I remember catching well over a hundred in a day at the docks, while catching blue claw crabs. Used to catch them on a bamboo pole, and a shiner. Those were fun summers. Also we would get some blowfish. Returned most snapper and any small crabs. Some “🇮🇹”, would use the small crabs as “sauce crabs”. 😅
While going after flounder, a dozen or so gulp grubs were sheared clean by these elusive snappers. I took matters into my own hands and threw a 1/4 ounce hopkins and caught 25 or so and gave them a stern talking to right before I released them.
