This Doctor saved me. I was suffering from extreme constipation. 2 and a half months of hardly any bowel movements. The doctors couldn't do anything. Not once did they recommend bile salts or specific supplements. I started using Dr. Berg's supplements and apple cider vinegar. I also started eating non pasteurized sour kraut with small amounts of fiber to feed the probiotics. Thank you so much Dr.

Awesome job raising awareness on this. The connection between thiamine and the gut goes far deeper than just improving vagal tone and improve HCL output, however. The enteric neurons themselves require massive amounts of thiamine, and thiamine was shown in the older Japanese literature (not translated in English) to stimulate practically every function of the GI tract, all the way through output of pancreatic enzymes, intestinal motility, intestinal barrier function, etc. Research in China (also not translated in English) was using specific derivatives of thiamine back in the 1970s and 80s to treat intestinal disorders, ranging from IBS, constipation, obstruction and even IBD. The FIRST study in humans (induced thiamine deficiency in a controlled setting) found that none of the patients developed Beriberi or Wernicke encephalopathy, but instead most of the initial symptoms to develop were digestive complaints! Bloating, nausea, reflux, and symptoms identical to SIBO. All of these resolved when thiamine was repleted.
I follow both yourself and Dr Berg and a few weeks ago I started taking TTFD B1 900 mg per day and it seems to have started working, I seen on one of your videos that it can seem to make things worse before they get better so hopefully I am on that path. I have had tenesmus for 10 years, so many tests and docs have no idea what is causing it but watching your videos seemed to have all the symptoms of low B1 so thought I would give it a try. Keep up the good work.
Elliot, do you think benfothiamin can help here or should one use TTFD only to resolve the vagal and digestive issues? How about sulbutiamine? I don't tolerate TTFD well - massive headaches and brain fog. I cant do high amounts of molybdenum either which is what is recommended to help with the side effects of TTFD. I used to be on a high ox diet and am now under 60mg/day.
I miss you writing your suggestions on a white board behind you as you did for years. It helped us a lot to keep track of your excellent suggestions! I would appreciate you doing it again. Thank you.
Dr. Berg might not be a medical doctor but he is more of a doctor than a lot of "real" doctors out there because he actually cares about the origin of health issues rather than to just suppress the symptoms of those issues. Cure the cause and the symptoms will disappear by themselves. :) Thank you.
He is a medical Doctor. Granted he's not GenMed, but chiropractors are far better GenMed doctors than med school graduates with 30 years of quackery that never branched out their knowledge base.
I have also found that Thiamine is very helpful for people with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) because of its importance to the autonomic nervous system!
Well, maybe 80 years ago, before pharmaceutical companies were HUGE, doctors then were more knowledgeable about natural medicine, diet. Only a minority of doctors are well-versed when it comes to diet. At least, in India some are aware of things like Ayurvedha and herbs.
This video is spot on. I have had lots of digestive issues for years. I event thought that I had celiac disease and all sorts. Started taking a bit of apple cider vinegar when i felt heartburn, went away instantly but only for a day or two. Now started taking B9 and B1 vitamine. I eat as healthy as possible, normal size portions and fast every now and then. Don't snack between meals. Pretty much all gone now but still feel like i need to carry on being careful. Stopped coffee and fizzy drinks too.
@@xeniahernandez9535 no, i didn't have any pain just lots of discomfort. I don't use vitamins or apple cider vinegar anymore. I do intermittent fasting. Only eat in a 6 to 7 hour window. That's just life changing or so beneficial.
I’ve been on a anti inflammatory diet, with some keto, but mostly lots veggies and I stopped 100% alcohol, sugar and wheat, took a few months but feel way better, but best was the anti heartburn med I stopped taking. My bloating is gone, and the discomfort in lower abdomen. All problems come down to what we eat.
