Outside of Cima in the Mojave Preserve is this neat mine along with the original buildings at the mine camp. Many people who travel and explore the Mojave desert have probably already visited these abandoned houses. / deserttrails
I have been in that house's many a time on my Mojave phone booth adventures. Always fun to travel along with you as I doubt I will ever be out that way again. Thank you for all the effort you put into these productions.
Stairs in my paternal grandmother's house were very steep and narrow like those you captured. Even as a young adult, climbing those stairs were a challenge.
Camped there outside the main house on 2/25/2024 -2/26/2024. The building is in poor shape, the secondary buildings are falling apart from the inside out due to roof leaks, ceiling is collapsing, etc. Quite a large house though in its day. There were some mason jars filled with apricots in the cellar that I did not see in your video. The concrete platform at 17:46 had a date of 1980 written into it and some initials.
In that second house after looking at the cooling rack, you went into the other room and you could see someone walking outside through the slates!!! Spooky!!
@@presidentsanta4785 probably not . Always safer to adventure with another person or 2 . Ya never know what might happen. Hate to be way out there alone and something go wrong.
I’ve been through that area Cima, Goffs , Landfair, all the way up to Searchlight and surrounding areas …. To say that it’s a little slice of what “ Frontier Settlement life “ looked like , would describe the area perfectly. Hard life indeed to Eek out an existence in those conditions of mid to high desert , minimal resources , and harsh environments( wind , heat , minimal normal rainfall with occasional downpours , etc). Hard times for most who settled there with high hopes & dreams . Thanks for sharing this one . 👍
guess my post got deleted because I posted a link to a photo... I went about 18mos ago and the "machine shop" was still standing, returned last April to photograph the shed and it was fallen down. :( also the shed with the mill is in much worse shape and many of the tools that were around previously appear to be missing. Was the guy still living in his van on site here? I camped solo overnight to photograph throughout the night so it was a bit creepy.
For those of us interested in visiting this area are there directions from a point of refrence?reference? I made it to the hoping there might be a location or us out of state visitors.
Beg to differ. The NSS Detroit Urban Grotto have a bunkhouse outside their key access underground entry on posted private property. Having completed over 100 miles of cartography verified virgin passage exploration. In what isn't man- made. With underground camps served by porters to deliver drinks, food, and take out the trash. Porters average about 36 hours underground while explorers loiter twice as long. With no end of exploration in sight. Go figure...............
Maybe you can tell me? Why was there plywood with small holes for windows. To me it would help keep the house cooler in the heat. It seems odd to me, no windows. Wow.
Lots of those Sear's houses 🏘 like Jim Walter's Homes 🏡 Later!! Like the internet of a bygone Erra Sear's Catalog's order anything even toilet paper if you ran out the Catalog doubled as toilet Paper little rough butt doable!!!; )😂😅
