Different, but I like it. I'm in the boat of wanting to quit and go full time detailing but I'm not quite ready to achieve what I want to achieve. I hope to look back on this time of my life, the 2022 year, as my sponge year. Soak up knowledge, practice what I learn, rehearse and improvise, develop a routine. Repeat. Have to also look out for my family so I can't make any rash decisions lol

awesome interview. This is exactly what i have been saying all this time, money is in ceramic coatings right now. All my detailing friends are doing coatings left and right, most of them actually partner with dealerships where they bring brand new cars to get coated so they do not even have to do much correction and look for customers. I wouldnt even bother with car washes if I were to get into detailing business . A coating job runs minimum 1000$ and up , plus most customer may even get the interior done at the sametime ... Another money maker is PPF but you actually need some good skills for that one , ceramic coatings are very easy for the most part, all the hard work is on the prep

Thank you for the interview and information. Im 51 years old and a female. by some standards an old lady... LOL. however i opened a detailing business in march of 2022. in June. we made $16,000.00 i did this by having the utmost confidence in my work as well as my team. and trust me that isn't easy to maintain at all times. However i know that the customers we want are NOT the ones that whine about how much it cost them for me to clean their crappy mouse infested cars. i want the high end customer that cares about the upkeep and over all value we provide them and their investments. next to a home their vehicles are the most expensive thing they may own. for some its all they really own. and that's valuable to them and to me. they see that and will continue to come to my shop vs the 'cheaper" alternative. keep on keepin' on!!!

It seems like most detailers starting out our cheap, just so they can get clients and/or to get experience. When I started, I came in charging market rates. Why? Because before I started, I saved for over a year to buy everything I needed. So I had no debt when I launched. I also practiced for 6 months on cars for free. Before I launched. When you come in low balling, your practically working for free anyway. Luckily I had a good paying job, so I was able to save and buy everything, including a van. When I started I wanted to be able to take on any type of client . But that’s just me. Do what works for you. I started in my 40’s, so I didn’t want to have to wait 2 or 3 years to generate comfortable income.

I will say for anyone reading, offer all of your customers $20 Off for a google review. Even if you make a mistake or miss a spot here or there you’ll get 5 stars out of everyone for $20. Once we hit 50 Five star reviews we raised our prices. We charge 220-260 for an interior with a steam and shampoo. We put a dehumidifier and a Blower along with an ozone machine inside. Most of our work is mold removal jobs at 350-450 for just the interior. We cut most of our silver services to focus on gold. We do not offer any $100 washes. We would rather less volume and higher end output. If you build it they will come. You’ll get more business with a higher price because people don’t think “clean” when they see an $80 service. They don’t tell their friends or flex a clean ride for an $80 Service. You can start off with low quotes and then haggle overtime until you upsell most jobs to the price you desire anyways. One thing we used to do was charge $200 for an interior and then tell people it was $40 for pet hair, sand, or mold per hour. Then it leaves it open ended. Now we do that but charge a higher starting price so we can include “discounts” for reviews or give people a break on overtime when we want to juice up their reaction a bit. When we really started loading work up, it was when we changed our company niche to “interior specialists” Doing this and claiming we have superior interior services to our competitors made people come to us for the big jobs where we don’t even have to spray the vehicle. We dislike doing exteriors anyways so this was a win-win for brand building. We just bought a ford transit two weeks ago so now we’ll be mobile and open up to express services with a second crew. My plan is to imitate detail groove without the extractor. Drill brush + vac for any stains for a quick spot treatment but I’m going to make it so the gold services that are 250+ for an interior, are only done in shop. It’ll alleviate pressure to complete a job because in my opinion, three interior express details for $120 come with the possibility for an upsell. If the customer insists they don’t need a shampoo - you have an excuse to fall back on if the finished product isn’t up to standards. You can say “we’ll give you 15% off the gold when you’re ready to completely restore the interior “ or something along those lines. Our next phase of building the company is A) to do 3 jobs for 100 instead of 1 job for 300 (that way we have cheaper options for a different niche) and B) to set my truck up with a water tank and our 4200 psi pressure washer for boat washing and detailing. By the end of December we’ll have three different crews running if the plan works out, I’ll update y’all as we go! Mist A Spot

@ThisIsSparta300
@ThisIsSparta300 2 года назад
Cold email everyone and then immediately go in the following day and ask to speak to a service manager. My tactic was offering them a free detail and it usually locks them in for a couple at the VERY least. If they’re willing to give you a vehicle to do for free, they have no guaranteed loyalty to their current detailer. Leave a business card and a small bottle of armour all with an elastic attached to the business card in the glove box of every car you do. Even if you lose 5$ on every vehicle you may get a return customer, or one that turns into several future referrals. Your goal is to start creating the biggest snowball you can by setting your foundation now. May take a year or two to be busy but just keep at it and keep at it. Offer $20 off for a google review with each invoice you collect payment for. ALWAYS TAKE BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS
