This Episode Made Me UGLY CRY... A LOT | *The Last of Us* 1X3 REACTION | "Long, Long Time" 

Such an episode. Bill knew how to survive. Frank showed him how to live. Thank you for your beautiful reaction.

According to the showrunner, the original version of this episode was 2 hours long. And when he was watching it, he cried so much it physically hurt him.

As you said, the lines and acting from Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett were so good that you wouldn't be blamed for thinking they were a happily married couple in real life. While it didn't further the plot along, it did something much more important. It entertained and moved us as very few television episodes ever have.

hands-down one of the best displays of a love story in modern tv. this episode had me in puddles. cried even rewatching with you. as someone who's experienced the game, I have never been more impressed by how they altered the source material. we got to see so much more of bill & frank in one episode of television than we did in the game. hoping for nominations for this series because this episode alone could win multiple categories from the acting, to the cinematography, to the screen writing. 10/10 perfection. :')

The window shot is iconic btw. It's the main menu of the game. But also alludes to that's where they are, their bodies, looking on. But think about it, Bill was super paranoid, he would never sleep with the window open. So his walk from that window, his back to it, to the bed where his Frank was waiting was the final acceptance that this was it. Years of fear, mistrust, weight, leaving that window open was the first time ever he never had any worry.

This episode deserves an award on it's own merit. It could have been done unrelated to the series, just it's own one hour show by itself, and it would be perfect. I've cried twice from it so far. Once the first time I saw it and the second when I saw your reaction. So genuine.

It's not just you that barely stops crying and then you open your mouth to express how beautiful or sad or sweet a moment on this episode was and then you start crying all over again. Thanks for your reaction. Simply beautiful.

That shot at the end of the episode through the window was a nod to the ones who played the game. The main menu screen was a window sill and it's iconic. This episode was pretty much all original (nothing from the game was really in it) but it works perfectly with the themes of the story! Love your commentary! Have a nice weekend!

The morning of the first episode, the neighbor was feeding biscuits (American biscuits are a moderately thick bread, what England calls biscuits are more akin to what Americans call cookies) to "Nana" probably about the only thing she was eating, hence why she turned first. (One thing that always bugs me about this theory though. Biscuits pancakes, cookies, cakes, are typically baked/cooked at temperatures well over 212F (100C) so I'm surprised the fungus would endure and survive the baking/cooking process so well.). Tess told Joel to get Ellie to Bill and Frank's. When asked "are Bill and Frank nice?" Joel responds "Frank is" And from this episode you see why he says that. 15:11-15:18 an important lesson for reactors who watch shows that pull tears out of them.

We take something like this for granted, but if you haven't been able to enjoy something like this for years, it's definitely overwhelming. I'm absolutely not homophobic or anything, but I've never been touched by a gay love story like this one

All these action show that supposedly show strong men etc, nobody is stronger the Bill and Frank, and this show told a beautiful tale of love and how it can rescue people from loneliness and bitterness etc which was brave when it's billed as an action show etc .....well done the writers and the actors who put the whole thing over

this episode was so different from what I expected. Having played the games I thought would be a lot of action and Ellie jokes, but this is story I never knew I wanted and now It would feel wrong to leave it out. In the end the last of us to me is a extremely well done story from start to finish it is really intense, but that is why it hits it is so good because it feels legimtely real.

One of the best reaction to the third episode. Yes, episode 2 was sad to see Tess sacrifice herself, but this one just took it to the a whole new level. Watching how Bill and Frank's love grows over time in their own bubble, and one has to endure the sad reality of life (disease and aging) hits home so deep. Then to see Frank ask Bill to give him one more good day just hit me so hard. Thank you for the honest reaction.

the last shot was the "open window" that bill said he left open so the house wouldn't smell. such a well done episode.

These writers, producers, actors...etc are soo good i'm so happy they went with the guy from Chernobyl his way of storytelling is so emotional. So sad the Actress that played the voice of Tess in the game passed away today at 45 from Cancer.

I can only recall two other episodes of shows that made me cry this hard. One was the episode of The Practice where Jimmy was with his innocent client while he ate his last meal before execution. The other was the Van Gogh episode of Dr. Who.

The cookies, biscuits, pancakes and cake were all luckily avoided in the 1st episode.

oh for sure, this episode transcended the genre. Its literally too good for a TV show about fungus zombies. It will win emmys for sure.

