But, but..., where are the donkeys and guys wearing boots and big hats?!? We can all thank Hollywood for that. How funny they never mention Mexico City being one of the first mega cities of the entire continent!
@Robert Gardea you're clearly are living in the 70's More than a half million Mexicans with a Lot of money and degree emigrated from Mexico in the last 20 years!
I miss CDMX! I was there in November and travelled the Paseo everyday. I stayed at the Sevilla and I loved the street being shut down to cars on Sunday and open to families for walking and such. Mexico City is BEAUTIFUL and I can’t wait to go back. The Angel is gorgeous at night when lit up 😘 I’m from Tampa Florida and I love that you are showing the beauty of the country there to possibly people who might have false information. Well done.
fernando villa I’m from Tampa Florida and we have problems too. There are problems all over the world. Sometimes the media seems to grab hold of certain areas and show BAD BAD BAD and then everyone sees that and runs with it. Mexico City is beautiful, Puebla is gorgeous, Cancun, Cozumel, Cholula, Coyoacán all simply amazing! I have ma y more places on my list to visit but I love the food, culture, architecture... the PEOPLE!! Oh and Lucha Libre Lol!!!
This is the stupidest comment ive read. Im not Mexican, but i love Mexico. Mexico doesn't depend on the United states... Mexico is stunted because of the USA.
Mexico is full of beautiful old buildings. But if that's all people in other countries see, then they will think that Mexico is stuck in the past. That's why I wanted to take a walk down this very modern avenue. To show that innovation is also part of the Mexican experience!
The New Travel this is absolutely true that's why I moved here from New York two years ago and really this city has so much history since prehistoric time and I'm willing to stay here in Santa Fe for a long time.. I see more Americans buying in my building each time love it
You are a very polite person, I think I can speak for most Mexicans if I say that we see Canada as the most civilized country in the world, in glad you see only the good in the country and don't focus on pollution or crime, you will never be called gringo because its disrespectful
Tbf his is Mexico for only a couple thousand Mexicans. It’s like walking down billionaires row in New York and thinking all or most Americans live like that or in similar places, when the truth is far from that.
Maybe the U.S. should become better neighbors with Mexico. I always thought what the news here showed was how poor the entire country was. Goes to show, find out the facts for yourself before drawing a conclusion.
Well Mexico is the U.S number one trade partner in the world so both countries benefit from each other. Also as soon as you leave the city it is poor ranchers and farmers for the most part besides the resorts.
Unfortunately the USA paints a horribly inaccurate picture of Mexico as a whole.. Many places are very modern, fantastic public transportation, much better than some US cities.. Where buses are almost impossible to get.. They have tons of transportation options, unlike here.. My cousins who visited from Cuernavaca, Morelos were shocked that we were justing getting Uber, when in fact they've had way before my city did..
Mexico is a beautiful country and like any other country has its bad and good things but international tv chooses to portray only the bad side of this amazing country
Thanks for nice video, Dan:) I love Mexico, and the Mexico city specially. I've been living at that beautiful place for 1 year, and can tell that is one of the most adorable places I was living ever. That air of Mexico... ooohh, it is really special:) miss it a lot!
To me, I really appreciate you showing the public that Mexico isn't a stereotype that you see represented in the media and it's people as well. So thank you! because some ppl are ignorant.
Thank you so much for this video because I was born in Mexico but moved to the US at five years old. This video shows me a brighter side, a new idea of Mexico.
Hi friends I Iwas in CDMX back on april we were so lucky we got the perfect weather the city is so beautiful and clean ,people are so friendly they help with any info you need or direction 3 day was not enough to go around and visit all the main attractions and neighborhoods , lol its so much to do and food what can I say bout it right ( the Best ) lol,
I visited Mexico City when I was 17 yrs old and, it looked almost the same with big tall skyscrapers everywhere beautiful parks and that was 38 years ago! So, when you said, "When I see buildings like that and that, I really feel like I'm looking like the face of the New Mexico"... I get what you are doing and. I appreciate it but, what you are saying is shit. It is not a new Mexico it's the Mexico I remember with a few more buildings just like any other country.
The name of the statue is Diana la cazadora. The model was a 16yr.old Girl that worked as a secretary for the PEMEX company, there she met the sculptor of the statue. She is alive she's like 92yrs. Old and lives in colonia Polanco.
this statue is in 17 states in mexico, one in usa. The real authentic statue is located in ixmiquilpan, hidalgo mexico. beautiful state, great natural hot springs.
Mexico is a beautiful country and it is safe to walk and explore...of course crime and delinquency is an issue like in most countries but watch less tv and travel more ..you can get robbed in mexico city as well like new york chicago or los angeles ...the biggest lie world wide is if you go to mexico the cartel will chop off your head and send it to your mother....please dont be that stupid
Clean because it only showed the best neighborhoods in the city. I want to see this cleaning in the poorer neighborhoods. It is like this in the whole world.
