In this video I leave my camp at Oliver Reservoir in Bushnell, Nebraska. The free campground I was staying at for the last 9 days was already closed for the season. A local Sheriff stopped by to let me know to move on when I could. I make my way into Colorado. I find a quick place to overnight on the east side in The Rockies. Then I move over to Cucharas Canyon at the Kenner Ranch BLM area near Walsenburg, Colorado. This was a great place to camp and get some solitude and time with the land. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for being here!
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Join me on my adventures.

I am sitting in my living room looking out my picture window to the south. Sunrise is blocked by others around me, sunset is blocked around me. And here you are with a 360 view with all you need. My van sits in my driveway haunting me.

What surprised me about Colorado when I first drove through it, was the amount of farmland. Also, having lived there recently, how fast a prarie fire spreads even with so little vegetation

County sheriff...not that many officers. And its not like his "crime" was violent, noisy, or invasive. Plus, if its closed it maybe gets looked at weekly.

Beautiful sunrise, and sunset! I was trying to follow you on a map, and when you first stopped I thought you were in northern Colorado, and couldn't find Walsenburg, little did I expect that you had driven so much further south. I find it fun following on a map to see where you are camping. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

Yeah, that's the way it was for me. I spent a lot of time poring over my maps, looking for Walensburg north of Denver. Finally resorted to the index and found it way south of Denver, not far from New Mexico. Great country out there, gorgeous sunsets and rises. Judging from those ruts, I would not want to be there if it starts raining.

About 20 yrs ago I did the I-80 from New York City to San Francisco. Didn't know about those great camp sites you found. I'll head west from New Orleans on the I-10 to Tucson in January. Another friend in Phoenix and some work in Flagstaff. ' The Grand Canyon State ' here we go.