My wife and I both started ketogenic diet a few months ...with various imput from people saying how unhealthy it was ....well my blood tests came back and I no longer need cholesterol medication my wife and I have both lost more weight than on any other diet and another bonus we don't need any antacids anymore none and we used to buy massive amounts of tums! Thanks Dr Berg!!!
@@angelahenderson5460 and the beauty of it all……it’s not a diet. Ya, we eat less but not crave food, and a day fast here n there is so easy. Side note, went to news eve party, didn’t drink, but figured what the hell, ate pasta, few pieces bread, first sugar treat since October, then bam…..20 minutes later, my lower abdomen was crappy again, felt bloated and didn’t feel all that great. Res5 evening uncomfortable. So I know that it’s not for me going forward. Nice to finally feel healthy. Way to go yiu guys.
I wish u was my Dr. But also very thankful that we live in a age where we can use internet to be able to have access to people like u. We are lucky to have u Wishing u a Blessed 2023 ❤
Very helpful video. Best explanation for acid reflux, SIBO, and food intolerance. Also, the "recipe" for stomach acid includes B1, IODINE, selenium and zinc. For constipation, learn how to use light therapy, especially green, yellow, and orange light therapy. Light therapy also deals with parasites, another cause of constipation...
I suffered from acid reflux for many years, and I was taking a lot of over the counter meds. Now what really worked for me and before I started doing a morning routine, i was skeptical, Apple cider vinegar 3 tablespoons diluted with water before I eaten anything and of course prebiotic. I no longer need over the counter meds.
I’m so glad I ran across this video. I went to two different GI clinics. All they wanted to do was tell me take Miralax. Lol. I was fine up until a few months ago. I actually was taking B1 already. But the Betaine HCl seems to be working. I am no longer miserable after eating. Before I’d have to get diarrhea to relieve the discomfort. Thanks again.
I've suffered for a couple weeks with a very dull burning sensation right at my sternum (between my breasts). I saw a naturopath and she put me on digestive enzymes (1 capsule before each meal) and L-Glutamine powder (in between meals, twice a day). So far so good but I still don't know what I had/have. I just will not go to a conventional doctor! I so wish Dr. Berg's practice was near me! Love him!
This is great information Dr I have had gut problems for years and I try to eat well most of the time but I still can’t get my gut to work properly. I will try this thanks.
I appreciate Dr. Berg And equally everyone who regularly posts their experiences to give those of us who are sick so much hope, thank you Dr. berg and all of your followers.❤
I had foot surgery yesterday and was pumped up with antibiotics and prescribed antibiotics. All I can think is my poor microbiome. I have a history of constipation and got into fermenting veg even using biofertilizers made with probiotics in my garden. I make my own sauerkraut and timed it just right for the ferment to be done when surgery was done. I make my own kombucha too.. So rebuilding now.
I have watched hundreds of hours of your videos and shared them out to help others. When do I get my medical degree from Dr Berg University? 😂😘🙌 Such a blessing you are to so many!
My honest opinion about you is that you are one of the Greatest Health Dr. in the world hands down! You have literally saved me from my failing health back to life, Thank you so much! Much respect to you! ✌️♥️

my daughter has type 1 diabetes(27) yr olds, when she was in the hospital in december 2021 , i specifically asked the hospital doctor making rounds ( and who ended up being the doc to discharge her ) about her vagus nerve and if he could refer us to vagus nerve therapy and he was CLUELESS! he completely blew me off!! just as a side note: i also had to ask 4 times!!! for a vit d test and actually left the hospital to go to her online portal 2 days!!! later ( she was in hospital almost a week) and see that her vit d level was 12!! they never even mentioned it was low much less dangerously low!! i could go on and on about this experience but she was also given too many fluids in the intensive care ( fluid overload ) and got pulmonary edema around her heart and pneumonia in one lung. she had a x-ray in ER and showed NONE of this! the hospital did this, she was diagnosed on discharge with a lot of things but CVIRUS not one of them although they gave her 2 test wanted her to have it so bad, they started her on steroids BEFORE and AGAINST my instructions!! we had a C QUICK TEST at a quick care facility right before they took her by ambulance to actual hospital! the health care systems are totally in denial!!!