It’s not clean. Here you see one small area in a city almost 100 miles wide. They’re not showing you Los cerros: cinder block housing built in a massively crowded way sprawling over the high hills surrounding the city that house millions and millions. There is no system for garbage for the millions living on the cerros. The air in the city slaps you in the face. Don’t be surprised the media lies to you. They do. They most certainly do. Has this kid ever been to NYC? He’s never seen apartments over a Starbucks.
Dan, the building you pointed out as looking as if it has reading for the blind is Torre Reforma. Those holes are both functional and architectural. It allows the outer concrete wall to flex during an earthquake. Without the holes it would be one rigid slab of concrete which would crack during a quake. It's architectural because it is meant to emulate the readings of a seismometer. The building is the tallest building in the world to have a concrete wall that serves as both the facade and the structure. This means all the loads are carried by the wall which eliminates the need for columns on the inside which in turn allows for more rentable space. There's a restaurant at the basement if you ever want to check it out. Here's a good summary video of the tower. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MjKXuaPPK24.html

Paseo de la Reforma is the most important and emblematic avenue in Mexico City. It was originally called Paseo del Emperador, because its construction was commissioned by Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico during the Second Mexican Empire. In the next month will begin the construction of 5 skyscrapers of 330 meters high and several towers of +200.
Hey Dan, this video has opened my eyes to a lot of things. I see the city where I was born in a new light. I grew up in the states, Seattle to be exact. Every summer we where excited to cross over to BC, sometimes me and my friends would travel all the way to Vancouver, it was quite a riot!. I pretty much grew up as an American during the 80's. I was the only Mexican in my high school. I never even imagined Mexico city to be as I saw it through your camera. I always saw and heard bad things about this place in the media, quite a contrast with what I recently found out. Your images further reinforce the thought that I've been misled somehow. I've visited other Mexican cities, but I now live in Colombia and am sad to say that I have never even visited Mexico city since I left when I was a child. But I'm determine to go back and experience it and see it with my own eyes. Thanks for shooting this wonderful video Dan and for taking the time and effort to make it publicly available.
the thin big building is artwork, but is part of the digital culture center, below that light structure is a center to promote the digital future, is home of many expositions and events related to future culture, you can visit there free and maybe you get some exposition, there are great events there but most of them are small
yep is important place for me as i develop videogames so i have been there many times, here is the schedule of activities, but i thinks is open always for different reasons, by the way you should see the automatic bank machines inside the base of the bancomer building, the entire wall behind the money machines is a dinamic screen www.centroculturadigital.mx/actividades
Wow then I'll should consider to visit it in my very next trip to Mexico City, thanks for the info, indeed CDMX is surprisingly different. Why don't you make a video about "El Pedregal"? I lived there for a year when I did my fellowship. Greetings fron Stockholm! 🌝
there is a big structure below, most people doesnt know, the light building is no more than an advertisement for the underground construction that is the reason was so expensive
this is a picture of the underground building of the light sign cdmxtravel.com/assets/cache/297b631a88835f8931aa5aabdd06ece9/discover-1504-10427282-679229778864757-1605963954783406351-n_848x476_adaptiveResize.jpg
Mexico is a great country, we are not Haiti, with all my respect to Haiti, not only Mexico City is beautiful, greetings from Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico.
I've been to cancun but s lot of tourism, are they generally very friendly in most parts of mexico? Where I live in the US people are really toxic and hateful

It's beautiful to see my city from a foreigner eyes. Paseo de la Reforma is an avenue with a lot of history. And yes, it's inspired by les Champs-Élysées.
Paseo de la Reforma was made by Emperor Maximilano, during French intervention in Mexico. He tried to bring some french-looking aspects to mexico and the avenue was one of them.
You are wrong my friend !!! that avenue was planned and constructed by the president Porfirio Díaz , before you say something make sure it's true , inform your self before trying to inform others . SALUDOS AMIGO .
Mate I am so happy for you to see how fast your channel is growing!!! I need to catch up on your videos when I get some free time as I want to visit Mexico (probably not until next year though due to stretched finances). Are you living there indefinitely or do you have a timeline for moving on? 4:37 - Same with the Philippines 😊
Ah cool, looking forward to seeing where you go next! I won't ask as it will ruin any big reveal We left the Philippines AGES ago lol, we're just super slow with our uploads due to life circumstances at home, I'm going to be going back in July though (probably just me though *Sam*). I'll be going for another month, maybe longer

Yeah @parrish6696 is right, that monument was extremely expensive and nobody want it, but like you can see, the goverment did it anyway, so that thing is aweful and really really expensive because the most of the money went to the pockets of corrupts politicians.
True Mexico is not bad as the news all over world say it is. All those people who get murder died for messing with drug dealers ect. Anyways good video keep up the good work 🙂😍
Absolutely beautiful! That is the other side of many nice hispanic places we don't see on television. The media only shows the bad and the worst. South and Central America also have beautiful places people need know. Thank you for showing something positive about the Hispanic culture!
I think as in any country, if you're fortunate to be a part of the middle/upper class, it's great. The can be seen from those that haven't been so lucky
I respect your point of view. Every big city on every country has the same problem. I would love to show you the most unknown part of Mexico City that is the family part. News channels will never show you how fun is my city. Blessings.
