I think the Tribute-blocking effect on the Link is intended as a little Lore tidbit: The Ritual Beasts were (Alongside the Zefra) the biggest enemies of the Infernoids (Who all have effects that require Tributes to activate).
It's funny how Ritual beast still has the reputation of having an extremely long combo even when in this day even salamangreat turn 1 takes more steps than it.
I think the biggest problem is the turn took so long and you were effectively just doing the same loop over and over again. It’s honestly a parody of some modern combo decks but it somehow released in 2015
@@FlameEchoall main deck monsters have a once per turn special summon restriction. So if you have access to multiple names you can keep the combo going for a bit, but because of the restrictions you can't repeat it infinitely.
It's exactly the kind of support the deck needed. It furthers and supports the existing gameplan without making it inherently broken. Ritual Beasts always had a competent end board going first, but the lack of a going 2nd gameplan and folding to any kind of interruption really held them back. We now have more plays, extensions, consistency and protection. Turns will still take a lot of time, but honestly, so does every combo deck nowadays.
my favorite deck of all time is actually more playable I cannot be more excited. I still have my 2016 deck in it’s sleeves (from that era) with like 5+ banned cards that I never took out lmao
Crossout designator looks pretty nice to use in this deck, both to deal with handtraps and to extend (although you won't want to ban monsters with useful effect, pretty useful with the tamers, notably winda)
jesus christ idk how yugioh streamers do it. chat just listing off everything involving tributes not understanding the effect of that link would drive me insane. idk how Josh stays so calm I would snap lol.
The only long part about the combo was trying to explain to the opponent, and the judge call about cannahawk only needing to return 1 monster to get the effect.
You can chain the link 4 effect to steads targeting steads instead of one of your beasts for an additional banish on top of at least one pop! 🔥 It also says FUCK you to Rikka / Infernoid and annoying tribute cost effs 🔥 (Also stays within theme with recursion from banish zone ⭐️ 8.5/10 for me. Would be dope if it had more atk but I’m ok with this 💯😭
You can also target either of the new cards for your banish to either plus off new tamer summon effect or dodge the Banish with new fusion and it's tag out effect.
I think this makes the deck playable, not meta dominant. If they wanted to make it dominant, they would have made the 3rd effect of the Continuous Spell not once per turn, they would have the Fusion target protection apply to itself, and they would have made both of the effects of the Link Quick Effects. Then it’d be pretty great. But I think with just this, its just ok UNLESS some new archetype splash now works with these new cards involved that does something really wacky.
For those you don't get why the new link 4 is good, you can summon it with Ritual Beast's Bonds for only 2 material (a card you can search with ulii-cannahawk) and it continues the combo as you get a free normal summon from your banished ritual beasts. All that on top of being a stopping tribute effects (think lonefire blossom) and being a quick play banish. I could see people even holding off on summoning it with Bonds to keep a interruption that can't be stopped by dark ruler or to dodge a destruction effect (ritual beast really clown on targeted removal already lol). I'm just in love with the new support, it makes the deck not just playable but honestly good. Its also the best deck to play shifter and other macros in, as the deck benefits from them rather than just being okay with it. It'll probably take a while to finish your first combo, but you are gonna have strong board and far more consistent plays than before. (Also the new Lara combos with younger Lara to make a rank 1 if you want to play zeus for a cute play)
Don't forget that the new fusion also helps against their greatest weakness, ash. As long as you have a way to get any of the spiritual beasts in the gy, you'll at least have something better than elder pass.
I did not realize the rank 1 angle. Fairly sure nothing in RB locks you to anything except uhh... ambush? Yes, ambush, which is generally played on the opp turn anyways, locks you. Not a big deal. This deck might have some serious spice, and it's what every RB players have ever wanted I think. I mean sure, if we got a big floodgate monster that was summonable with Bonds or something silly, I suppose maybe it would be a hated rogue deck. Nah, this RB is still Steeds + swarm, but now you get a bunch of bonus out of swarming. What the deck currently needs is S/T protection. Josh kinda glossed over the fact that you can swarm AND protect them so stuff like Steeds pop off bigly
@@blankazure217 Ash blossom is pretty weak against the deck, Unless they Ash'd Rampengu. But they are ashing one search. You still end on Pettlephin fusion or if you have tamer in hand you still go through the whole combo.
in practically every turn 1 play, however, Reiratuari can and should be summoned without bond (canna, pengu, elder + canna, elder + pengu, etele + canna, etele + pengu, etele + elder, new lara + any rb.. all of these lines do that) because the end board is not in any way weaker than if you had used Bond, and at the same time you gain the benefit of being able to Revive Reirautari on turn 3, which is absolutely huge
Konami has recently been printing more cards which ss from deck that require a tribute to active so maybe that floodgate effect will be better than expected.
Back in the day a dude gave me a bunch of ritual beast cards and said next week he'd give the other half to me I never saw that dude again but still own the ritual beast cards he gave up.
i like how the card that says your opponents monsters should have most times not enough attack to get over your stuff having a swap battle position mode
One thing you missed is that Nochiudrago special summons a "ritual beast monster" and doesn't specify whether it has to be beast, tamer, etc. So assuming you summoned them properly and have a way to banish them, you can get your ritual beast link monsters back for free.
