Yeah he doesn't actually know what the vibe is for it. You don't say it on slips and shit. Dude just wants to be part of the show but has nothing of substance to contribute.
I love DJ, he mentally stays in the zone for the entire time, great focus. Really like how he is calm and not overly reactionary. Beautiful head movement. Nice seeing just the right amount of sting too. Awesome job guys, a real pleasure to watch this.
Hey! Maybe an idea for a video. A lot of us (i assume, haha) are doing martial arts for fun, as a hobby. And a lot of us are afraid of injuries (minor ones and of course major ones). Can you make a video about that topic? Injuries? Maybe you can talk about the injuries you got from the years of martial arts training and how to prevent them/how to treat them. But, again - it's just an idea off the top of my head!
What kind of injuries, are you talking about? I think he did a video about preventing injuries in his jiu jitsu video, where he shows his massage stuff, which was pretty interesting by the way.
Are you afraid of Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)? anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)? Hand, Shoulder, Neck/Back injuries? Most of this stuff does not happen if get a good instruction as a beginner and build yourself slow and carefully. Jeff always tells people to not spar with bullies. I sometimes tell people to not fight while injured. But most people seem to have a lack of sense regarding their body. The wrestler Sting said shortly before his retirement, that the reason he survived for so long is that he did not try to force his body with steroids and that he asked himself every day, what can he do and what can he not do. There are always little signs you gonna see with experience, like how much breath do you get after stairs or how does it feel if you lift something. If you are not fine then first care about that. but in my opinion most people fail cause they go with the attitude that they do not need people to instruct them or have inexperienced trainers.
There is this one rule in fighting, PROTECT YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES. It is worth meditating about that in regard to what it means and what you can do about it.
I can recommend Jesse Enkamps video on PREHAB. His mother has a karate dojo and is working in the medical field. So he knows, what he is talking about. His video is called >> avoiding injuries is easy, actually
I've been watching your sparring videos for as long as I have been training, which hasn't been too long I gotta admit, but it has given me so many ideas of things to try and also how to deal with certain types of fighters during sparring. I've been improving a lot, and that's in part thanks to you!
I love that you're always trying new stuff and studying this art, trully beutifull man, I apreciate your content! Even tho you might not be a great name world wide (no ofence intended), you're trully important to the scenario and the development of the sport. Very few chanels share so much sparring footage with no ego involved and a nice breakdown to it, this is a great class for all of us
Fantastic footage and commentary showing the intricacies that would otherwise be missed by us non fighting experts. I could really appreciate the importance of sparing to the on going development of a fighter in terms of putting into practice techniques and tactics without being severely harmed.
*Wow Jeff, seeing you spar, gives me confidence I can improve. The challenge is that at our gym, the Instructor doesn't do sparring for beginners, but goes straight into intermediate / advanced when it comes to sparring and it gets overwhelming and instead of focusing on trying things out, I end up evading and defending all the time, sometimes moving away too much.*
Returning to sparring today after getting surgery to repair a broken orbital. Going to try to use more of your tools, the long guard, the dart cross, heavy focus on low kicks and evasion to avoid taking damage like I have in the past
Your movements remind me of Dom good stuff man I have a question why you don't fight you could do really good I understand that fighting camp Very expensive but is there's any other reason besides that?
Thanks man. I don’t see myself as a fighter, just a martial artist who loves teaching and displaying the beautiful art. I also lose money taking a fight, ONE pays garbage. I get paid more to spar and produce content then I do to fight
Beautiful sparring. Wish there were gyms with these kinda training partners where I live. Too many meathead, weekend brawlers tryna hurt each other rather than develop skills for the long-run.
Jeff, brother, I need your wisdom! How do you know what to throw!? Whenever I spar, I go blank and randomly through strikes that don't seem to work! Is this just lack of drilling? Keep up the awesome work! Your courses are incredibly priced so when I say that I'm waiting for my paycheck to buy your Head Movement course, it's just cause I'm broke! XD
So I've done Brazilian jiujitsu, but I am just a beginner when it comes to stand up (I know *a little bit* and more grappling than striking). How do I learn to move the way you are moving and throw combinations like you do? Where do I even start? I am familiar with the jab, cross, hook, uppercut, side kick, high kick, knee strike, elbows, etc. But when I try to do even light sparring, I act like a total klutz! Could you recommend instructional materials or videos? Do I practice footwork, hit the bag, lift weights or all of the above? What's a realistic goal for a novice like me?
I would start with footwork and distance management!! And yes basics like the jab cross low kick etc. footwork and distance control is most important with single strikes, then you can slowly up the combinations but even then I don’t throw big combinations unless I rock my opponent or they shell up
amazing content man😍🙏 how do you mixup your strategy according to your opponent? Like what do you look out for to know what to change? And is it an adaptation mid fight or something you pre train for in case you face such opponent?
Thanks man! It can be a mix of everything. Sometimes mid way (if it’s my first time sparring that person), sometimes I have sparred with them a million times so I know what to do and not to do!
hey jeff fan of many years here, I would be a pretty high level amateur mma fighter here in ireland. Just a question for a video idea. Could you do a guide on dealing with very kick heavy opponents. As a smaller fighter i respect opponents kicks a lot. have been finding it hard lately to find consistent solutions to get past these types of fighters. Thank you jeff 🙌🏼
Distance management and catching those kicks! You catch and sweep once, your opponent will def start kicking less. But it’s all dependent on their skill level
Please Can you do a video of transitioning from boxing to mma or boxing for mma. For example things you will need to change like stance etc. this would really help
I am far from your level but I would love to have a technical sparring with you, besides having fun, I know I would learn a lot from you. And I hope to be able to contribute something to you as well! posdata: I love your videos! I am currently following you since 2018/2019.
@@MMAShredded Well in japanese martial arts you have 10 levels of black belt. There is lots of variety from senior, older brother, teacher, master, grandmaster level to god of martial arts, which you become after bashing several other dojos. Similiar to the hundred man battle of kyokushin.
Jeff when you going to fight again?? Father time waits for no one my dude You have a lot of potential and I'd hate to see it wasted on not becoming a champion
How exactly could we tell, that he was training under your supervision? His style does not show any of your key techniques, he even has a different stance than you. And he still keeps his eyes up while headmovement to trace the movement of ya, instead of letting you run into him and get trapped.
DJ needs to stop dropping his rear hand when he's backing up. He goes into some weird philly shell stance whenever he's backing up and being pressured. Good shit tho.
