I really hope they retrain Bujins or Yang-Zings. They're really outdated, I like playing both decks, but they're painfully outdated, and so slow compared to everything.
People saying "it's 2050 so it can't be summoned with 1 Drytron" as if it's an intentional design It's not, it just so happens that they designed the original SG with 2050 ATK which put its retrain above Drytron range
2:41 I don't think this effect is supposed to replace Ritual spells altogether but to give you further extension without needing to search more Ritual spells.
Another important tidbit I noticed: The level 1 is also a *fairy*, which means we can get cute with Diviner of the Herald, sending Trias Hierarchia and then SSing the level 1 from deck
That face on reading the trap was hilarious. I will say, the grave effect of the ritual spell is stronger than I expected. Yes, it does require your opponent to play into it, but it triggers on leaving the field. That's very very difficult to play around, and if it resolves, not only do you get another Ritual monster, Novox comes back and allows you to activate the trap from deck. That's kinda a big deal.
For the reason why they're all linked together, in the card art of "Hymn of Light", the card which you would use to summon OG Saffira, we see what looks to be a cathedral with two windows shining down light onto the center of the floor, creating what looks to be a summoning circle designed with one central circle and three circles attached to it in a triangular fashion. In the art of "Sprite's Blessing", the card to summon OG Sauravis, we see the same summoning circle art used (complete with light coming from the same two directions: left and right, meaning it could very well be in the same cathedral), and in the center of the circle, performing what looks be a prayer, is Novox from, you guessed it, "Novox's Prayer" which would summon OG Skull Guardian. The OG cards technically only synergized in the fact that Saffira cared about LIGHT monsters, of which all 3 of them are. The literal only indication that you could have that they are even somewhat connected is by seeing all the ritual spells in thay order.
18:40 - that last "you can also search the old vanilla" part of the effect might exist just for the sake of making the Japanese and English cards do the same thing. Text of the form 'any "contains this string" card' can be awkward to localize when Japan decides to make something up involving their old names, since the localizers wouldn't have accounted for this happening later.
@@xCorvus7x That is correct, hence why I said the text "might" exist for the specified purpose. If the card can search Skull Guardian by coincidence in the original Japanese, then what I said makes sense and is almost certainly right. If not, what I said makes no sense and is wrong.
@@delta3244 According to Yugipedia, that synergy doesn't seem to be there in Japanese. It's also kind of bizarre that they renamed Law Guardian as Skull Guardian. What is going on in the translation teams?
@@xCorvus7x I spent a while looking at card texts/names in Japanese (note that I do not speak or read the language), and I'm fairly sure you are correct. The silenforcing barrier has two quoted things even in the original Japanese, and all "silenforc" cards are all covered by the first.
Interesting note: Both Sauravis are level 7 light dragons, meaning they are searchable by starry knights. Which are bad cards, but mostly are bad due to the complete lack of good level 7 Light dragons. Thoughts: Starry Knight Ceremony both searches and summons New Sauravis, who then can tag out into a ritual. He also returns to the hand when he does so, meaning he would trigger Starry Knight Sky’s effect during your turn and Orbitael’s GY effect during either turn. Starry Knight Balefire also searches & has the ability to summon new sauravis. Why does this matter: Uncertain. There’s clear overlap in design space. Light Fairies & high level Light Dragons. Synergies are present but the primary concern is that Silenforc really wants to summon their level 1. Starry Knights require the normal summon to function.
Only in theory. I'm working on building a list myself since I personally love Seiyaryu and his retrain. There might be a way to get the Starry Knights on field without the NS, but without Starring Knight, they have no other helpful ED way of getting on the field without ruining any plays.
Orbitael, Trap Blast, and the field spell maybe the only good synergy with Silenforce. Orbitael can summon herself from GY every time your Sauravis back to hand, then she can tribute herself to set the trap from deck. This omni-negate isn't really bad for support. The field spell is good too, but too bad its draw effect only trigger in your turn only.
Does Silentforc really care _that_ much about normal summoning their level 1? It seems to me that using it as material from hand still lets it do everything it wants to do (pay the full cost for a ritual, search a card, and end up on the board - either to enable SK retrain's omni-negate or to act as material again).