Nutritional yeast!!!! Been sprinkling it in soups and on steamed veggies, and lots of other things. And my Husband and 10 year old are now getting the benefits, as I sprinkle it on/mix it into many dinner dishes. They don’t know it’s there. It does not change the flavor. ❤
How did nutritional yeast helped you what were your symptoms and please suggest which one brand you use and where do u get it from I mean order it frm or buy it please share
Hi- I buy it at Sprouts Bragg’s Nutritional Yeast. I think most grocery stores carry it. It helps a little bit with digestive issues, Irritable bowel, use it consistently.
I was recently told, “it’s not just what you are eating; but what your eating is eating”!! It’s all about the circle of life and how everything effects everything else.
DR. BERG I KNOW IT HAD TO BE LORD WHO TOLD YOU TO UPLOAD THIS VIDEO AND I THANK HIM BUT I ALSO THANK YOU FOR ALL THE WORK YOU DO!!! BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN THIS NEW YEAR!
Acid reflux can also be in the way we eat . Not eating at the dinner table . Eating in a lounge chair or laying down right after a meal . Not being active to help digestion after we eat .
It's more to do with what someone eats. I lived with bad heartburn & reflux (thinking I had to live with it, since everyone in my family has them as well) for over 15 yrs. In 2009 I permanently eliminated bad gluten (wheat, barley, and rye). I haven't had either since. In addition, dozens of other health issues decreased substantially, or completely went away. Improving my overall health on every level, in many ways.
@@hotchihuahua1546 they sure do,due to nutrient deficiencies. In addition, what one eats, regarding ones health, is accumulative over their life. Thankfully many things MAY improve just by permanently eliminating bad gluten, and consuming nutrient dense whole foods. I know from personal experiences, and know lots of people whose health has also substantially improved. I'm turning 55 in a few days, and my health continues to slowly improve each year since 2009 (after 5 yrs of rapid health decline after the trauma of childbirth).
Thank You Doc!! From watching ya videos on B1. I finally found the Solution I been lookin for!🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 You Sir are officially in my Top 3 people on in Internet!! Thank You 🎉
so i randomly watched someone on youtube going through digestive issues trying to solve my own issues and he took b1 which helped i started to do so and i improved also stopped eating veggies which also helpedb
Very important vitamin, deficiency of B1 also seen in alcoholics. It is necessary for the metabolism of pyruvic acid, a substance which is produced during the breakdown of glycogen in the muscles to yield energy 💪💪 Thankyou 🙏🏻
The connection between low stomach acid and GERD is such an unknown to the average sufferer. It took me a year of research to finally realize my silent reflux and GERD was caused by antacids. 🤦♂️
I am sorry for m’y English.I havé recently bloating and gas.Beafore they find out that I havé stone in m’y bile.I listen a lot of yours vidéos Even in Russian.I am not.I just want to know how to check m’y stomack accid Thank you for your attention.
Omg! So I did have Gerd but I NEVER experienced heart burn Nor acid reflux. My Dr. Put me on a heartburn pill for years and I finally stopped taking it because I thought it made no sense because I Never had acid reflux issues just issues swallowing. Once I went off the heartburn pills I had unbearable acid reflux issues that I NEVER experienced before. I knew it was from the pills the moment I went off of them. Now after a few years I don’t really struggle with acid reflux as my body has gotten back to normal without those pills. But I still have it occasionally and I just take my vinegar with water and it helps.
Move overseas to a place call Vilcabamba, Ecuador the food there is all grown organic and people move there to get well of a lot of health issues. You can thank me later.

Wow, this describes my life and health issues to a 'T'! I had stomach surgery about 5 years ago, and my health has steadily gone downhill. I don't have a top stomach flap, as he mentioned. It makes sense my surgically altered stomach doesn't function correctly. Very eye opening.