If you didn't at least get choked up in this episode, I would be concerned that you were a serial killer or something. Though it is significantly different from the Bill section of the game, it adds so much that it is kind of better. You still get the same message 'Find that one person, and protect them.' but you get so much more. A perfect setup for the rest of the series. They also showed a side of gay love that we don't really see. Not cartoonish or demeaning, just a grounded love story. in teh game you spend so much time with Joel and Ellie, protecting each other so I was initially concerned if they could make their story come together natural in another medium. Episodes like this, that barely have Joel and Ellie and somehow still build not only the world but add depth to even off-screen characters is dope. Like a magic trick.

Bill was staying alive but not living Frank was living but wouldn't have stayed alive they both offered each something positive and ultimately that's the point of love/relationships. ppl offer different things and different roles that complement each other... and that's OK I knew this series would get u right in the feels miss and there's way more to come

While I am bummed we didn't get to see an interaction between Ellie and Bill, and that they omitted one of the better sections of the game, trying to pull off that entire sequence within a single episode would have been a near impossible task. Nevertheless, I'm completely satisfied with this beautiful character study of Bill. Excited to see where they take the series next.

The window scene at the end is a reoccurring thing of symbolism from the game. In the game it's the title screen, in the show it also starts with this scene in Sarah's room. It also ends the sequel with that scene, which means it actually hits really different for those who know…

I completely agree that Ellie will use her gun to save Joel, however, I believe it will happen in the next episode, and will also be the catalyst for Ellie's later gun use in future episodes. By the way, I haven't played the game, so I'm literally just speculating.

I didn't cry the first time I watched the episode because I was so preoccupied by comparing it to the game and being convinced that somehow Bill was going to survive and trying to figure out where the story was going. But god, when I watched it the second time and really just took it in for what it was, I was a wreck

The show diverges from the game from the 3 yr fight. Bill and Frank are partners in the game, but Frank and Bill fought; then Frank leaves. I won't say more (game spoilers).

Only bad thing about this episode was Bill being killed off so we never get to see his interactions with Ellie, which were fantastic in the game.

I'm gonna be in the minority here, but I have very mixed feelings about this episode. I played the original game 13 years ago and then replayed it about half a dozen times back to back. I thought it was the most incredible game I'd ever played, so I am heavily invested in the OG content ...and this story was a really big departure from it. It was a very touching, heart-warming story that would have worked really well as a stand alone episode, or a webisode or something. The production quality was flawless, but.... Well firstly, I'm not a romance kind of bloke. I'm an emotionally closed off, toxic male and it's taken me a lifetime of hard work to get there. I've buried my emotions under the patio where they belong. I don't appreciate TV shows making me feel stuff. If I wanted to cry, I'd watch England play football. On that point, I definitely didn't cry. Definitely not. If I walked into a room and everyone was watching a romance, I'd do the decent thing and leave immediately. Entertainment should contain guns and explosions, aliens or dragons and monsters ...or perhaps groups of men hitting a ball. These new-fangled shows have no business interfering with my feelings and it's their fault I'm going to have to go out and shoot a rabbit to make things right. I dont own a gun and the nearest rabbit is at Pets at Home, but that's not the point. ...and breathe ...OK now I've got that off my chest - half an episode of romance really isn't my thing. Yes, yes I know it was beautifully done ...and it certainly was, but it wasnt really what I wanted or expected. You know if you want a Big Mac and somebody gives you a Whopper, you cant really complain because the Whopper is a better burger, right? But it's not a Big Mac. The thing that bugged me was I was really, really looking forward to this episode and how it was going to render the game content. In the game Bill's town was a high-octane ride. From Joel getting caught in one of Bill's traps and hung upside down, to a wild sequence of trying to bump-start the truck while getting rushed by runners. But I was really, really looking forward to Bill, Joel and Ellie doing battle with a boss monster. Those who've played the game, will know what I'm talking about. All of that has gone and I'm disappointed. There was also some awesome back and forth between Ellie and Bill that we will never get, because now they will never meet. This was a really well done episode and joking aside, I did enjoy it. But I missed the OG content so much, that for me at least, it was a little too syrupy and the juice wasn't really worth the squeeze. I'm sure this will be a minority opinion. YM will V.
