Next video will be about something that isn't Factorio And on the off-chance the mod author sees this. Change the primer thrower inserters. I wanted to used them exclusively to defend my walls but they do about 100x more damage to your walls than the biters because they're allowed to throw way too close to itself. Also things like cannon shells do no damage and explosive cannon shells do half damage because there's no contact damage, only explosive when it's thrown.
There's a Dwarf Fortress defense strategy that works shockingly similar to the unloading method. Only you unload industrial quantities of spears into invading armies instead of bulk unloading metal.
Imagine you're on the ground doing maintenance on the furnaces, and you're nearby this behemoth concrete and steel pad in the middle of it all, when suddenly a train horn blares above you and you turn to see an entire locomotive falling out of the sky. Now, you're new to this factory, you were just hired to maintain it while the creator goes on to build bigger factories, so you scream in mortal terror, only to hear it hit the pad and make a deep "bwoing" sound multiple times. You aren't dead, you peek up from the ground where you dropped for cover, only to see the back end of the train flying away in a glorious parabolic arc off to its next rail section. "What the f*ck." you say, as you lay there in shock until the sound of malfunctioning machinery reminds you why you were down there in the first place.
@@scroomergriffin890 Every time I write a comment like this, its one more time that I'm reminded that I have a writer's muse, but its still asleep and only awakened briefly enough to cough up this chunk of story. Its a constant adventure trying to reawaken my muse :P
@@Avetho you definetly need to find something you're passionate about and just start writting. If of course you enjoy it that is. But you have something special. Hope you get to utilize it to its fullest one day :3
@@scroomergriffin890 Oh I sure hope so too, thankfully as we're getting into Spring over here I'll be able to hop on my bike again, my muse came much closer to waking up last Summer as my health went up and my brain got that grass-touching mental stimulation XD
i beat the game once. then i tend to leave either right before chemical science or right after getting utility science. the base i used was a piece of trash and took 72 hours to get it to where it was. utility science basically didn't exist and the satellite was crafted by hand
@@FDG323 hey quick tip, try to challenge yourself with stuff, like build a nuclear reactor from 0 calculate the ratios by hand and stuff. Or go for other game modes like death world, maybe go for challenge runs like MikeHendriks does. Also mods are your best friends to keep the game fresh, my interest also dies at chemical science, but after I get over that hump the game opens up like a book, at the end of the day, think about something that you find cool and try to make it I guess, and if you don't want to grind use editors extension mod and create a lab world, that way you can blueprint stuff, and add that giga reactor blueprint as a goal to your game for example, anyhow, videos an awesome way to get inspired to do stuff. Also never forget the factory must grow!
The most impressive part of this mod is the "boing" sound they make as they bounce off. There is something very cartoonish about it which I can't help but appreciate.
"Now I can aim _precision train strikes_ wherever I want." And that sentence right there is why I love Renai Transportation. Other than hucking things across the way, that is.
It's funny, that his "Eh whatever" attitude equals/overtakes me tryharding when i'm playing alone. My smooth brain cannot go more complicated than back-and-forth trains, and simple factories.
@@Hawk7886 being able to tell the difference between "eh whatever" and "if this isn't right people will die / heads will roll" is the hallmark of the great
Flying trains is one thing, but I broke down laughing every single time I saw the "impact unloader" at work. This base is truly a triumph of goofy engineering
and yet his comments are always "I am not going for something ambitious here" or "only a small, quick and dirty setup" and yet everything is bigger and better than my chaos spaghetti
Hearing Dosh express joy after building those 80 trains was a treat. Compared to his usual gruelingly complicated playthroughs(which I also love) this was a real treat 😂
"Somewhere over the Trainbow up in the sky There's a save that I've heard of One that will horrify Somewhere over the Trainbow Signals are few And the tracks that you dare to dream Really do come true... Someday I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the tracks are far behind me Where troubles melt like napalm'd bugs Away above the smelting plots That's where you'll find me Somewhere over the Trainbow...."
Okay, being about to have enough materials being automated in a decent amount of time to launch the first rocket of mine, this mod would unironically solve a few areas with belt spaghetti in my base Also I am constantly mind blown how people can just, space things correctly to fit other things. Seeing actually good players route red and green science always blows my mind
I just want to say master Dosh that you've single handily reignited my interest in factorio. I remember the first time I started playing I was quite frankly, horrible at it, so I dropped the game. But seeing you go through the starting steps over and over again, and the thought that your first base will be horrible and that's alright, has honestly inspired me. It's starting to sound a bit wankey so I'll just say thanks for the content and for making me care about a game again. Hopefully all of those therapy sessions for all of your challenges help.
Something that helps is turning of expansion for biters or just going completely peaceful. it helped me get the hang after i was also inspired to try again. and remember the main bus is your friend and plan out its width beforehand
I've started playing Factorio a month ago and discovered your channel randomly. Just stopping by to say your channel is really qualitative : long videos with a good balance of content and jokes, good editing, nice narration, subtle music balance. I have watched every video you made, even the non Factorio related are great. Keep on giving, thanks !
He might as well do Satisfactory too. Maybe he'll do a video like his Zachtronics one where he reviews logistics games. Maybe he'll check out some Minecraft tech mods.
I love factorio and other automation games, and seeing a train jump just to be unloaded by crashing it with items flying chaotically is simple hilarious, i need the ability to do that in other games.
as soon as you started mentioning using signals i was lost entirely, ive gone through the entire game never using them beating it 1 time without even touching them. and you explain them like its something super simple and i just...brain does not go brr.
I love how excited you were about the trains hopping around everywhere (feigned or otherwise). That isn't normally present, so to see it aroused by flying trains was the epitome of hilarity.
I juxtaposition between your narration and the chaos from recourses being flung about is perfect. It brings me an odd amount of joy seeing trains fly through the air.
dude i have to say one thing... i f**** loved it sooooo much... this is the factorio content we need to see.... and damn you can deliver them... its sooooo awesome..
Brilliant as always. I can't get enough of this, you are one of few people who can make laugh, and others are usually professional stand up comedians :D
The videos just keep getting better and better! Enjoyed this one a lot, compared to your other videos this might actually be something I'd want to make myself...
Your Marrow review was so good that I subscribed despite not playing or knowing anything about Factorio. It might be time for me to listen to literally the entire internet and finally play Factorio.
i like watching your videos before bed because the problems you face are so complex that trying to understand them burns off any spare imagination i was holding
Yoooo. I get so stoked when I see a new weird challenge of yours. There are ton of "Playing X but Y" type channels, but I think your angle to what you pick / how you play is one of the best. You get some good ideas dawg
Good work on the videos dude, you’re talking with a lot more inflection now and they’re way more interesting to watch. Also just wanted to throw out that I loved your videos about La Mulana and that tower game so I’m looking forward to you talking more about weird games Ive never heard of