Excellent information, as always! My mother, 89 years old, suffers from bloating, always feeling full and too much *CONSTIPATION.* I think her stomach is not to acidity, so just started giving her: -Betaine HCL➡ 10 min before the meal and...... -Oxi Bile Salt ➡immediately after the meal. I want to know if:🤔🤔🤔 -Giving her these two meds (before and after the meal) are going to help her with her bloating and *CONSTIPATION* or if I should only give her Betaine HCL or only Oxi Bile???? 🤔🤔🤔 Or maybe you suggest me someting different!!! (👀I am going to start giving her Nutritional yeast & Benfotiamine). Thanks!!! (Sorry for my English, l am from Puerto Rico🇵🇷)
Ask why , why and eventually get to the ROOTcause... great content docter Berg. Everything you have said here fits my condition to the T. B1 is the answer to my condition !
Wow. These symptoms are me spot on. It's like you made this video for me! I've been too embarrassed to seek help for this issue but will try Vitamin B1 as a first step and see how I get on! For years I've had issues with reflux, bloating etc etc. The mental health connection makes so much sense too!
Yes! He made videos on each of these specific situations. If you search words like “reflux”, “b1”, “bloating”, “brain fog”, ect. You will see his awesome videos on each of these ❤ Definitely helped me out of so many issues 🎉
Absolutely fantastic video Dr b for exactly my issues and now I know it is safe to up my betaine hydrochloride. Happy new year and thank you for your assistance in helping me change my life.
I've only been doing healthy keto + intermittent fasting for 12 days and I'm already down 7.5 lbs. My waistline in down 3 inch, thanks to the bloat and whatever else that I've been holding onto leaving/healing. My insulin resistance symptoms have disappeared, I wake up alert instead of painfully tired. I have energy all throughout the day and my mind is clear. I love that you feel satiated on this diet, no cravings and you're not starving either! I've got a long way to go but I'm glad I finally got here.
Don't get discouraged if after a month you lose say twenty pounds and then gain ten or fifteen back the next month. Water weight loss is very common initially. It happened to me. But then if you keep at it really great results.
Thank you Dr . Berg. I have lost 9 lbs since July intermittent fasting for my fatty liver, and was trying to resource the info for healthy nutrient replenishment during the times I am. Could not find anything went to your site and found the free PDFs under resources. Thank you God bless you , and happy new year everyone.
Everything you talk about from start to finish has been my life literally over the past month!! Acid-> GI symptoms (cramping , gas, run to toilet and sit there for hours -> bloating and edema of feet/ankles -> clueless about what is going on?!
Loving these videos thanks. Have heaps of digestive issues which my doctor just puts down to anxiety which isn't particularly helpful at alleviating symptoms so look forward to trying this
Chocolate has more polyphenols, tannins, and catechins than tea and coffee combined - all of these substances eat B1 for breakfast, which can drive a B1 deficiency even further.
Doctor, you are the best advice provider. Everything you say makes so much sense, based on my limited knowledge of science from high school. I wish you Happy New Year, and hope to continue learning from you through 2023! Thank you, boss!
Thanks so much for your dedication to educate so many to improve their health. I am following you for years and still learning something new from you. Blessings to you for the new year🙏⭐a fellow naturopath from Germany
Thanks for your insights! I'm curious as to why garlic is recommended for SIBO. I have all the symptoms of SIBO but I also cannot tolerate any garlic in my diet -- it causes a lot of stomach pain and gas.
My only observation is that Dr. Berg says to take 5 of the betaine hydrochloride capsules without saying each one is 50mg or 100mg, or whatever. Some of them out there are 1200mg, so that should be clarified. Tell us the amount in mg to start with, then increase by….