@@delta3244Yeah, so you can probably splash Starry Knights as a mini engine that can search Sauravis or Seiyaryu retrain if you want, and an omni negate.
it's def possible that they have tangencial sinergy but you have to remember we have herald as engine instead and herald simply comboes much better, a normal summon into a ritual search into a lvl 6 monster on board, that when tributed special summon the starter from deck, is much stronger synergy and will aways compete for space in the ritual archetype
One funny thing about rituals is that, due to the support they've been making, a lot of them generate quite a few cards to maintain card advantage and offset the inherent loss of such. All they have to do is make a branded fusion for rituals, and a bunch of ritual deck will go crazy.
Advanced ritual arts already exists and some ritual decks like dogmatika even have ritual from extra deck which is pretty good for gaining even more advantage by sending things like n'tss and Herold but what rituals really need is broken bosses and ways to make sure you can both ritual from deck but also the ritual itself needs to be replaced with something that you can actually use. You have to remember unlike fusions you need the ritual monster in your hand too. Or maybe an archetype of extra deck rituals which are just fusions lol
Ive been doing testing with these in an impcantation deck i have and it adds so much consistency. you play 2 novox, 3 saffira, 1 barrier,1 prayer and 1 authority. From the playtesting ive done with these i end on the new skull knight, megalith och in grave with the trap and field spell set up to summon och on their turn and add a ritual monster from grave. A magician of chaos max in hand to summon on their turn through the megalith och and finally a amorfactor pain on field as well. In the end my opponent is starting their turn in the battle phase, fusion, xyz, and synchros are negated, and omni negate thats 4100 and the ability to not allow the activation of all monster effects for the rest of their turn.
The new archetype looks fun. Skull knight has a special place in my heart as an old goofy ritual. I'd probably play this if the prices are reasonable when it comes out
Not sure if this is capital-G good but it's certainly decent and we can see how it shapes out in the future, which is more than I can say for most ritual archetypes
I think the continuous spell not being able to search old saffira and sauravis are searchable by prep and now with the new ritual spell of the ritual monsters in the deck are searchable by pre prep
This should be paired with Nekroz and impcantation seeing how you can dump inception to grave with saffaira and the ritual monster searches nekroz warrior and dragon you can now have 4 negates unicore Areadbhair herald of arc light and skull guardian
One thing I notice when using Diviner in this deck is that sending Herald to the GY makes diviner only a level 6. This means that in the context of this deck if you want to tribute Diviner to tag out for the level 1 novox you either need an extra material for ritual (like a manju or handtrap), or summon the OG Saffira. This is not terrible but is a slight inconvenience if you build the novox deck pure. Though you can also try to incorporate Benten into the deck for this case if needed Also the 2050 attack is a homage to the OG, but is also funny how it is slightly over the Drytron line of 2000/4000
I really do love what they have done here. I think they are really good for what they are supposed to do. Only thing I have a problem with is that, indeed, there are not enough targets to make this a great deck. The mentioned cards in the architype and Odd eyes pendagraph dragon are the only ones worth consideration. Gravity dragon doesn't work since it is a earth dragon or any bls ritual monster for that matter (since they're all earrh). So unless there will be more light dragon and warrior rituals (which I think can be done with ease) this won't be a fantastic deck.
This archetype will go HARD in LukeVonKarma's Sub Replay Friday next year once they add it to Master Duel and someone uses it to summon OG Skull Guardian
@@lz9275 It's true that the archetype itself has no way of summoning Gravity Dragon. Though, you should be playing Pendulumgraph anyway and here we're looking at additional tech choices enabled by the more generic search of the Silenforcing Skull Guardian.
So i looked throught all possible ritual targets, because i really like this deck so far lol. Whatever, about light warrior, there are none, except the one of the archtype that are worth playing. The dragons are better thought, here we have: Odd eyes pendelgraph Lord of the red Amorphactor pain Raging storm dragon This are the best dragon ritual you can summon, next to sauravis and Saffira. For lights there are not really that good, like the cyber angels and shit not really worth it. Now to odd eyes, he is kinda busted because you special odd eyes from extra with him, best targets are. Vortex and meteorburst or some of their xyz. Vortex is a bounce, meteor burst lets you special pendulumgraph back (his spell negate is a soft) And you can like xyz summon with the xyz, or use some effects of them in the scales when destroyed. Fo the milling of ritual spell: Prymal cry and hymn of light are the best targets to mill next to the ritual sprll of the deck.
