i mean yeah this hand sucks to see when you’re the hero, but you can also smile knowing you SHOULD have lost way more flopping top pair against a slow played over pair. Bart even said at the beginning, it could even be a spot to bet/3-bet the flop and be ok with getting it in sometimes.
Haven’t watched the full video yet. At 7:50: villain either has set of 33 or 55, AJ, KJ or pocket QQ (you’d be surprised how often that happens). Nothing else against regular $1/3 opponents!
I think the villain is right, it was a bad call. He should have raised. You just spent 10 minutes explaining why AJ was likely good. Those same reasons apply even more so to QQ.
Agree with everything you said except that QQ may not be beating that many more hands than AJ, simply because there’s a few more combos of JJ available with QQ.
As played I was thinking either bet big or check shove on the river. Targetting worst Jx that raised flop and checked turn. Probably lean with betting as JT may check behind and live players dont value bet thin enough. QQ may fold to check shove though lol
You have to understand the way low stake players play. It's far from standard and you have to adjust to players that won't 3bet pre with a premium like QQ.
I AM MORE SCARED OF FLUSHES THAN STRAIGHTS. STRAIGHTS CAN BE CALCULATED BUT FLUSH YOU SEE TWO OF THE SAME THERE IS EVERY EFFING CHANCE THAT THIRD IS ON THE WAY ESPECIALLY IN NOTORIOUS ONLINE GAMES( MONATONE BOARDS AND LAST TWO OF THE SAME SUIT GALORE ONLINE AND I CANT EMPHASIZE HOW OFTEN THEY DO). IT IS HARD TO HIT A STRAIGHT THAN FLUSH ON THESE ONLINE GAMES.
Take note of that guy as a mouse....they NEVER 3 bet unless they have AA or KK, and even then they don't always 3-bet w/ KK. They want to see a flop to make sure there's no overcard before they start putting in more money. These people are easily mistaken for splashy players who play hands like J5 suited. When you are playing low stakes (especially live) games like this, players don't tend to get too aggressive unless they have the nuts or next to the nuts.
In these 1/3 games, ppl rarely ever raise the flop vs the preflop raiser unless they can beat top pair. Especially in multi way pots, zero chance he’s raising a hand like QJ or KJ, so we beat nothing. Gotta get the discipline and know it’s an underbluffed spot. I could see us calling $50 more on flop bc it’s cheap but still looking to fold if we don’t improve. Ppl at 1/3 LOVE TO FLAT RAISES PREFLOP W BIG PAIRS, that’s why they’re stuck at 1/3 and can’t move up
Bart laughed at folding on the flop, but I'm with you. When you get raised on a flop this dry it isn't someone protecting a bare Jack. It is almost always a set, or in this case a nitty over pair that didn't raise pre-flop.
@@daithi1966 yep… in 1/3, this is never a raise by QJ or KJ, especially when preflop open was to $20, big size, after just one limper. QQ checks back on the turn bc he’s afraid of KK/AA and maybe JJ, bc of the bigger than usual open size.
Bart always says the min raise is usually not nutted hands. But apways in comments people tell him 1-3 esp multiway is super strong. But he sticks to his beliefs.
@@mrhumble2937 if you fold AJ on this flop to anyone besides someone who you've NEVER seen raise with less than two pair after dozens and dozens of hours, quit poker. Utterly indefensible to fold here otherwise.
I think for most players, it depends on the board texture. When they have value, the more draw heavy the board the less likely to min raise. This game in the heartland sounds nitty. Probably very little min raising with draws and marginal value unlike somewhere like Los Angeles.
I’m snap mucking any one pair (even AA) to a clickback of any size in a live low stakes game. It just doesn’t happen often enough. Passive live rec-peasants love their Call buttons more than their first born. They can’t folds hands and they don’t know how to raise. I’m immediately putting the vilain on QQ+, J5, J3, 5-3 or Sets. As atrocious the raggy hands are, they are played as bingo cards. Villain won’t raise J5 on a J62 flop.
so, he should've slapped 3-bet pre, then heavily C-bet flop, that H would've folded? Thus, V would've made way less money, H would've lost way less...and V would've been praised as great play? So: less is good, More is bad??
So the dude who said fold to flop raise was 100% correct. I disagree with bart here..he was saying it looked like jx that min click..to my limited experience the min click is usually atleast an over pair..depends on v inage i spose but if an omc type ..a nitty fold to flop raise isnt a bad play imo
I disagree with Bart on this one. At $2/$5 you might get a raise with a naked Jack, but when I get raised on a flop that is this dry, I'm folding unless I have a read on the player. They are NOT raising with a bare Jack. After all, take a look at how the hand played out. A guy had QQ pre-flop and he did not 3-Bet them. Then he min clicked the raise on the flop.
you would be missing out on good EV betting $60-$70 less on the river every time this instance happens. imagine how many crying calls you can get from AK, KJ, QJ, all pocket pairs below and including TT
Depends on the villain. If he's very sticky I'd probably pot it and against some nittier player I might go even smaller than 150, but 150 seems like a decent baseline vs unknowns@@HartlockYT
My thought is its relatively hard for us to be beat here. We're also supposed to do a lot of checking out of position and a lot of checking multi-way. So give either player in position a chance to bluff or to bet a jack. Tight or not they're going to bet a jack. Once they bet then go for the check raise, as we're just not beat that much and I don't think people are very good at bet folding top pair here. I get what you're saying about the passive opponent, but I'm just not that worried about being beat with AJ on J-5-3 rainbow. Once he raises our bet, yeah then I'm worried.
LOL 1/3 is not SMALL AT ALL. YOU SEE HERE POTS CAN EXPLODE TO 1K IN A HURRY! SO ONE HAND CAN MAKE YOUR DAY AND ONE CAN MAR YOUR DAY!! YOU MAKE 1000 IN ONE HAND GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE AND CLOSE THE DAYYYYYYYYYYY|!!!
I’m a huge fan Bart. I respectfully request that you do the promotional plug at the beginning of the videos, not harshly cut in the middle of a sentence. It’s annoying as a viewer and looks very unprofessional. I really don’t think it is up to your standards. Please think about it.
No I agree with you, it was really awkward and choppy and honestly if he put it at the beginning I might not fast forward through it just because I’m a supporter but interrupting during the video is just really annoying so I do fast forward