Honestly, the Link-4 should be a Link-3. It kinda makes you feel worse summoning it instead of Ulti-Kimunfalcos for extension, for example... But I'm glad seeing new support for Ritual Beasts, lore and artwork-wise they are a very neat archetype, IMO.
the link 4 is actually pretty good, it would be alot better if you could use the 3rd effect on either players turn. It lets you recylce your stuff and gives you extension. Yes you 100% look at it as extention. ALL the tamers only get effect with normal summon NOT special summon. Also the banish effect you can ttag out the fusion you make or the steeds you activated so its almost NEVER a negative. Also the continous spell when you tag out with your fusions they put your monsters in def position so you can change the battle position to attack and attack for game easier. you can also end on the link 4 without bond fairly easily because they have a link 2 that you can rank up into it. Bond is there if you want aswell. these cards are pretty good. You have like 9-13 one card starters if you also play noble knight shield bearer and reinforcement of the army. E-tele was always kind of weird to use with this deck because all of them can only be specialed one time or it would create infinite looping and the new tamer gives you another body when its used to make a fusion so it helps with extension when you e-tele.
@@screamordie1000 running 3 double summon was ass. 3 etele yes but it had a problem before because you couldnt summon it back so it didnt really help that much in the grand scheme of things and the new level 1 lara does.
GEE FUSION DECKS, WHY DO YOU GET TO HAVE RITUAL AND XYZ MONSTERS? (Just talking about the names here, I know that there are Fusions that use monsters from all the other standard Special Summoning mechanics as materials, sometimes named like the Eyes-Restricts that use Relinquished, sometimes just specific types like the N'Tss Contact Fusion requirements that no one uses).
Ritual beasts have a good link 2, so you can go summon 2, link 2, ns tamer ss beast, link 4 pretty easily. I'm assuming you're "supposed" to have the link target a fusion, then CL 2 tag out, which is funny at maintaining the style.
i can't understand these people, who complaining about ritual beast everytime, because it takes so long. Today every sinlge tier 20 deck needs three times longer.
Ritual beast was a counter to nekroz so that helped, however yeah BA could just outgrind ritual beast 60-70% of the time. If you didnt floodgate them out fast enough you couldnt win and most people were playing the deck with little traps at the time which the deck kinda needed to survive. Now I think the monster spell heavy builds might be the most optimal to play. I will however try and remain as true to the trap variant because I just enjoy how much fun I had in grind matches. Qli was your other hard matchup at the time due to pendulum summoning being insane.
I like how after Power of the Elements kinda ruined the game Konami has been making new busted cards that don't feel unfair. I'm not sure how long this will last, but it feels like we finally hit the ceiling of power creep and new cards are more focused on giving older decks new fun tools rather than printing new decks that completely break the game around them. I am so looking forward to seeing many of the old decks become playable again. Who knows Josh, maybe Konami will finally make frogs not horribly broken or completely unplayable. You and your hoppy bois can sit on the throne again.
Lol that you are calling a set that released some of the most popular archetypes the game has ever seen as ruining the game. I wish we still had POTE instead of the last six months
@@geiseric222i feel like the fact that they had to ban in archtype cards and out of arch type cards kinda shows that the decks were a bit too strongly designed than konami really intended. Feels like its usually just the out of archtype stuff that gets hit and then maybe a limit here and there.
@@geiseric222most popular archetypes being the best ones is not surprising. That set was gigabroken and spright and tear kinda fucked up the meta for way longer than they should've
I played ritual beasts for almost 2 years. From a glance, the new Lara's a 10/10, the link monster's a 9/10 (moderately situational), the field spell is meh and having new names is 10/10. It'll win for a bit.
5 months later we re-watch this, if anyone takes more than 15 minutes too do full combo in this they should be insta d'qued it is not that hard especially uninterrupted. Not sure what people were doing when it originally came out I played this after the link-2 came out is legit 5 minute combo max. Turn 3 you can go ham for ages tho if ya want.
if it full combos, end on a lot of pops and basically a soul charge. new support gives access to easier lines to the same board but extremely consistent and with access to in archetype negation lines.
Generic link 4 stuff. Pick a couple you like. Though for most players if they can no brain Accesscode Talker for a Link 4 they stop giving a shit about a deck. Its a macro cosmo deck, most meta decks struggle playing with no GY effects.
Josh let his inner Sam hang out for this video claiming the support to be INSANE. I mean it it pretty good but honestly it’s nothing all too crazy like new Lara and the new fusion have good synergy and are really good but the link 4 is as useful as the Ulti-Gaiapellio which is ass. The spell is solid imo but Josh hyping fckin ritual beasts if all things up feels kinda forced for content still a great vid.
this support is absolutely garbage, clickbait title ngl, what ritual beast needed was a link 1 that lets you do full ritual beast combo with 1 card, and they needed a easier way to cheat out ultigipaleo
@@donnelleraeburn9207 the way the card is written its impossible unless they let you use banished or graveyard cards as fusion material since ultigiapellio requires 4 monsters to be summoned correctly lol..
Ritual Beast, SNOOOORE. But seriously, Ritual Beast does not need support, archetypes like X-Sabers, Mist Valley, FUCKING Worms are more deserving of getting new support than Ritual Beast
Ritual Beasts needed support badly. Worms and Mist Valley support would make it so you no longer play the old cards, because the old cards are so dogshit