Playing saffira, queen of dragons could be based in this deck: 1. Use sauravis second effect on opponents turn to rip a card out of their hand. 2. Synergies well by having an effect when ritual summoned to add 1 light monster from graveyard to hand 3. Draws 2 and discards 1
1. What is correlation between those old cards? Novox is in the Sprite's Blessing art (Sauravis ritual spell). And the place and magic circle in Sprite's Blessing is appear in Hymn of Light (Saffira ritual spell). Yeah, they're from the same place for long time. 2. You maybe confuse why they treat the old Skull Guardian differently. Other ritual can be "cheated" by summoning them from the decks with Silenforcing Sauravis' effect. But, you cannot cheat summon OG Skull Guardian because in the text says "This monster *can only* be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "Novox's Prayer"." That's why the spell says "Ignoring summoning condition" to cheat this restriction of OG Skull Guardian. While the ritual Sauravis and Saffira just says "You can Ritual Summon this card with "their ritual spell"." 3. I like Pre-prep can add the ritual spell and Sauravis, and keep the monster as handtrap. This deck basically has searchable handtrap (or hand protection). 4. Maybe you don't really Silenforce Saffira, but her effect to discard spell has synergy with old Saffira's ritual spell. Hymn of Light can banish itself from GY to protect your ritual from battle and effect destruction. 5. I think you cannot use Odd-eyes ritual as target. The text says "Must be ritual summoned" and the other effect says " if this Ritual Summoned card was placed in the Pendulum Zone this way". So, even if we can cheat it with new Sauravis, you cant get optimal effect.
That optimal effect is a bonus you don't _need._ If you pull it off, you can cheat out Vortex Dragon for bouncing but either way you get the search and the card returns to your hand, which is the most important part as it forms a resource loop.
Silenforcing Sauravis CAN summon the OG Skull Guardian. Don't take Skull Guardian's text at face value, it's an old card, all Rituals were written in a similar way back then. You can also use other Ritual Spells like Advanced Ritual Art to summon Skull Guardian, its summoning mechanic is the same one as Sauravis and Saffira.
I don’t know how the saravis retrain could work without ignoring summoning condition. Also the light warrior doesn’t necessarily have to be ritual monsters, the trap can be played in noble knight
Drytron has an issue losing to imperm and nib. Sauravis adds the ritual which is a target negate and special negate. Although it does not add drytron rituals there are applications like prep and sending field spell which adds itself back
if you use dogmatika and herald for getting rid of your extra deck, then this is almost tier 0 since you can constantly draw and add cards while returning and destroying your opponents cards
The three ritual monsters are tied together because of novox. Novox summons skull guardian to protect herself in novox prayer. Novox summons sauravis in a cathedral in sprite's blessing (the generic light ritual spell that just got power crept by silenforcing prayer). That same cathedral is used to summon saffira in the hymn of light ritual spell.
Cheating sauravis onto the board kinda nice cause once he triggers you get him in hand. Neither opt either, and let's you play through imperm on disciple so not even too shabby to have in an opener either.
@deepsolace92 i still play gishki to this day and as long as they dont support it, its fine. The handloop variant is ass now. Most variants end on zielgigas and neremanas instead

I guess Joshua forgot megalith already tried the whole don't need ritual spells to ritual summon gimmick. I wonder if this could work with Megalith now that I think about it though.
@@swordswinger5 2 things. 1) they have an archetype ritual spell, megalith does not. 2) the quick play cheats out the ritual monster so you can't resummon it later. Megalith unformed properly ritual summons the monster it brings out.
Megaliths are all Earth, so they could only help you get the Effect Monster retrains into the graveyard but this is clunky and unnecessary since that can be done well enough within the Silenforc archetype itself. There's also the fact that only the Level 4 Megalith can Ritual summon monsters outside their archetype, which makes this combination even less handy.
Hilarious, love how confused he is about this archetype. Wait, a ritual archetype that can put up omni negate and multiple disruptions turn 1? Is that possible? Also, deck can play kash, as level 7s are natural in this deck. Diviner is right at home, has a lot of space for non engine, plays in opponents turn and is super consistent as you have basically 10 Copies of the level 1. It feels a lot like a invoked engine or adventure engine, but for a in-archetype deck.
for me is funny that everyone says Ritual Summon is busted and ignores how even worse is the fusion. In fusion, you need EXACTLY 3 cards in your hand to do it. And even so, Konami makes meta fusion decks all the time cheating HARD the mechanic, and when it finally makes a ritual that cheats the mechanic people go crazy.
Saying you NEED exactly 3 cards is mostly a stretch nowadays, since most recent fusion monsters require more generic materials and Konami have been printing monsters with effects to fusion summon by themselves for a while, AND fusion monsters being in the extra deck also puts it miles above the ritual mechanic