Dear Dr. Berg, months ago, you recommend B1 as Benfotiamine, and Alpha Lipolic Acid for people who lost their sense of smell. This happened to my elderly father, 71y. He started taking both vitamins a month ago in pure powdered form 1 teaspoon per day each in his smoothie. He's smell didn't return completely (yet) but the temperature of both of his feet equalized. He had lower back surgery 15 y ago and since then, one of his feet was always cold on touch. And he would usually be sensitive to cold. Now, his feet are warm and his body warm too. He can smell only roses, jasmine, herbs, and Victoria secrets body lotions. So to cheer him up, I got him collection set of Victoria secrets body lotions for him. 🤗 Thank you.🥰 By the way, Dr. Berg, what else can dad take to speed up his list sense of smell please?
Loss of sense of smell is neurological, something in the brain. I read that the part of the brain that controls the sense of smell is right next to the part of the brain that is effected with Alzheimer's. The only thing that can be taken for the brain, that I know of, is the Standard Process brand Neurotrophin PMG. 1 at bedtime. Dr. Berg does mention here, how much the mind / cognitive is affected by the digestion in the gut.
It might be helpful to have your dad smell things that are really strong I've read this is what helps to bring the ability back for example, strong essential oils like peppermint oil and the bonus is that essential oils are natural and non-toxic, unlike chemical fragrances in products. It will be a lot easier on his lymphatic system to process. GL to your dad!
Our wonderful Creator blessed us with everything natural (fresh Rosemary is for Rememberance) check that out and all the best to you and your Dad. Am very thankful for Dr Berg and few other thoughtful doctors out there, in genuinely helping us all.
Thanks so very much Dr. Berg- you're so gifted at so many things, but if every patient could have the blessings of your gift of teaching - the world would be a better place 🙏 I wish your style and methods could be taught in medical school and every clinic and hospital all over the world so people would be empowered to heal themselves with this physical gnosis🙏🤗💚
Please Doctor Berg help me out! I'm 25 years old and have got hives from heat and exercise (colinergic urticaria) It started after food poisoning with fever in jan 2018. I recently found out I have leaky gut, histamine intolerance and maybe MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome). The problem is when I eat anything fermented I also get a hives reaction and stomach/bowl cramps. With sometimes diarea. My general practicioner said it is just IBS. But I don't believe it. As a young Child my bowls were not always great, but still regular and digesting food quiet normally. Now everything I eat, I can feel after a just a few minutes in my stomach. That's not normal. As a Child I already developed Asthma, Hay fever, Animal allergies and sensitivity to parfums. Since 2021 I take Betaïne HCL with every Proteïn meal from Enzymedica and also take Digestive Enzyms with ATP pro from Enzymedica. I take 2 times 2 Quercetin Complex daily. Also 2 times 2 Solgar Scutellariae daily. When I wake up I take 1 Benfotiamin (B1 with benfopure) from Doctor's Best, 1 DGL tablet and Zinc Carnosine. I drink fresh ginger and nettle leaf everyday. Just noticed that digesting chicken for me is easier than beef. I also take Flora Symmetry (probiotic without histamine producing strains) After a lot of progress the last couple of months, I'm a bit stuck. Please help me what to do next. You may contact me, if possible. Thanks for sharing your videos.
Which B1 and is it in addition to Benfotamine or is Benfotamine a good form of B1 by itself? And what’s a good dosage to begin with? Thank you Dr Berg A#1 doctor for the people!
not him but I tried Thiamine Hcl, Benfotiamine and Sulbutiamine. Benfotiamine turned out to be stronger but also more expensive. Sulbutiamine helped a lot aswell, specially from a nootropic point of view. Hcl and Benfotiamine are good in sync, fixes deficiency really fast, matter of days. Symptoms improve, take longer to fix and notice
Yes, b1 as Benfotiamine is seriously awesome. But I think it’s possibly slower to act since it is fat soluble. Thiamin is water soluble. I suggest you check each Dr Berg’s videos on b1 as thiamin & Benfotiamine ❤
