficult to untighten use heat to untighten these. splitting the calippers may be a risk for brake failure, but any way Stephan you solved the problem👍🏻. further don`t compromise on the brake`s Brakepads or Calippers🙏🏻, with using less inexpensive parts, they are crusual live safers.Greetings.Hubertus 🇳🇱🇳🇴🙏🏻☮🍀🇨🇦
Nice job - looks like the garage is going to work out real well. Sort of weird but I actually thought I smelled brake fluid while watching this video - not sure how that's possible 🥴
I feel for you. I have done many brake jobs (mostly replacing the rotors) and I ALWAYS get stuck on rust - either the rotor hold bolts or the caliper bolts... One word of caution on those fancy rotors. I have bought similar rotors off ebay in the past. They looked fancy and were inexpensive, but the steel was crap and I ended up replacing them with standard OEM rotors after less than a year. You may have gotten lucky, but keep an eye on them. But good fix and I hope they last a long time!
Jaaaa, I just did the exact same job but you beat me to the edit and post. That weather really destroys your vehicles up there. I opted to have my rotors turned which cost $30. New rotors would have cost $180 plus tax at O'Reilly auto, which is my nearest parts supply store. I did notice my brake fluid is dark and needs to be flushed. Not sure if I wanna do that myself. I also noticed we have the same Dewalt tool set. I got mine at Costco! Garage looks awesome. Now you just need shelves or storage of some kind.
Thanks man. Yes I need to get organised. My electrician is coming this week. You can just open all 4 bleeder screws and let gravity do the work, as you do that, top off with fresh fluid. Best way to get rid of dark fluid.
Yeah homie that is definitely not the right way to take apart the caliper or to change the pads I'm not at the end of the video yet but I hope you put new calipers on
Impact wrenches are nice, but a 6 foot cheater on a half inch breaker bar should break them loose...or break them off😅...when all else fails, brute force prevails 😂
@@pstreetgarage7304 yeah, thoughtfully applied brute force 😂 maybe a little heat too...when you have the time, pb blaster and time...took me a week of soaking and persuasion to get a broken exhaust stud out my VW cylinder head...