@@fabulosoallpurpose3570 In Brazil the middle class and the upper class are unattainable by the crisis. They continue to live well in their neighborhoods. I do not know where you got that achism from.
I love your videos I was born in Mexico but came to America when I was 1 these videos make me so proud of where I’m from . I love to show these to my dad because he misses our beautiful country too . Thank you !
How nice it is to see that part of the city be nice and clean, thanks for showing me that part of Mexico but I never got the chance to see before, especially me being Mexican thanks so much!
Watching this video and being a Mexican-American makes me happy. I live in Kansas and I’m always getting constant racist remarks and comments, I mostly ignore them but it really does make you depressed and make you feel like you don’t belong here. A few years back we moved to a small town in the middle of nowhere and I was in the playground at school, me and this kid got into a argument and started fighting, and he brought some of his buddies over and was saying I don’t belong in this country and I need to go back to Mexico. He and his buddies jumped me and almost broke my nose. After watching this it makes me happy to have Mexican ancestors and makes me proud to have such a rich culture.
It’s just breathtaking... 😍 Mexico is so beautiful! ppl who say bad things about it, never been there.. They hear what they want to hear without doing research on their own. Great Video! You have a new subscriber! :)
I´m mexican, and i can tell you: 1) We have some problems, yes. Mostly because some people won´t get in the progress (like narcos, they want easy money and no cares if they hurt they own people) but day by day more people are waking up. They many other positive aspects about our country, but right now we have to lead whit that. 2) I like the way that you capture the essence of my contry, i realy enjoy your video. 3) 6 cervezas por 52 pesos is one of my favorite things about my conuntry XD Sorry if i have many orthographic mistakes.
And the reason I love Mexico is because the atmosphere and the vibe. Everything feels so fresh and calm. The buildings and streets make it feel like you’re not in the past but not in the future. You’re smack dab in the middle of rural and technology.
Im from a colonial city town in the state of Guanajuato Mexico, and Ive always wanted to visit Mexico City or el D.F. as they call it here lol Its so modern looking and beautiful!!! Thank you! I subscribed! :)
Hahaha I just typed "suavicrema cookie" into google images to see pictures of the cookie, and it showed me all these pictures of the tower 😂😂 now it will forever be a cookie tower in my mind
Jajaja in fact it's "Estela de Luz" design uses quartz and electric lighting effects. But It was built to celebrate the bicentennial of the Independence and Revolution but under a waste of money 917.7 thousand pesos.
It's real name is Estela de Luz. Suavicrema is just a nickname because it looks like this cookie called "Suavicrema". It was built to commemorate the Bicentennial of Mexico as an independent country.
Braille is French, we don’t even pronounce it properly in English, “LL” in French is pronounced like “Y” and the “E” is silent. Spanish, just like in English, we have our own take at it: BRÁY-LE, every letter counts and we break the ”LL” rule. 😉
Theres thousands of words and expressions we ve borrowed from other languages. He s description and use of the word braille is totally correct. While it does originate from french, it is a word listed in the oxford dictionary, and the way he pronounced it, well is totally correct for the english language. (Btw, any word borrowed form another language is integrated to fit english grammar rules and is therefore pronounced as an english word. There are many countries borrowing words form other languages, and as far as i know not a single one has the rule to pronounce a borrowed word as people pronounce that word in its country of origin). What s your point?
Great video. You are correct. Mexico City is not any more dangerous than any other major city. In fact, it is probably safer (unless you get too close to the traffic as you record video). But it just gets bad press, mainly in the American media as a result of the inherent close-mindedness of the 30-40% of the US population. Europeans and even Canadians, like yourself, however, are more aware of what it really is-a world-class city. And in many ways, from infrastructure to education to technology to the arts, and even to its new super progressive constitution, is leaving a lot of American cities in the dust!
Westin Taylor im sure you haven't been in México ever, that's why you say so many stupid things... I'm so proud of my country, People Who come here loves this country cause there are many beautiful places to go, and of course in Google maps you could see ugly house but is like another counties, you can not expect that everything is nice.
My girlfriend is from Mexico, and she tells me people from the city are oblivious to how it really is in Mexico, not to say it isn’t beautiful but it really is dangerous there outside the city.
Hey Dan! Thank you for showing me around my own city again (really impressed of so many new buildings on their way)! I am currently studying in The Netherlands and I have been here for almost a year now. And as you said, we sometimes take for granted what we have back in Mexico until we get a new perspective (like living or traveling to another country). Thanks for helping us share what the real Mexico (old and modern) is about. Please feel welcome to visit our country again and let us know so we can guide you to new exotic and amazing places!
1:57 Hi! actually it isn't a building, it turns on it's lights on nights, it's curious because it doesn't has a "interesting use" or something, It's just a big light "lamp". In spanish i'ts called Estela de Luz.
Awesome content. I'd love to tell you the stories I know about the fountains and art, and all of that. I just got back to MX City after a couple months away, and every time I come back after a time away, I fall in love with the city over again.
Thank you so much for this short film about Mexico city, very nice to see your interest for my country and looking forward to see more of your videos....xoxo
